STRENGTHS
  • Cross Map - With a 650 meter range, the GWE-004 offers a superior effective range compared to most blasters.
  • Cheap and Reliable - Lacking in frills, the GWE-004 is a cheap and reliable weapon, ideal for fielding by outback militias, cultist gangs, and hard-pressed rebels in need of a workhorse weapon capable of engaging man-sized targets.
  • High Firepower - The GWE-004 is rated to engage most man-sized targets, even armored ones. However, the rifle will generally need armor-piercing or explosive rounds in order to reliably penetrate the stormtrooper-style armors that are common across modern battlefields.
WEAKNESSES
  • Capacity - Where most blasters can comfortably hold 100 rounds in firing capacity, the GWE-004 can only hold 20 or 25, depending on the chosen magazine. As such, the GWE-004 generally has less endurance in the field.
  • Ammunition Weight - Pound for pound, energy weapons are generally more efficient than slugthrowers. The GWE-004 certainly is no exception to this. Magazines take space and add weight to any soldier, limiting how many can be carried at a time.
  • Mechanical Mutation - Like any piece of technology, the GWE-004 is susceptible to Mechu-deru and other technology-twisting powers. A talented practitioner of such esoteric sorceries could induce a jam or some other mechanical failure that might compromise the weapon entirely or demand precious time to fix, leaving the shooter vulnerable.
DESCRIPTION
A longer-ranged alternative to the GWE-001, the GWE-004 fits solidly within the class of a slugthrower battle rifle in using a full-sized cartridge, a longer barrel, and superior body armor penetration capability. In the process, the GWE-004 maintains the versatility of its younger sibling, with under and overbarrel rails for the installment of attachments and equipment. However, in order to ease production, Gun-Works decided to forgo the inclusion of an underslung grenade launcher. Fortunately, this and other equipment can be attached by the user, should they choose to do so.

Like the GWE-001, the GWE-004 has been marketed for cash-strapped rebel militias, though by incident, the weapon has also been found in the hands of more disreputable groups as well. In this, the GWE-004’s extreme ease of production (it can be produced at most molecular forges) has seen to its spread, to the point that it remains a fixture in many armories.
