STRENGTHS
  • Transport: As its namesake might imply, the Hardcell-class Transport is capable of holding large amounts of cargo and personnel within its titanium armored hull.
  • BIG BOOM: Some Hardcell-class Transports are deliberately filled to capacity with Rhydonium, turning them into mobile anti-ship bombs. Even against Star Destroyers, these kamikaze vessels are capable of delivering massive damage by exploding on impact.
  • Rapid launch: The Hardcell's rocket launch systems allows the vessel to temporarily achieve speeds of up to 4,000 kilometers per hour when exiting a planet's atmosphere.
  • Economical: The Hardcell-class Transport was produced in large numbers by the Techno Union, making them readily available for the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant.
  • Unassuming: Being a cargo vessel, the Hardcell-class Transport is a rather unassuming starship...until it is too late to escape its explosive radius.
WEAKNESSES
  • Freighter: The Hardcell-class Trasnport is, at its core, essentially a glorified cargo vessel. It is ineffective against most other vessels unless it is being used as a mobile bomb.
  • Kamikaze: When filled with Rhydonium, the Hardcell-class Transport becomes a mobile anti-ship bomb. Even if it does get close enough to its target to detonate, the Hardcell will be destroyed in the resulting blast, along with anything aboard it.
  • Antiquated launch system: The Hardcell-class Transport relies on an antiquated means of propulsion: rocket boosters. These boosters are highly explosive if hit by laser fire and cause massive environmental destruction every time they are used.
  • Slow: When not engaging its rocket system, the Hardcell-class Transport is a relatively slow moving ship. This makes its role as kamikaze/mobile anti-ship bomb harder to successfully achieve.
  • Friendly fire: Anytime a Rhydonium-filled Hardcell is destroyed, it risks catching friendly ships in the resulting explosion.
  • Rhydonium: Each Hardcell-class Transport requires large quantities of Rhydonium to function as a mobile anti-ship bomb.
DESCRIPTION

First introduced during the Clone Wars, the Hardcell-class Transport quickly found itself outmatched by most Galactic Republic assets during the course of the conflict. Its anemic armament, antiquated launch system and sluggish sublight performance made it a rather unpopular choice with Confederation of Independent System commanders, and after the war ended, the vast majority of the starships were sold to planets like Mahporeem to be scrapped for parts.

Even after the fall of the Galactic Empire, Mahporeem was hesitant to utilize these ships in its navy due to how poorly designed they were, though they did, admittedly, function relatively well in their intended role as transport ships. However, the Imperial Remnant did find a rather niche use for these vessels: as mobile, anti-ship bombs.

When filled with Rhydonium, a volatile but plentiful fuel substance on Mahporeem, the Hardcell-class Transports became incredibly explosive. This, coupled with their fuel cells and rockets boosters, allowed the ships to explode spectacularly upon contact with another object. When filled with enough Rhydonium, a single Hardcell-class Transport could cause significant damage to even a Star Destroyer: provided, of course, the Hardcell survived long enough to get close enough to its intended target. The resulting explosion naturally meant the loss of the Hardcell and anything it might be carrying.
