Name: Gwaii Cat (pronounced g-why)

Designation: Semi-Sentiant

Homeworld: Imahalyan (Region: Lou-Zanna)
http://starwarsrp.net/topic/79688-imahalyan/

Language: Has a moderate understanding of Basic, yet does not speak it. Vocal sounds consists of growls, yips, purrs and mews. The Gwaii Cats also use body language.

Average height of adults: 0.65 meters at the shoulder.

Average length of adults: 1.2 meters from nose to tail.

Skin colour: Light to dark grey, depending on maturity.

Hair colour: Various shades of green and blue in the spring and summer months, followed by shades of grey and brown in the winter months.

Breathes: Type 1

Strengths:
+Great Eyesight. Primarily nocturnal, the Gwaii cat has been known to see just as well in the daytime.

+Stealth. In any landscape with an abundance of flora and fauna, Gwaii cats have been able to hide due to the colours and pattern of their fur and their ability to stay perfectly still for hours.

+No Scent. The Gwaii Cat gives off no scent, which makes it an ideal hunter. Even it's purple blood is devoid of scent.

+Sharp claws and teeth. Able to help them secure a good hold on their prey, as well as defend themselves against bigger predators and poachers.

+/-Domesticated. Some Gwaii Cats have been known to be domesticated as pets. They can make great companions, often attaching themselves to one person or family in it's lifetime. However, those born in captivity do not thrive as well as those that came out of the wild on their own. Once they feel it is time to leave their 'owners', they will find a way.

Weaknesses:
-Small size. Compared to other predators, the Gwaii Cat is small enough to only hunt prey which is smaller than itself.

-Curiosity. Though not the smartest semi-sentient creatures, the Gwaii Cat will investigate that which it doesn't know. Not everything is deemed a threat at first glance.

-Territorial. Though they may seem friendly and sociable, Gwaii Cats are extremely territorial and would not allow another of it's species nearer than 15 kilometres, except during mating season.

Distinctions: Their big eyes and small muzzles, coupled with their mix of scales, horns and furs of certain colours, have made them popular among the sentient races that like medium sized exotic pets.

Average Lifespan: 80 standard years

Races: At times those in their winter fur have been mistaken as a different breed of Gwaii cats from those in their summer fur. But they are all the same breed.

Estimated Population: 3 million in the wild on Imahalyan. 500,000+ in captivity on various worlds across the Galaxy.

Diet: Meat from small animals from land, air and water. As well as wild fruits in the spring and summer months. The sugars help brighten the colours of their fur.

Communication: Growls, yips, purrs and mews, as well as body language.

Culture: Solitary. Gwaii Cats are not friendly with others of their species except for mating season. Otherwise they keep and maintain their territories. Litters of cubs range from 1-3, though they tend to average in the middle. Once the cubs are 5 years of age and able to fend for themselves, they are chased out of their mother's territory and set out to make their own. It has been known to happen that some cubs have already left their mothers by that time, for curiosity causes them to stray.

Technology level: None. They don't have the right mindset to understand it.

General behaviour: Their curiosity deems the Gwaii Cat to seem quite sociable, though they are territorial against their own species, except during mating season. When feeling threatened, they can defend themselves with the tools they use for hunting, consisting of stealth, sharp claws and teeth. When they are comfortable with a person or family, they can be quite loving and protective of them. Though at any time when they see fit, Gwaii Cats have been known to abandon their new families out of boredom, in order to become solitary again.

History: Not long after Imahalyan began being populated by humans and other sentient races, the Gwaii Cats were often seen in the forests when their curiosity got the better of them and they allowed themselves to be seen. Some were domesticated and some were even poached for their colourful furs. Those that were captive born didn't live as long as their wild counterparts as they didn't learn the necessary skills needed for survival once they chose to leave their adopted families. Their popularity as pets comes in cycles of every 100-125 standard years.

Notable Player-Characters: None as of yet.

Intent: If approved, Kay will have one as a companion for a time that would travel with her and fill in the hole in her heart a bit as she has yet to allow herself to let another man get close after the death of her husband almost ten years ago.

Wow, these guys look adorable. My Jedi would be all over these. This submission looks good and ready to go for the most part, I only have some minor requests before I stamp this!

Gonna need you to add the type of atmosphere here. Simply adding "Type I" will do.

I want you to add something to the culture. In case you're unsure what to include, here are some suggested topics: are they pack animals, and if so, is there an established pecking order? How do they treat their young? If they do not travel in packs, at what point do the young Gwaii leave their parents? Anything unique about their mating rituals? Etc.

Thanks

Yeah, I wasn't quite sure on those two points, hence why it's a little vague ;)

I'll get those edits in shortly [member="Darth Pyrrhus"]
