SPECIAL FEATURES
  • When a pellet leaves the chamber, it explosively expands into a webbed net of durable material several meters in width. When enveloping a target, it will immediately begin to shrink/constrict to limit movement.
  • Has a built-in, wireless controller for nets with a 40-meter range. Able to adjust the size/contraction of fired nets, through dials on the side.
  • Variety of Ammunition Available, 'Shells' being made of different colors to differentiate:
    • Standard: Netting that uses high-tensile materials such as Duracord with weighted ends, fit to contain up to big-game - just to make sure that extra-strong victim doesn't get any ideas.
    • Electro-Net: The recommended and most common option, the Electro-Net (Otherwise known as a 'Stun Net') uses a standard netting with embedded stun threading/filament. This allows it to conduct a variable electrical charge, capable of stunning organics and droids alike. The intensity of this charge is controlled by a dial on the side, capable of paralyzing, K.O'ing, or outright killing with high enough settings.
    • Razor Net: A particularly dangerous munition, Razor Nets utilize the same high-tensile material as standard, but embed razor-sharp barbs that will harm and hold a struggling or moving victim as a deterrent for escape attempts.
    • Bio-Net: A rarer (and more expensive) version of netting derived from a Bio-Cocoon, the Bio-Net consists of Standard netting coated in a layer of micro-organisms that feed off of bioelectricity. Upon contact and activation, these creatures multiply and spread rapidly, forming a porous cocoon about as strong as Durasteel that will harden around a victim and lock them in place for easy transportation - almost reminiscent of Carbonite freezing, although the victim will still be conscious. The net has built-in controls to activate the microorganisms or kill them to release a prisoner.
    • Other applicable Tangle Pellets.
STRENGTHS
  • Bagged and Not-Tagged: Firing a rapidly-expanding, multi-meter wide net from a pellet that can fit inside a pistol is a great way of catching foes off-guard. There's only a small hiss of air when it is fired, it's difficult to evade, and there are several options at disposal to allow for more versatility to fit a situation. A wookie, or perhaps even a Gundark, are likely to struggle against a well-placed shot with the right ammunition.
  • Adjustable: Dials on the side of the weapon allow one to remotely control fired munitions, including how tightly nets should be constricting a target and what charge frequency it should deliver for payloads like the Electro-Net.
  • Rapid Capture: Unlike some of its competitors, the use of compact 'Pellets' as its munition allow for a faster fire-rate, as there are not as many issues in readying the next shot when compared to weapons such as a typical Stun-Net launcher.
WEAKNESSES
  • Close and Personal: Due to its compact size, the HAP-24 does not have an excellent range. These are better suited for close-quarters engagements with a quarry compared to longer ranged, big-game hunting alternatives offered by equipment like the Stohkli Spray Stick. Additionally, the controller of munitions on the pistol has a range of 40 meters - making it a possibility to outrange further manipulation of fired nets by a victim.
  • Pellets, Please: Given the usage of 'physical' munitions, the Tangle Gun has a small ammunition pool. If fired regularly, more ammunition will need to be carried to supply it.
  • Less-Lethal: Tangle Guns are meant to be used as a safer and more effective alternative for capturing quarry (with the right ammunition), and many of the kinks of older models have been worked out. However, if a user is not paying attention to the strength of the settings, it could cause great harm to victims that are weaker. Although, for some Bounty Hunters, that isn't an issue.
DESCRIPTION

In an effort to start to re-incorporate much of his old equipment with his re-appearance as a Freelancer, Samuel set out to update aspects of his loadout that may be found, lacking. With the entry of far more agile foes than he as of late, the idea of Bolas, Nets, and other entrapment tools came to mind. Not only were they useful in the midst of a fight against such an adversary, but they provided a handy way for an enterprising Bounty Hunter to capture acquisitions. As such, with some more research, an updated model of the 'Tangle Gun' has been created.

Utilizing a 'clip' of Tangle Pellets, each contain a highly compressed net that would be typically utilized in larger weapons. When exiting a barrel, the pellet's contents will rapidly expand outwards, bursting out of the small 'shell' that previously contained it and fully unleashing the net within to entrap and capture prey. Due to its compact, lightweight design, the HAP-24 Tangle Gun is an excellent sidearm for Law Enforcement, Bounty Hunters, or even Game Hunters, likely to catch foes off guard with its payload in lieu of its small size.
