STRENGTHS
- Just Add Water: The Skin can switch from the fishtail "wet mode" to a bipedal "dry mode" to allow the wearer to walk on land.
- Atargatis, But Better: Ishani added some alchemical reinforcement to the Skin, fortifying it against a variety of damage, especially kinetic, EMP/ION, and environmental factors.
- Backup Shield Generator: The shield's purpose is to ensure the survival of the wearer in the event that the suit is punctured or otherwise compromised by allowing them to breathe underwater and controlling their temperature for a short time (hopefully long enough to get to safety).
- Fish Person: While the tail will separate to allow for bipedal walking, the legs will appear to be covered in scales, and the attached fins and artificial gills will still be visible. In other words, Ishani will look rather odd wearing it in public.
- Addictive Clothing: The addictive traits of the Atargatis Skin are still present, making the wearer want to wear it as much as possible.
- Acid Queen: Acids will eat through the material, potentially destroying it.
- Minor Disruption: Even a glancing blow by a disruptor weapon will cause the Skin to disintegrate.
Hoping to obtain an Atargatis Skin for study, Ishani Sibwarra and Arcturus Thesh traveled to the half-submerged city of Pirivena, the site of Chaldea's largest Finfolk community. Of course, their plans went awry when a mermaid they tried to capture fought back. Arcturus used blood magic to kill the her, and after swimming back to shore with the body in tow, Ishani stole the mermaid's Skin.
In the years since then, Ishani has modified the Skin. Her first changes were cosmetic, altering the suit so no one would recognize it as having belonged to someone else. Then she began adding extra bits and pieces, such as the shield generator. The project culminated with her most ambitious alteration yet: she made the suit capable of switching between a bipedal "dry mode" and a fishtail "wet mode".
