Ground Control to Major Tom

She looked back over the ship and nodded. Right, a bit of hard breathing to get some weapons strength? That’d give them what they needed. She nodded to the other cadet. Give the kid what he needed. Kaia was going to need the ship to be at peak performance, and the problem was that she didn’t have her own ship. She needed to grab one of these Niathals and use it to the best of its ability. Could keep it on the Wandering Star, after all. A ship that was 100 plus meters? That’s big for her.

Kid knew what he was doing. Kid, ha, right, because Kaia was barely an adult herself.

She could feel him, getting ready, but unlike him, Kaia was feeling perfectly fine here. Reaching out to the Force, it was habit. Her brother and aunt taught her to use the Force in combat, and she could feel Boo, the way he was grabbing the Force. The… darkness. Was everyone around her dark?

“Computer, start a jump calibration. We need out of here, yesterday!” Frontiers Corps had some advanced ships. Shouting at them sometimes worked. She pulled the ship into a bank, a bit more nimble than the Star, she looked out into space. “They’re comin’ ‘round.”

The Pantoran remained steady at the controls, allowing his senses to take over.

He wasn't paying attention to the sensor feeds. Instead, his amber eyes seemed to be gazing off into space as he tapped into the Force and waited for inspiration on when to strike. When it arrived, the boy was not at all surprised to find a target neatly lined in the crosshairs as he pulled the trigger.

Divine intervention. Or luck. Or just the Force.

Who cared, so long as the lasers hit the target?

"Yesterday seems to be hanging around for a bit," the boy deadpanned wryly, as he started recycling the weapons charge and preparing for another volley. If they were going to hit the road... now would be a good time, captain.

Engines at full. She pushed the shuttle through the paces. Kaia wasn’t a fan of getting attacked when she wasn’t expecting it. Hell, she wasn’t a fan of getting attacked either way. Looking over to her gunner, she was curious as to where he was. In the Force, but did it work for him as it did for her? The coming-of-age Starchaser wasn’t sure what was going on in the galaxy, but one thing she knew was that she was here to defend people.

And sometimes you needed to attack to defend properly.

Rolling and weaving from the blasts, she was cussing a bit, rocking the ship through its maneuvers. And that was when the computer granted the calculations. “Hold on!” She shouted as she activated the hyperdrive. This ship was newer than most and the star points started to streak.
