From Galacticorp Survey Report 21-256-3
Major Imports: Food, Supplies, Personnel.
Major Exports: Computing power, Research
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
Gravity: 1.05 Standard Gravity
Climate: The planet has an near universal alpine climate, evergreen trees dominate the landscape, and mild summers are replaced with (relatively) cold winters. During the summer green grasses dominate the mountainsides and valleys, rendering the planet a beautiful green, many types of fauna come out during the summer months
Primary Terrain: Towering mountains are contrasted with verdant plateaus and valleys, with crystal clear waters running through valleys to massive seas. The planet is untouched by intelligent life leaving most of the terrain pristine.
Major Locations:
Compund Alpha: Founded by Lyra Sarn, and located right near The Great Sea, it is the only permanent settlement on the world. It is not listed on any star charts, and is a sort of wild space covert R&D lab for Sarn’s various projects. The main line of research is computing, as Sarn is attempting to obtain large amounts of computing power in an attempt to unlock her fortune. Also to meet this goal Compound Alpha is home to an expansive underground network of servers., she uses this computing power frequently in order to crack difficult cryptographic problems
The base is powered by geothermal energy and has amenities various amenities including a fully functional automated spaceport, holo-net access, automated factories, and automated defenses. The base is as self sufficient as possible, only importing that which cannot be produced in situ, such as food and fuel.
The Sarn Residence Built into the side of a mountain the Sarn Residence is a beautiful modern home with a wood burning fireplace and all of the amenities one could need. It is stylish, comfortable, and in a pinch also functions as a bomb proof shelter. The view is also really beautiful.

The Crests: The crests are the colloquial names for the mountainous regions of the world, which are distinct from The Troughs, the valley regions. The Crests are dominated by heavy snowfall in winter, and mild summers, with the mountains turning a bright green color. Plateaus are very frequent, giving animals a good place to play the game of life. Trees dominate most mountainsides, and the highest mountains are able to remain snow covered all year.

The Troughs: The Troughs are the valley portions of the planet, crystal clear rivers run free, and animals are plentiful in these regions. Trees and grasses are thick and verdant, with some forests being so thick that they are almost impossible to navigate. Every river flows into one of the many “Seas” on the planet, massive freshwater lakes created from melting snowfall. The Troughs are much more forgiving than The Crests, with winters having much less snowfall and temperatures being much more mild year round.

The Great Sea: This crystal clear sea is the largest body of water on the planet, its waters are crystal clear and pristine, it is a massive body of fresh water (no know salt water reservoirs have been found as of yet) which is home to the most diverse collection of wildlife on the planet, fish, birds, predators, and other various life forms populate this area. This sea freezes during the winter months, leaving a massive ice lake.

The Peak: The Peak is the colloquial name for base staff for a really, really, really, really big mountain, while not the tallest in the galaxy, it is by far the tallest on the planet, and there are various rumors about snow beasts, ghosts, and other strange anomalies occurring on The Peak. None have been definitively proven by either the research team or security, but many who go to the peak often come back shell shocked and shaken, many never even speak again, or even worse, constantly going on about “him”.

The star known on most star charts and surveys as GC-21-256 is a quiet system in Wild Space that for most of galactic history has been uninhabited and quiet. Whether this is due to its far out position or some other reason is unknown, but it was not even surveyed until about 424 ABY, right before the Gulag Plague set the galaxy ablaze. Most likely due to these circumstances, the survey reports were lost for centuries, buried under mountains of data on ancient servers long relegated to disuse. The system remained unnoticed, quiet, and despite the perfectly habitable Alpine world in the system, uninhabited. Occasionally a spacer would accidentally crash in the system due to bad star charts, normally crashing on the extremely dangerous inner worlds, or rarely, dying in the cold on 256-C.
In recent years however, things have changed slightly. Lyra Sarn, a renowned slicer, stumbled across an old survey report for 256 while digging through old servers on a job. Sarn failed to find the system on most star charts, and from the information presented in the Survey report, that made no sense. Sensing opportunity, she immediately hired a survey crew and made her way out there, slipping away from the swoop gang for which she worked for at the time to investigate. The reports that came back were promising, 256-C seemed as if it was set up to create large amounts of computer systems in-situ. She kept the reports but decided to sit on the information for a while, keeping it as a backup plan in case things went south with the swoop gang. Obviously things did, and Sarn found herself in the need of massive computing power. She dug up the survey she had done, and began hiring contractors to create a complex, dug into the side of a mountain on the world. This complex would double as a home for her, and as a massive server farm. She needed computing power to unlock her stolen fortune, and this would be the center of that effort.
Months were put into construction of Alpha Compound, secretly ferrying out contractors and construction equipment in order to construct a sprawling facility into the mountainside. Lyra spared no expense (she wasn’t paying for it, some poor arms dealer was) in constructing the perfect compound, heavily defensible, with the crown jewel being her own personal home on the mountainside, overlooking a massive lake. After the compound was completed, she scrounge up as much computer science talent as she could, and set them to work on developing enough processing power to break open her untold riches that she had to lock away. She found the best and brightest available and coaxed them into joining her with stories of saving the galaxy from poverty and hunger, and also the promise of a big paycheck if they came. The end result was Haven as it is today, a research colony run by a slicer with questionable sanity.

System Features:
From Galacticorp Survey Report 21-256-3
- G class star ≅ 1.15 M☉.
- Barren world, metal rich, uninhabitable, extremely hot and impossible to mine.
- Giant ocean world with an unbreathable, highly acidic atmosphere caused by the creation of hydrochloric acid from chlorine vents aerosolized by massive cyclones. Do not land.
- A desert world wracked by electrical storms, however the atmosphere is rich in oxygen, surveyors suspect that this is caused by electrolysis of the planet's oceans due to the apparent lack of life on the world, however the lack of significant amounts of hydrogen is still being investigated. Landing not recommended due to electrical storms and possibility of atmosphere ignition. Has a barren moon.
- An alpine world, The only body in the system known to contain any form of life and lack of any significant hazards to colonization. Pending further reports on habitability. Has a ring system and two moons, one extremely large moon and one smaller, but still substantial moon. The larger moon appears rich in various types of materials useful for large scale computing operations, the smaller moon is upon first look unremarkable.
- A large gas giant rich in fusion fuels and an antimatter rich radiation belt, good refueling candidate. Has 12 moons, all either barren or icy rocks.

POPULATION
- Native Species: Various lower forms of life.
- Immigrated Species: None in significant numbers.
- Population: Official: Uninhabited; Unofficial: Sparsely Populated.
- Demographics: Small group of engineers, maintenance workers, computer professionals, and R&D researchers, under the employment of Lyra Sarn.
- Primary Languages: Basic
- Culture: The planet has gained what can be best described as “Slicer Culture”. Intelligence and creativity are valued above all else, and morals are a second thought. They want progress at any cost, both to themselves and others. All nighters are common and the colony consumes rather ridiculous amounts of energy drinks and other stimulants for its size. The culture of the planet is built on science and technology. Sarn attempted to grab the best and brightest she could find, which sometimes worked out great, other times, not so great, but they are all aiming for the same goal.
- Government: Anarchy(Corporatocracy on base)
- Affiliation: Lyra Sarn
- Stability: High, Sarn makes sure by her policies and subordinates that her people stay in line. Lest they be blasted by the big scary security droids. However this does not mean that the rules are strict, just that the little rules that do exist are strictly enforced. No violence, no stealing from other residents, no destruction of property, no info leaks.
- Military: Numerous automated defenses to prevent unwanted intruders. Occasionally a PMC will be hired for defenses, otherwise, none.
- Technology: Haven is extremely technologically advanced, it is a research colony after all. Advanced computer systems are being developed constantly, and residents have many creature comforts, and Sarn ensures that residents are given everything they might need to enjoy themselves.
