Harry Potter and the Jedi Temple

Dunames Lopez

Megalomaniac CEO of Star Tours
Back from a trip on Vorzyd, Dunames decided to return on Coruscant on her way back to First Order space. For years she never did more on Coruscant than stop there between flights. Little did she know was that [member="Stephanie Brown"] chased pick-pocketing, drug pushers around the spaceport's outer perimeter, the groundside area before incoming passengers board their ships (or, alternatively, baggage claim for outbound passengers), the very same Westport where she once landed the Exodus laden with five million tons of cargo destined to rebuild Coruscant in the wake of Operation Blackout, which resulted in an Alliance victory. Now Coruscant was one planet long overlooked as far as touristic products from Star Tours are concerned, but it was obvious what were the main two things tourists wanted to see: the Valley of the Lords, where the Jedi Temple stands, as well as the Senate Complex. Of course, the various museums and whatnot would still draw in people, but not nearly as much as these two items. As Dunames closes in on the exit and gets a taxi to the central headquarters of Star Tours (the southern and main one being on Dosuun, while the northern one is on Ringo Vinda)...

"Welcome to Coruscant, the city-wide planet! Whether you're there for shopping, business or just to visit the relics of the Senate or the Jedi Temple, there's something for every budget and every visitor!"

"You, little tourist guide, do you want a few death sticks?" the small-time villain asked Dunames.

Steph would be on overwatch. It had been a very long day at the diner for her, she had worked for 15 hours straight and then she would return to her apartment, once there she would have showered and changed into her armor. It was very flexible just like her. She would then step out onto the ledge outside her apartment after placing her mask on. She would have Jetted out to the tallest building in the city and waited. She would monitor her radio frequencies and got a tip about some drug deals going down. She would deploy her wings and turn on her rocket boosters and she would make her way over there and see the deal. She had to witness a sale before she could do anything

"I'm on Coruscant for another day or two, testing out the new product Star Tours is selling here"

"Death sticks! Ripe, juicy death sticks!"

"Death sticks, oh death sticks, do I really need this after a long day in the cockpit?"

"Yes, help yourself to one for 50 credits"

Dunames spent almost a sleepless night awake: Vorzyd to Ringo Vinda took two hours onboard an AT-AT barge, and Ringo Vinda to Coruscant another 12 hours in hyperspace, with several stops on Roche, Onderon, Alderaan, in that order, each of them were somewhat shorter than the initial loading of the Dennari-class freighter on Ringo Vinda. For 50 credits it would be a tiny dose of ixetal cilona that she would get if she decided to actually buy it. A one-night stopover on Coruscant before going to Hoth would mean that she would need to go to her hotel, and being accosted by those drug vendors would hinder her every move. With a good pool of limo taxis to choose from, she could have her pick right here and not look back, but it appears that some limo drivers are seedier than others. She was unlucky, and perhaps her bad luck would push her to be held hostage to these evil-doers.

Steph would see the sale and make her move. She would take off using her boosters and she would swoop down right on the drug dealer. She would land right in front of the dealer. "Thats it." she said pulling her staff from its holder. She wanted to take these two unharmed but would knock them out if she needed to for safety

"Thank you, whoever you are" Dunames said, while giving Stephanie a 50-credit coin.

There probably are thousands of Jedi in the local garrison, and even more police officers, around Coruscant, and certainly spaceport security would detain the two drug pushers. There was a strange aura about [member="Stephanie Brown"]: vigilantes of that sort probably wear equipment she would have expected out of Mandalorian Jedi or Sith, yet aren't Jedi or Sith. But she readily acknowledges that vigilantes are not afraid to get dirty and go where police and Jedi don't, if only because neither can be anywhere at once. In Dunames' mind, better give Stephanie the 50 credits that would otherwise have gone to the drug pushers. Now that's gratitude that Stephanie should accept. Dunames was grateful for Stephanie's intervention, and then she would be on her way to the limo that would take her to the hotel room, where she would enjoy the first night of the test of the new Coruscant product Star Tours intends to roll out.

Night would fall around the Jedi Temple. While she has just arrived on Coruscant to see the Jedi Temple rebuilt identically to the Clone Wars-era incarnation, over five years, Cathul found that there were always hordes of tourists willing to visit the premises for free, especially since the NJO had complete control over the facility and never made much of a point on commercializing it. Sure, they operated a souvenir shop near the main entrance, but that was about it. Even that didn't deal with the upkeep of the temple. So Cathul came to visit [member="Stephanie Brown"], who was just handing over more drug dealers to the Jedi Temple Guard. Probably because nearly all cops are on patrol at this time of the day. There was no denying that these dazed and confused drug dealers are freshly caught and that could be a good thing. But Cathul realizes almost instantly that Stephanie's Force-skillset is far from complete, and she will never achieve complete effectiveness as a vigilante without a few extra Force-skills.

"Nice catch! But I feel that you're a little raw in the Force. I mean, you can use the Force to sneak around at speed, with caught evil-doers in tow, doing Jedi things, just that Jedi usually have more tools than that to catch other evil-doers. Perhaps you can even catch First Order evil-doers: even though Jedi fight with a lightsaber, there's nothing wrong with Jedi using other weapons"

Steph would hear the woman and spin about with all the grace of a dancer and look up at the woman, she was a lot taller than Stephanie so it was a bit different. Steph would listen and then think before replying, no one had ever wanted to teach her force powers before and it was a bit surprising this woman would. She didnt even know Stephanie, but none the less the offer sounded sweet enough. She would respond her voice like silk

"I see so you would like to teach me these powers?"

[member="Cathul Thuku"]

"Ah yes. You want to keep chasing evil-doers as a Jedi, I see very clearly what you want to do as a Jedi. I have an agenda that will undoubtedly make you a more effective vigilante"

She knew that many Jedi - and Sith - who wanted the life of a lightsaber jockey, especially Mandalorians, who only knew about three or four Force-powers. Force-sense, Art of Movement (which is an umbrella term containing all three of Force-speed, Force-jump and Force-agility), telekinesis, and perhaps mind trick. But these Jedi often need to rely on other people for healing (even the Mandalorian Jedi, who often consider themselves gods in a beskar can or otherwise just bounty hunters with a suit of beskar armor, a lightsaber and the light side of the Force) or with a limited repertoire of moves that can be useful. And so often, a Jedi would learn a given Force-power out of regret of having failed a mission where said power would have made a difference. Like Force-healing, Detoxify Poison. The tale was all too familiar to her. [member="Stephanie Brown"] would probably have a better idea of her needs than Cathul would, even though Cathul knew that there were significant gaps in the padawan's skillset.

"We'll start with telekinesis, Force-healing, Detoxify Poison, mind trick, Force-stun, and perhaps, if you want, lightsaber training, pyrokinesis and cryokinesis"

"Sounds good." Stephanie said smiling. She had several times thought of getting out of the business of crime fighting but every time she almost did she would see that the city needed her to protect them from themselves, and that is what kept her in the game. She would look at the woman "Where should I meet you at?" She asked

[member="Cathul Thuku"]

The cold, hard truth about this Jedi Temple was that, while an architecturally accurate copy of the Clone Wars incarnation, it was built more so as a museum dedicated to the Jedi Orders through the ages than as an actual Jedi Temple. Nevertheless, that Jedi Temple still have a police station manned by the Temple Guard, and rather limited training facilities for the Jedi padawans stationed there, making it more like an enclave than an actual temple. There were a few wargame systems in place for Jedi wishing to train in the more tactical aspects of warfare (like fleeters or ground commanders), and a few training rooms, along with a few meditation chambers, but nowhere near as many as on Sullust. Oh and she could spot Dunames and the rest of the gang on the test run of the newest product Star Tours will soon roll out. She knew Star Tours by name only, because it could ferry people across the galaxy, including but not limited to Alliance space.

"Tomorrow morning at the Jedi Temple, you need some rest for the night" she told [member="Stephanie Brown"].

Stephanie would nod and prepare to set off. This was a lot to take in, she would go home shower eat and go to bed. She was excited for the next day. She would get up and shower again. She would then dress in athletic clothing, a skirt with leggings under it and a crop top showing off her midriff. SHe would then report to the temple

[member="Cathul Thuku"]

The next day, the same circus continues while the tourists tour the Jedi Temple's many secrets free of charge due to the New Jedi Order's policies. While a company with close ties to the First Order, Star Tours, is delivering passengers all across the galaxy from and to Coruscant, the Alliance authorities decided not to make a big deal about it because the company poses no real threat to the Alliance. They admire the history of the Jedi Order up to today, and also artifacts exposed there. Most of its training rooms are open-glass, meaning that training occurs in full view of everyone. Once Cathul's second padawan has arrived, in athletic clothing, she would be positioned at the entrance of the temple, now that she is fully comfortable walking on these cybernetic legs she had installed a few weeks ago, without the need for a hoverchair. First stop: telekinesis, she thought, while she could walk among a throng of tourists in the Jedi Temple and not be recognized.

"[member="Stephanie Brown"], follow me"

[member="Stephanie Brown"] would follow Cathul to a training chamber where everyone and their dog among the tourists would see the training of new Jedi as it happens, live, thanks to transparisteel windows. Said tourists were part of the main complaints that the NJO had to levy, and the souvenir shop is not sufficient to pay for the whole upkeep of the Temple but it was the Temple's main source of revenue, aside of any bounty collected on criminals captured by Jedi stationed there or other vigilantes like Stephanie. They let these criminals live, and aren't being mistreated, but rumors abound that Jedi in the temple are using the captured criminals for practicing several Force-powers: Force-healing, mind trick, Detoxify Poison, Force-stun. Cathul has brought in a comlink for her to practice telekinesis, while keeping in mind that she uses Force-sense, Force-speed/jump and Force-cloak. The comlink is on the ground just in front of Stephanie. At a later point Cathul can bring in the very drug pushers detained here for practicing Detoxify Poison and Force-healing.

"Now, Stephanie, your first Force-lesson is about telekinesis. I know that most Jedi were reluctant to take you, even though some of them, especially Mandalorians, mostly end up training Jedi that are just vigilantes that can use the Force. Perhaps it's because you're vulnerable to the dark side in that, in your desire to protect the innocents of Coruscant and whatnot from crime, you would give in to your more primal emotions, and, from there, become some sort of Dark Jedi. But for now, just lift the comlink off the ground without physically touching it"

"With telekinesis you can disarm opponents, or even throw stun grenades at them if you need them. For the time being, try again"

She could readily imagine [member="Stephanie Brown"] using Force-choke to hold a criminal and interrogate him, and hence fall to the dark side for it. Or perhaps being uncomfortable with having many tourists breezing by the room as she is being trained; since the Jedi Temple is open all day, every day, there will often be tourists present every time. That was perhaps one of those annoyances where both masters and padawans seem to dislike about this Jedi Temple, which made it easy for any master stationed on Coruscant to find a training chamber without even having to book it beforehand: there will always be at least one available. Lifting a small object the size of a comlink six inches is pretty much par for the course for a beginner in telekinesis, and yet she sensed that Stephanie was more powerful than that. Her apprentice had three powers at a decent level for someone with her experience: Force-sense, Force-cloak and Force-speed/jump.

"Before we continue, you would realize that you can still be a vigilante as a Jedi, in that you protect innocents from evil using the Force. This means that you should not use the Force to kill unless absolutely necessary. Sure you will say that, as an admiral, collateral damage and death are part of the deal to me, it just means that I have to protect innocents on a far larger scale than vigilantes will"

"I do not kill." Stephanie said straight out, it was against her moral code. She would rather herself be captured than kill someone, some would say her weakness was she saw the good in everyone. She believed everyone could be redeemed no matter how much evil they had done in their life, she saw this as a strength rather than a weakness. She would look at her master and speak "Every person has a code, part of mine involves not killing no matter the odds, I will take limbs but not kill anyone."

[member="Cathul Thuku"]

So she knows what the Jedi Code means to her? That's a start, even though I didn't formally taught her about it, she thought, upon thinking of the other two items on today's agenda. Pyrokinesis and cryokinesis. But why did other Jedi deem her too vulnerable to the dark side? Did someone see in her using Force-choke, Drain Knowledge or Force-fear in an attempt to intercept evil-doers? To be fair, she knew a few vigilantes doing precisely that: mostly Dark Jedi as described by the Star Tours Guide to Force Specialties, with a few Mandalorian Sith doing that as well. She knew that [member="Stephanie Brown"] still had a long way to go until she could be truly considered as a Jedi. She needed to train in a number of skills before she could actually be knighted. Although a Jedi Knight with jetpacks and an armor that would be a better fit for just the kind of people perceive as the stereotypical Jedi: as Force-using bounty hunters. Meanwhile, a few onlookers had their eyes fixated on the window of the training room where Stephanie is being trained.

"What about you try lifting the comlink with telekinesis again?"

Steph would nod looking at her master, she found that lifting the com-link was really really easy for her. But none the less she would close her eyes and focus before sending the com-link all the way to the ceiling, it didn't take a lot of effort for her to do it. She would then look back to her master still thinking of her code, she would rather die than break that code.
