Grounded (Avril's Crew/pm to join)

Captain Strider Garon was at the helm of his beloved Avril. The the ancient amphibious gunship had broke through Mandalorian atmosphere and was in route to the Clan Garon Homestead. The Garon homestead was a large veshok log house about ten kilometers north of Keldabe and on the kelita river and fringed by a grand veshok forest. The main entrance was a large double wooden door that one open would expose the main central room known in mando’a as karyai that resembled an ancient dining hall. Complete with a fire pit in the center that was surrounded by a long dining table which was perfect for gatherings of all sorts. If you would look to your left from the main entrance there was a kitchen with a open layout giving it direct access to the karyai. You look to the right and there was a bar that was fully stocked with all sorts of liquor. You look straight ahead and passed the dining room there was double doors that matched the entrance that lead to an outdoor deck and that would lead down a wooden path to the boat house off the Kelita river.

The living quarters were in the basement built of stone, with all the rooms stemming off the single long hallway and a trap door in the center that would lead to an emergency escape tunnels that would lead to multiple redoubts and even secret hidden entrances In the forest.

Attached to the main home were a bunk house that could house twenty guests, more if there was cuddling and a medical room stocked for the worse. There was a mechanical hangar complete with landing pad. All in all it was home and it was Strider’s favorite place In the galaxy and this was where the Avril was going to land.

After he and his crew had successfully earned enough credits, he had invested in some new hardware for his beloved ship and it was time that they finally put some honest work into her. The Avril's oversized engines were to be replaced and heavily modified to increase speed and maneuverability along with a new expensive hyper-drive unit. He had chosen to have the parts delivered a head of time to his homestead where he and his crew could work on the ship in peace and quiet.

The old man smiled as the sight of home could be seen with the naked eye from the cockpit. Strider reached over to the PA System "Alright folks, we be touching down!" He would inform his crew, his voice echoing through out the ship and bouncing off the durasteel bulkheads.

The Avril would begin to decelerate while the landing gear extended with a few heavy clanks. Usually the avril would of landed in the rive and dock off the boat house, but they needed her to be grounded so they could tear her apart and put her back together. Few moments later the ship would land smoothly under the talented command of the old man.

"Welcome home!' He would mutter to himself with a slight grin. He could here the strills baying in the distance.

Akio Diachi

For it was All but a Dream
Akio climbed out onto planet side. The sweet grass underfoot massaged his soles like nothing else. His lungs gratefully took in a deep breath of the living air of the worlds. Nothing on a ship could replace the goodness of the air on a living world.

"Thank the masters," he muttered.

Akio had changed out his typical traditional clothing for a grubby, mostly white sleeveless shirt and worn trousers. his bare arms revealed a hallmark of scars dating back to his childhood, varying from simple slashes to savage burns. It was the type of gruesome scars that made many uncomfortable so he tried to keep them hidden, but for now, he didn't care.

His mind drank in the beauty of the world around him. It was dismal in a way, exemplifying the culture of the people who came from it. While it clearly was not the hall of the gods, it was still lovely in a way. Stalking his way along, the assassin drank in the compound around them, it was Mandalorian in every way. Satisfied, the Chiss looked to the rest of his crew mates. He was not extremely handy with tools but he would do his best to help. And now is a good time to start learning.

Thryykarr

Flying Wookiee.... WITH KNIVES!
Oh, Mandalore... Thryk hadn't been here in nearly ten years. It'd been his home for as long as he could remember, but he'd been away. Even though the Avril had landed, the big Wookiee still stayed in his bunk, staring out the window. He hadn't put a shirt on, yet, and the long scars on his chest were visible because of the lack of fur. Not even caring who saw the ugly marks, he stepped out the door and groggily walked to the cockpit.

"Nice place, old man."

He grinned easily at Strider. The jab was made a little absurd by the fact that the Wookiee was nearly the same age as the Hound of Keldabe.

Mandalor. Zandra had... mixed feelings about this planet. On one hand, it was where she married the love of her life, where she gave birth to her children, raised them. It was where she often came back to.
But on the other hand...
This was where he vanished. It always felt bitter coming home. No. Not home. This was her sons home, her daughters home. It would be her grandchildrens home as well. But it was not her home. Where was home?

...She needed spice. Her veins were itching again. Put her in a foul mood.

The Echani lit up a cigarette with a shaking hand.

Akio Diachi

For it was All but a Dream
Akio watched [member="Zandra Tal'verda"] stalk out of the ship. From the moment he saw her, the woman reminded him of a swirl of emotions and destruction. It was generally his job to know everything about a person--gathering intel was one of his greatest skills--but it didn't take much work to see that she was an addict. And she was a woman who had seen far more than most ever dreamed of. The assassin watched her light up and he felt pity and respect. Pity for a woman who had lost everything. Respect for who she had once been. She reminded him of the once-great monuents to fallen civilizations that stood over grown with vegetation. A pale whisper of our former glory.

He quietly walked up behind her and cleared his throat.

"We have all seen and done things that we regret," Akio said in gentle sincerity. "The pain, the nightmares," he paused and searched for the words he meant. It had always been a challenge for him, a man trained from childhood to be silent, "they are--always there. I know how it feels, the constant nag of regret. Pain. But we cannot let that change who we are or those we left behind, those we fight for," his mind drifted to Dryzl. His mind rolled over the time they had worked together like the rolling hills of Naboo. Naboo, where he had offered the woman a cup of Syndox-laced tea, where the female Chiss had shown him there was an alternative to murder, where someone else finally showed him that he was not an outsider, and the impact that had on his life. He had to force himself back to the present, "those we fight for, we honor them and protect them by being the person they wanted us to be, or we have already lost."

Farmstead
Roughly a kilometer from the Garon Homestead

...the Garon homestead wasn't just as described, it was also the surrounding lands and an additional farmstead that existed roughly a kilometer away from the main homestead. A small farmstead, Garrus Garon called it home, it boasted a solid foundation and roof but was miniature in comparison to the main homestead. The Farmstead had only a handful of rooms which were divided between a living area, kitchen, main quarters and guest quarters enough to sleep between four and six individuals. It was very minimalized as far as modern living went but its occupant enjoyed the comforts that were afforded to him.

-------------

....the Warrior had been working the land during the day and as night fell he enjoyed the fruits of his labor. A fence lined the farmstead of Garrus Garon at roughly a kilometer squared which he'd constructed himself. Wooden posts were pounded into the earth where holes were dug and wooden rails were likewise nailed across to ensure stability. It was the prettiest job but it was completely functional which is all that Garrus wanted. The Mandalorian wanted people to stay off his porch most of the time however he made some concessions for family such as his Brother, Nephews and a few Cousins...

...when the Avril had breached the atmosphere Garrus had been on his porch, reclining backwards on a long couch and drinking from his flask. Tilting his head upwards he'd have tracked the progress of the vessel as it entered the atmosphere producing a small spark due to the heat shields then he'd have raised his flask to his mouth and taken another drink. Out here Garrus was dressed very much like a farmer sporting a tunic that fell to mid thigh, a thick leather belt to hold it secure and heavy boots that he wore when traveling around. Bracers made of leather rounded thick wrists and he looked very mundane compared to how many may have otherwise seen him on the bridge of the Kandosii-type Dreadnaught he commanded as his flagship....

....lifting the flask to his mouth again Garrus would taking a drink from the liquid inside enjoying the burn as he swallowed it slowly before wiping his mouth with the back of his forearm. The Warrior considered taking the Beskad off his wall and venturing out to meet his brother at the homestead to see what new adventures he had been on since his retirement and to inform him of current events on Mandalore but that could yet come in due time. Right now Garrus was enjoying a drink in private and he'd take another before slowly rising to his full height and tucking the flask into the leather belt that he wore...

As the ship breached the atmosphere and began to make landfall towards the homestead of [member="Strider Garon"], the subcompartments within the ventilation system began pouring steam through the shafts, filling them with hot, humid air that would rapidly increase the temperature and gradually overheat the engines. Overheat? That was a bit of an understatement. It would likely cause unintended combustion resulting in catastrophic failure within the sublight engines and fuse or melt both the hyperdrive and primary generator core. All things that would make this bird light up like a vibrant fireworks display on the eve of a Mandalorian celebratory day. Kayleigh wasn't fond of taking part in that kind of festivity, so the sooner the ship was on the ground the better.

The girl kept quiet for now, choosing to reroute the cooling systems from the primary decks to the engineering levels, meaning that the cockpit and living quarters would likely get a bit warm rather quickly, but discomfort surely beat death, so the crew would have to deal for the next few minutes while she worked to keep the thermal temperature from reaching critical mass.

Once the ship had touched down she quickly cut the power to all non-essential systems. The lights on board would switch to the emergency setting, dimming down to the typical red that was standard for most craft. Until the engines were properly cooled there was little she would be able to do in that area. Instead she made her way towards the diagnostics cluster on the far end of the room. A number of the panels were damaged, either due to age or overload, it was really impossible to tell. The first order of business would be to make repairs to these, as they were critical in accurately displaying the status of the ship's electrical and thermal readings. Without it, only the sound of a blaring alarm would let the crew know something bad was about to happen. With that, she set to work, laying out a series of new components and tools to get the job done. It would take some time, and she wasn't entirely certain how many, if any, of the rest of the crew had any mechanical knowledge, or if this was just a mini-vacation for the rest of them.

[member="Garrus Garon"] | [member="Thryykarr"] | [member="Akio Diachi "]| [member="Zandra Tal'verda"] | [member="Meer"] | [member="Semziru Nar"]

For some this was going to be a mini vacation. For the beautiful mechanical wizard and the old man this was going to be a long day full of hard work, labor and more then likely some violent outbursts riveted with colorful language. The moment the old man took his crash harness off he new Kayleigh was at work. All power was turned off and the emergency lights flicked on. "I love that girl!" He would mutter under his breath before stepping out from his chair.

Then there was the walking carpet who for all their sake new how to speak galactic basic. The giant wookie made a jab at his age and the old man just grinned at the beast of a creature. Yeah, he was old but getting to this age was no walk in the park. Even there and then he could feel arthritis in his joints acting up, probably in preemptive strike to the days labor coming their way. "Get off my ship!" he would respond back in jest to the young wookie who was close to his age. "My home, is your home! Go tell the rest of the crew that the pantry is full and the bar should be stocked. Go have fun!'

Strider would then take the stairs up to the engineering deck where he would find Kayleigh, hard at work as usual. He knew his way around a ship and its guts. And there was no way in hell he was going to let her do all the work by herself. Though it probably would go faster, this was his ship and he was going to have a hand in making it great. "Once the engines are cooled off, we will tear the complete suites off. I have two knew sublight engines sitting in crates in my hangar along with our new hyperdrive along with some other gifts that we are going to have fun with"

'So cyar'ika! Where do you want me to start?"

Kayleigh smiled at [member="Strider Garon"] as he made his entrance to her domain. She had known about the hyperdrive and sublight engines, which were a much welcome relief, given that they were all very much past their prime, sort of like Strider, though she certainly wouldn't be the one to remind him of such, his body would do that on its' own. The engines had been operated well over their manufacturing specs, which she believed to be a miracle of sorts, coupled with her engineering skills. A little ego boost never hurt, right? The hyperdrive though, that was junk. It had been junk for the past few months. Every time the announcement was made that they had to use a hyperlane Kayleigh silently prayed to the starship gods that they would stay in tact during the jump. Someone, or something must have been smiling on her, or the crew, given that they had made it this far.

"Well Cap'n, it shouldn't take too long for the engines to cool, I rerouted the ventilation directly to them, so it's going to get hot in here soon, and by hot I mean Tatooine during a heatwave hot." She fanned herself in a joking manner. "But for now, if you want to start removing the electrical panels from the far wall there we need to rewire a few of the channels leading to the clusters I am working on here. They either frayed or fried at some point so we have no readings on most of our diagnostic equipment. Also we'll need to replace a number of fuses, and upgrade others to higher capacity amperage. This ship draws a lot of power, but we don't have the proper grid to carry it right now, and I think that is causing a lot of our problems."

(So this is where those other posts were from... >.>)

[member="Kayleigh Tyven"] [member="Strider Garon"] [member="Akio Diachi "] [member="Zandra Tal'verda"]

Sem had been hiding out in the cargo hold, working on their stitching project once more. Between the lull of the ship and the diverted attention of the other crew members, the Clawdite had managed to drift off to sleep, thread and cloth perched precariously in their hands.

But even with Strider's expert landing, they woke up.

Letting out a yawn, they stretched briefly and stood up, making their way through the ship. They spotted Akio and Zandra leaving the hull, and decided to follow their example. As much as Sem loved to be in space, even they needed to have a breath of fresh air.

The Clawdite paused, then, not knowing what to do. Even after being with these people for a while, even hitting it off a bit with Kayleigh, Sem hadn't grown close enough to the others in order to invite themself to the conversations. And while it didn't seem like Sem's Clawdite form bothered the others, one could never tell. They looked over at the Echani and the Chiss, not wanting to disturb their conversation; they looked to the house, unsure if they were allowed in. Perhaps a walk to the horizon is in order, they decided.

Approximately twenty minutes later (Sem had walked slow, enjoying the views), a small farmstead came into view. And as they got closer, they saw a human figure ([member="Garrus Garon"]) on the front porch. The Clawdite stopped mid-step, suddenly conscious of their appearance -- it was painful to shift form, and they were currently in their natural appearance. What should we do? Sem was already close enough that the other figure probably saw them, and to turn away may elicit offense on the figure's part.

Which meant the only thing to do was to keep walking forward. Besides, it is not like I mean any harm, they thought, attempting to suppress a shiver of trepidation.

"Aye aye Boss!!" Strider responded to his prized mechanic with humor. Though hidden in the humor was truth, she was the boss while he or anyone else for that matter stood on the engineering deck and anything else to do mechanically involving the ship was Kayleigh's domain. Strider could handle his own with a hydrospanner, better then most, but his skills did not match the wizard before him. This is why the ex supreme commander was now his trusted mechanic. She had a natural born gift and the old man praised and honored such for he knew that it was her mechanical ingenuity that would keep this boat flying and them all from evaporating into millions of particles from a hyperdrive accident.

So, the mandalorian discarded his nerf hide duster and gun belt off to the side along with his beskar chest plate at the warning of increased heat. He stood their with a utility belt, his black trousers and boots and a worn out muscle shirt. He gripped his hydrospanner and went to work on removing the electrical panels. the bolts that held the panels in place were not match to the hydraulic power of this multipurpose and universal tool.

"I need to know for my own sake, are you able to work a classic system such as the Isu-Sim SSP05?" Strider would question his mechanic. He needed to know for sure for what they are about to do is modify and jury rig a hypdrive system beyond legal limits that could make the ship one of the fastest in the galaxy but also could also spell certain death to them all. "Be more exact, I have.... I have a hypedrive motivator, Rendili transpacitors, paralight relays and a null quantum field stabilizer. This should make us range into the class 1 but can you push it further, can you make my baby fly 0.5?"

Thryykarr

Flying Wookiee.... WITH KNIVES!
Thryk barked out a laugh in reply as he watched Strider walk away towards where Kayleigh was probably squirreled away in the engine room. He considered putting a shirt on for a moment, but the inside of the ship was hot, and he figured he could probably just jump into the water when he got outside. In the meantime, though, he knocked on Zandra's door.

"Hey, Z, the old man's invited us to drink all his booze."

[member="Zandra Tal'verda"]

Oh good. Another Chiss who knew oh so much. The Echani sighed, taking a long drag of her cigarette. Such advice...

"Yeah? Thanks, I guess," she shrugged, not wanting to be too rude, "But you're wastin' pretty words on an ugly, bitter old woman."

She managed a tiny smile, gave [member="Akio Diachi "]a pat on the shoulder, then went back inside. No. She didn't want to be here. Probably for the best that she just stay behind while they had the fun. She had a tiny supply of 'Stardust' stashed under her mattress. Her veins were itchin' again. Time to shoot up again.

She stopped as the wookiee knocked on her door, cigarette burning between pale fingers. She cleared her throat, letting him know that she was not in her room anymore.

"I dunno, I ain't exactly... up fer heavy drikin' for once, Furball..."

Akio sighed inside. He had honestly tried to do the right thing, to reach out, but it had fallen flat on its face. He rubbed his face and shook it off. It appears they bond through drinking severe quantities of alcohol. Every bone of his body said not to. That he had been trained to forever be vigilant and never take an ounce of alcohol was one of the building blocks of his beliefs. He sighed. It was worth a shot ((See what I did there? ;) ))

"[member="Thryykarr"]," Akio said, following the wookiee, "A glass of your finest please."

Thryk smiled crookedly at Zandra as he spun around to face her. She didn't want to drink? Odd. He wanted to find out why, but that didn't really seem like something he could ask about in front of the Diachi kid. Instead, he just rolled his eyes in mock-exasperation.

"You're gonna let me drink alone with this kid? He's gonna pass out on me."

He tossed a grin in the Chiss' direction, just to make the comment a little less insulting. The kid was pretty much alone among the crew in never drinking. Too bad for him three of his crewmates were heavyweight drinkers.

Akio looked at the wookiee and blinked, deadpan. Always something, I suppose. He felt the not-so-subtle hint to leave; at least not subtle for him. Akio understood; they had been together for quite some time after all, and a level of privacy was preferred. He stalked towards the homestead, not bothering to bow.

"I will be at the bar."

The house was very rustic, and beautiful in its own way. The Chiss took a few minutes to appreciate its craftsmanship before walking deeper inside. The flooring felt cool and sweet under his bare feet. It was a welcome difference to the almost-overheating flooring of the Arvil. Akio took a seat at the bar. He examined the bottles. He had no clue which was which, or the slightest idea what each would do. It was a dazzling collection. He debated whether to wait for the others or not. I might as well show some initiative in the matter. Picking a random, unlabeled bottle, Akio poured himself a shot and swallowed it. He grimaced and poured another. Nothing pleasant about this at all. Perhaps the first is just rough going down.......

Aden had heard the ship come in, but took his time in running out to meet the crew. He was getting older, and he didn't want to be the kid who ran out of the house yelling daddy at the top of his lungs. Of course he was excited to see Stri'buir, as his friend [member="Mesh'la Hokan"], had taught him to say. It fit because more of his life had been spent not knowing the man. He may have never known him either had his mother not died. It was a good thing to know his buir though. Aden liked him.

Being on the Garon homestead, Aden did not worry about his armor. He was dressed in a pair of canvas work pants, and had work shirt on as well. There were always chores to do, and more when Strider was gone. At leasthe was trusted to remain behind, but Aden was itching to get to work with his buir. Yeah he liked being planet side, he had friends, and would miss them, but he wanted to be around family. This would allow him to be with them more, and learn what it meant to be a man.

"Su'cuy, Stri'buir," he said walking up to where the mando was. "Got any work for me, and do I get to come on the next job?"

Within the quarters of Ydrin, a snort rang out as the messy haired blond jerked away, his body snapping up from where it lay sprawled across his desk. Cluttered across the desk were sheets of paper and numerous journals as Ydrin preferred to work with written documents, not liking how easy it could be to access electrical files. Stretching, his hand catching a pencil and knocking it to the flooring beneath him, Ydrin pushed himself up, cringing when the dead muscles in his legs protested the sudden flow of blood to them. Twisting his back, a sighing as a loud crack rang out, Ydrin's voice cut through the silence of the room.

"Y8, update."

"Confirmation: Yes Master." The dimmed lights of Y8's ocular processors brightened significantly as the droid shifted out of his standby mode. "Statement: At 06:00 Nabooian Time-" A sigh and raised hand from Ydrin stopped the droid in the middle of his sentence. Pinching the bridge of his nose, Ydrin reissued his order. "Y8, update. And keep it to necessary facts if possible. When will I learn." The last part was said silently as Ydrin pulled a shirt over his head.

"Sarcasm: Why, Master, is you brain too slow to keep up? Statement: The Avril has landed on Mandalore at the Garon Compound. Currently the Captain and Mechanic are bellow servicing this pathetic, uncivilised, bucket of bolts with the total capacity o-" "Y8." The warning was clear in his tone. "Confirmation: Yes Master. Continued Statement: The Furry Beast - Big and the Spicer are on board, as is the Furry Beast - Small. The Chiss is not currently on board."

Pulling his jacket on, Ydrin turned to leave his cabin, holding in a sigh at his droid's habit of giving people he had close contact with a nickname of some form, even if Y8 never used them in front of the people, it still annoyed the ex-noble.

"Y8, follow." Ignoring the confirmation from Y8, Ydrin strode through the med bay outside of his quarters before making his way to the engineering deck to see if he could help, making a mental note as he did so to mention to Strider that he needed to gather the crew at some point for an extensive medic check.

Kayleigh smiled at Strider and turned her gaze back towards her own task, tearing away at the clusters to re-run a series of patches along the inside rails to tidy things up. She preferred things to be neat and orderly whenever she made repairs so that in the future it would be an easier task, should she ever have to come back to it. It was a hell of a lot easier than trying to organize everything as a single task, one could never tell if you were about to break something else in the process with these old ships.

As she worked she overheard the questions posed by the older man, asking if she were capable enough to break legal restrictions on the ship in order to increase its' performance. The brunette turned her head back to look at Strider with a single raised eye.

"Of course I do. I was a mechanic long before I ever joined the Republic's Navy. I used to work on scrap ships with my father as practice. I never got the fancy things until I was stamped with a rank and serial. If you want this thing to go faster, I will make it happen. Of course, you'll never be able to register the ship ID again at any Republic records station, so we'll have to skirt the officials or pay the right people off."

Wiping her forehead to clear away a bit of sweat that had begun to bead across her face due to the rising temperature she gave a few rough pulls against another cluster's outwards panel, tearing it from the sidewall so that she could continue.

"If we're gonna make magic happen though, we're going to need to optimize the power draw on just about every system. If we can reduce the overall drain on the power generator by about 17% it should be enough to compensate for the increase in draw from the hyperdrive, otherwise we may just blow the power core and we'll be floating aimlessly." She laughed at the thought, how long could the crew remain sane drifting about in space.

"The new engines will be a good start though, they should at least prevent the cooling systems from having to go into overdrive constantly, and we wont be standing in a hot box like we are right n-." Kayleigh paused as she heard the footsteps of another person wandering in. Looking over with a single eye while she worked she noticed Ydrin and his droid. "It seems we have company, Cap'n." She smiled at Ydrin. "Welcome to the hottest place on board! What are ya doin' down here, Doc?" She was almost too cheerful in her statement.

Akio tried to pour himself another glass. For some reason, the counter decided to move on him, bathing itself in the clear liquid. Akio grunted at it, "Fine, I don't need you away way," and he took a swig from the half-empty bottle.

Streams of the highly-alcoholic content flowed down the sides of his mouth. The Chiss belched and furrowed his brows, "Where [member="Thryykarr"]? He sould be here by now. Maybes he gets lost."

Akio stepped off the stool, but the ground decided to play tricks with him and toss the man on his face. Standing up unsteadily he muttered, "Fething Bantha poodoo di'kut planet...."

As he weaved to the door, swaying Akio began singing heartily a tuneless stream of nonsense at the top of his lungs. He knew no real songs, only chants, but that wasn't stopping him from making his own. He stopped by the door and looked the massive Arvil over. A snickering laugh took him over and he stumbled forward again. Though long, arduous, and filled with missteps and falling on is face, Akio eventually made his way to the ship. Clamoring, in he started shouting, "Thryykarr? Thryykarr? Where are you, smelly, dirty, over-grown wampa rat? You gots to try this stuff--its amashin. Its--"

His second statment was cut short by falling head over heels down a flight of stairs. Landing on his back the Chiss blinked a few times dazed, "Feth. Karking planet did it again." He tired to get up, to no avail. The drunk shouted, "Kark Rodien bohpa see wa planeeto!"
