PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Slim, yet fit, and accepting that his body has a timer - Garrion is happy to flaunt his silver-white locks. He keeps his hair and face well groomed, treating them the same way he does his uniform, pristinely. Speaking of which, Garrion is almost always dressed formally, more specifically: In uniform. He feels naked without it, and the poor thing's been stuck to him for the last nearly 12k years, so he might as well keep wearing it. There are few instances where he would ever be seen outside of said uniform, being as it is a source of immense pride for him, serving as a living memoir of his time serving in Crusades of the Pius Dea.
Godwyn's expression typically remains stoic, rarely changing even in the heat of battle. His composure works to the benefit of troop morale. His gaze can be likened to that of a dragon's, a fierce, powerful, and unyielding intensity. Those same dark eyes can soften in rare moments, usually when intimately conversing with those under his command.

INVENTORY

  • The clothes on his back
  • His engraved blaster pistol, marked with the words, "Let the Goddess guide my hand" in Aurebesh.
  • An old Pius Dea religious text

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Garrion prides himself on his calm professionalism. He is almost always clear and composed, yet never harsh or analytical. He speaks truthfully, carries himself in a formal manner, and is respectful rather than confrontational. He is also most capable of listening to what others around him have to say, rather than giving in to his own pride.
The things most deserving of respect to Garrion are: A soldier's sensibility, skill & competency on and off the battlefield, and personal honor. Though his enemies may cross lines, Garrion is determined never to break his principles.
It is common for him to engage in routine exercise, both as a means of staying fit (and staving off the 'carbon sickness'), but also as a means of keeping himself disciplined.

Garrion is a man out of time, living in a galaxy completely alien to him. He remains zealous to a faith long since extinct, and retains many strong principles. He is accustomed to a galaxy where war is a common and necessary tool, and where the forces of evil must be extinguished in order to usher in an age of peace. Not one of political intrigue, shifting alliances, and where Galactic governments prefer to avoid bloodshed rather than settling affairs on the battlefield.
What motivates Garrion is his undying fervor for his Goddess - a belief that he was preserved for the purpose of enacting her will, viewing it as his duty to carry on the traditions of her faithful, in combating the forces of evil wherever they may be found.

Despite coming from a religion based around humanocentrism, Garrion was of the kind with a rather simple doctrine: "If they convert, they are not the enemy."
Race has far less to do with Garrion's ideology than the actual conduct of the person at hand, and their personal skill - leading him to heavily resent factions such as the Sith, whom he views as perverting the will of the Goddess for their own selfish desires. He views factions such as the Jedi as naive, but closer to the truth than many others.
'The Force' as it is known, is a very real thing for Garrion - only, it is not a substance, or some vague cosmic energy, but a being init of itself, a benevolent Goddess who rewards her faithful, and brings about the destruction of those who reject or distort her vision.
To Garrion, anyone who holds to these same truths is a Brother or Sister worth fighting and dying beside on the battlefield.

Beyond this - Life is itself sacred. It is something to be cherished, which is why he is quick to offer peace rather than harsh concessions, unless the latter will lead to less conflict in the future. Despite his immense zealotry, he holds to the opinion that redemption is a real possibility. He attempts to be chivalrous in battle - respecting surrenders, treating P.O.W.'s favorably, etc. Garrion finds these to be useful tools at dissuading further confrontation.

STRENGTHS

- Zealous Inspiration: Even as he grew older (with his superiors trying their best to discourage him from doing so), Garrion would never shy away from fighting alongside his men. He was determined never to lose touch with the common soldier, always present in the trenches, issuing fiery declarations before and after battles, rallying his men and inspiring them to fight till their last breath.

- Restraint & Adaptability: Garrion is careful, yet not indecisive. He simply refuses to throw away lives, only dispensing manpower when he deems it vital. To him, every soldier and every asset is of immense value, someone who could go on to train future generations, and contribute more to their state than just a single arbitrary sacrifice. He thinks in the long-term, understanding that a costly victory must only be the case if it is necessary. Sometimes, a tactical retreat can be the more optimal outcome.
If the enemy knows your strategy? Good, you now know they're competent. Time for plan B. That is his M.O., rather than panicking and collapsing the second the enemy turns things against him.

- Battlefield Control: Garrion is an Officer who understands the factors of battle from a perspective that doesn't just boil down to suicide charges and mindlessly shouting "For the Republic!" in hopes of victory. Garrion takes steps preemptively to stack as many conditions in his favor. He is determined never to be caught off guard, and to always be the one deciding when battle is to begin, rather than have it be forced upon him by any opposing army.
Logistics, troop morale, geography, weather conditions, knowing enemy commanders, etc. Everything has a place in his strategy. Give him an opening to exploit and he'll get 10 times the mileage out of it.

- Unyielding Willpower: Garrion stands not just in opposition to abject evil, but to time itself. He refuses to let his principles be lost to time. Despite living in a galaxy where he is one of few, if not the last of his kind, he refuses to abandon his faith. When he sets his mind to something - he will accomplish it. It is only a matter of time.
If the situation is hopeless? If no one else stands to fight for a galaxy clinging to its last breath? His response is: "Then I shall fight alone, but not impeded."

- Pragmatism: Garrion is very much willing to make hard calls when possible. If he must ally with someone he may not agree with as a means of defeating a larger threat? He will. Though, this Pragmatism has limits. He is flexible when needed, but if he believes an arrangement violates his ideals, he will shut it down.

WEAKNESSES

- Cultural Shortsightedness: Garrion is a man who was indoctrinated from birth to hold on to his ideals. His views may often clash with that of others for many varying reasons, with him holding his beliefs to be the absolute standard of truth. Though - he still makes an effort where possible to understand opposing viewpoints, even if he may not agree with them.

- Rationality Glasses: Garrion views the world through structured concepts. If he encounters something he cannot predict, he is forced to do his best to counter it through mediums he is familiar with. This isn't his Achilles heel, though it can certainly throw him off on a campaign should he be dealing with unfamiliar tactics. If he simply doesn't know how to beat something? He'll make the call to pull back and attempt later, if possible.

- Reliance on Control: In certain situations, if the enemy recognizes his strategy and simply refuses to play into his hand, calling his bluff, it is possible he may have backed the wrong horse and be put on the back foot until he can recover, which, can prove devastating depending on the context of the battle.

- 'Outsider' Status: Garrion is a very new and relatively unknown presence in the Galaxy, and many have a valid reason to doubt his claims of being nearly 12k years old. He has yet to make a name for himself in the galaxy - one people and soldiers can look up to and trust. This is something that can occasionally prevent him from making progress in situations where someone just the same as him, albeit with a reputation, could be taken more seriously in.

HISTORY

Garrion was born in 11,028 BBY, and was fairly young before being indoctrinated into the military of the Pius Dea. He never knew much about his father, other than that he was, "A valiant warrior, with the utmost devotion to his Goddess", or so he'd been taught anyway. Deep down he was sure every other boy and aspiring soldier was told the same thing.
The young cadet would frequent records as much as he could. Every time he heard of the great crusades over the holonet, he would do his do-diligence to study up on them, as if preparing himself for what was to come.

Outside of his personal studies, Garrion found himself frequently playing war games with the other cadets, desiring to pursue a place in the officer corps once he demonstrated his tactical mind against one of the trainers. He performed admirably, his prior studies on tactics greatly contributing to his performance, even if still ultimately losing the game. Though, his instructor taught him a valuable lesson - Failure always brings new knowledge.

As Garrion gradually rose the ranks over the years, he would become a well renown commander, set apart for his comparatively low casualty rates, and the respect and ferocity he commanded from those fighting under him. Though he was never placed in active command over the military, Garrion still secured himself a comfortable position.
Though, his time in the military was not without his fair share of controversy. The envious and overly zealous would often complain that Garrion would, "Leave behind too many undesirable elements" after his campaigns, believing that his principle of: "Any soul may find conversion" to be a folly one, if not outright treasonous! Or so they tried to paint him.
However, his competency wasn't something that could simply be replaced, and his faithfulness was unquestionable, as attested to by the Inquisition's Commissars.
Further, Garrion defended his stance by arguing: "Opening the gates of the faith to those we have liberated will quell any further uprising.", combining this with his 'gentle' care over systems which found themselves as targets of the Cult's crusades... there was a grain of truth to his words. More often than not, alien worlds would surrender if they found out General Garrion was the one in command.

By 10,966 BBY - the Pius Dea had come to an end. Garrion found himself among the retreating forces, however, his cruiser ended up crashing in Hutt Space, where he was captured and frozen in Carbonite as a bit of irony on the part of the crime syndicate. His 'corpse' was then traded around many times, literally as an antique. After many centuries of being relegated to a wall decoration, it was believed that Garrion had long since died of carbon poisoning - with claims that the Hutts had intentionally done the procedure poorly, for fears he should be awoken. While obviously untrue, this rumor persisted among those who held ownership over his body.

It would not be until 902 ABY that he would finally be thawed out - released upon the Galaxy once more by elements looking for someone with his abilities to aid their causes.
Now, Garrion finds himself adjusting to a galaxy completely foreign to him - learning the legends of 'Ancient Sith', struggling to accept that he has truly been 'asleep' for so long.

Regardless, Garrion shall always keep moving - so long as his Goddess wills him to do so. Rest is a gift awaiting him in the afterlife. Now? It is time to build.

LORE / ROLEPLAYS:

NOTE: These will be arranged in relation to when they chronologically occurred for Garrion, not strictly the timeline of the Server's canon.

ARC I: The Thaw

Garrion finds himself awakening in an unfamiliar galaxy, awoken by the leader of a movement he will soon become a part of.
Her name?: Ra'a'mah, leader of the United Protectorate of Sovereign Systems. She finds him on Choken, frozen in a block of carbonite. After thawing him out and rescuing him from the vault of a small gang lord, she would update him on the state of the galaxy - giving him the option to go on his own, or join her cause. He would choose to follow her without hesitation.

After exploring the galaxy for the first time in ages, the old general found himself encountering a tech-savvy Jawa on Tatooine, getting the little creature to fix his blaster, and convincing him to join the cause.
