OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a modernized droid musculature system.
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Scanners read it as living tissue.
  • Denser than living tissue, increasing the strength it provides.
  • More resilient than living tissue.
STRENGTHS
  • Strength: It's dramatically stronger than the muscles of the average Echani.
  • Resilience: The layer of Echani graphite might be prone to denting, but the polyfibe and bio-fiber inside the strand help prevent this, giving the muscle longevity.
  • Lightsaber and Blaster Resistance: Echani Graphite is resistant to lightsaber strikes and blaster fire.
WEAKNESSES
  • Resistant, Not Proof: As with most materials that express resistance to something, repeated exposure without maintenance will result in the failure of the material when dealing with the items they have a resistance to. Repeated saber strikes to the same area, or blaster shots will eventually disrupt the graphite shell.
  • Acid: Bio-fiber is susceptible to acids, thus the outer shell can be depleted if exposed to strong acids, and if the layer of Echani graphite is compromised, the internal layer of bio-fiber would summarily be at risk to the acid as well.
DESCRIPTION
Studies were conducted of the earlier EMBU model and the YVH-2 model's performance history. The overall aim was to determine the performance of the models over differing terrains and different enemies with a focus on the structural system of the droids rather than on their combat mechanics. Both droids were conducted with different systems for musculature, and the analysis of their performance has indicated that, while adequate against their typical opponent, they underwhelm in terms of strength. Numerous beings have shown strength on par with that of the droids, which were meant to be stronger and faster than what they would face. This unacceptable reality has lead to a new research team within the ranks of Eshan Industrial's subsidiary, EchaniTech.

The research team has poured months of time into the development of a new muscle system to strengthen the overall capability of combat droids to deal with stronger beings than the Echani that the droids tend to be modeled after. By taking a tensile rode of polyfibe, coating it in a layer of bio-fiber and another layer of Echani Graphite, they were able to create muscle strands many times stronger than that of the average Echani's muscle strands. In order to protect the material from scans, a final layer of bio-fiber, just thick enough to make the muscles read as living tissue, is applied to the outside of the strands.

When the strands are combined to form a muscle system, such as a bicep or tricep, the muscles have been shown to outperform previous muscular systems utilized in EIC combat droids. Overall the experiment was deemed a success and production of the muscle strands was commenced immediately with the intention of creating new muscular systems for new models of droids currently in development by the corporation as a reaction to the enemies of the present day.
