"I'm not little..." she said at first in her act to look cool and be tough, but she quickly regretted it and grabbed her dad's hand again. She liked being his little star, and she really didn't want him to stop calling her that. It was a name he had given her before he disappeared for a while, and it would always remind her of him.

The two Jedi then finally reached the entrance of the city, and as expected, several armes guards appeared. They didn't raise their weapons and they didn't feel threatening though, but it was obvious they were suspicious.

Perhaps it would have been different if there hadn't be city people with the group already.

"Very well, give us just a moment," Zarel, the head of the scouting party said before she stepped forward and allowed the guards to lead her into the city. Vera watched it happen, blinked and looked at her dad, then at the leader of the Hill people not far behind him. Which reminded her, "I don't even know his name. I should have asked that, huh?" She giggled but her little multi-colored eyes then spotted something that drew her attention away completely. Something more important than this Elder's name.

A food stall.

But she had to focus.

But snackies...

Her stomach growled and puppy eyes shifted up to her father already. Fuzzy, however, was not waiting for permission and appeared from her backpack to sneak his way over to the food stall. He was on a mission to acquire food, and he had no coin.

Kahlil glanced down to Vera, then towards where Fuzzy had already gone off to. He was paying attention to everything right now, to make sure there wasn't going to be a misunderstandings. Which also meant no stealing food. he reached down, casually plucking up the Raycon before looking to Vera.

"Yes, you should learn his name. And invite him to food, if you're both so hungry." He glanced to Fuzzy, chuckling.

"It'd be a good olive branch."

Fuzzy flailed and screeched when Kahlil casually picked him up, and Vera blinked, "Be gentle with him," she said before walking over to snatch Fuzzy from her dad's hands. She put him on her shoulder, puffed her cheeks and looked up at him as if he had done something terribly wrong. At least, until he made some very good points instead.

Good points that also meant she'd be getting food.

"Okay!" She grinned, turned on her heels and walked over to the elder. "I'm Vera Noble, Jedi Padawan! What is your name, sir?" she asked very politely, which only got the man to chuckle some more.

"Erak Vazlo," he replied, shortly before offering Kahlil a respectful nod.

"Do you want to come get some food with us while we wait? It smells yum!" she called out, and Erak simply nodded while he followed her along to the food stall. The food there was meats of some kind with spices, impaled on sharp sticks. It smelled amazing, and Vera was practically drooling while she stared at, of course, the biggest one of them all.

"Do you really believe she can help turn this war around, Master Jedi?" Erak then asked Kahlil. "This has been a long conflict."

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil raised a brow as he watched Vera, then looked to Fuzzy on her shoulder. After a second he just dipped his head in an apology, but said nothing more on it. Instead he glanced to Erak, briefly giving him a smile as he spoke directly to Kahlil.

"Vera is unique. She can see things that most people can't. In ways most people, even Jedi, can't. If the future she sees is one of peace, I've no doubt she has the ability to bring it to your people. She is, after all, her mother's daughter."

Fuzzy licked Kahlil's hand to accept the apology, and Vera just giggled a little. She knew her little friend well, and he wasn't really upset with her dad at all. Now he was just messing around, the way he should as part of the Noble family. Vera, meanwhile, turned to the food stall and picked out the most delicious looking things for herself, though also for their guest.

This was a diplomatic mission, so she couldn't snatch all the best snacks for herself.

"That is quite a gift, or perhaps even a burden, for someone that young," Erak said while he looked at the young Noble, who right now seemed so innocent. She was just eating her food, looking up at her dad and some stranger she had just met, but was willing to help out.

Just like her mother had, all those years ago.

"Dad, the guards will come back soon," Vera said whilst offering him some food too. "We'll be okay but there are going to be people who don't like making peace. Can we keep Mr. Vazlo close?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"It's been both, thus far. But I wouldn't underestimate her too much. She is a Padawan, after all."

She might not have her own master yet, but she was no longer a youngling. That alone brought it's own pride in him. Kahlil took up the offered food, nodding once. It's what he expected, and the main reason he was still rather tense and ready. There would always be people against change. Mostly those who'd loose something material to it. War brought in a lot of cash, after all.

"Keep your senses alert, but there's no reason to expect an attack yet. I'd hope they wouldn't try to strike with a pair of Jedi here."

"She has already proven that she's worthy of our trust," Erak said with a warm chuckle before watching her offer food to her father. Jedi were often quite mature because of their role, he assumed, but he could tell there was something unique about this young one. Of course, not entirely unexpected with her parents and the guidance they can offer her.

"They won't, but they might try if we leave him alone. Or try to separate us." Vera bit off far too much and stuffed both her cheeks, making it impossible to speak more until after she had swallowed some of it.

"...Come on, they're coming," Vera then said and mere seconds later, the guards appeared up ahead. Leading them was Zarel again, who dipped her head to Kahlil and the elder first, before turning to Vera. "You're permitted an audience, so please, follow us to the Town Hall."

Vera blinked and looked up at her dad. "Does that mean I have to talk again?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Oh they won't be separating us, not easily, anyway. In fact."

Kahlil put the crepe Vera had bought in his mouth, pulling out a small slab of what looked like steel. In a way it was. Sith steel, now purified. He'd been working on and off on the pieces he still had with the intent of finding a way to help purify Seszil without the explosive results of his first blade when he fought Kyrel. The Force shifted with his control, emblazoning the slab with a rather complex looking rune before he handed it over to Erak as he took out the crepe with his now free hand.

"If we're separated, and you find yourself in danger, swipe across this."

"Woah," Vera said when she watched her dad pull out a slab of metal, only to alter something about it with the Force. Much about it was stil mysterious to Vera, even though her mind saw a side of ot that very few experienced the way she could, but that only made the Force so amazing to her.

There was always something new to learn, and mom and dad especially had so many cool things to show her!

"Very well, Master Jedi," Erak said before he turned to follow Zarel and the other guards of the City People. Vera walked behind them, but upon entering the rather large and busy city, she did reach for her father's hand to be safe, and for just a little bit of comfort.

She could do this.

"There, that's the building I saw, dad," Vera then ssid when they approached the Town Hall, a building decorated unlike any other in the city. With grand statues, gold and other expensive materials, it marked the center of politics here.

"Dad? The person waiting for us is a mean one..."

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil glanced to the wondered Vera with a raised brow. It wasn't the first time they'd used runes. And, well, she'd been able to use her own. Thinking about it it'd probably be good for them to work on utilizing that in the future. And possibly others, if she had an aptitude for it. Vera was still very much his daughter after all. Sorcery was hereditary. Kahlil squeezed Vera's hand as they went deeper into the city, letting his senses act as his eyes.

His and Vera's.

"Well, if that's the case I suppose we should be on our best behavior. Just knowing their intention already gives us the upperhand. They'll do what they can to undermine Erak, so we should avoid giving them anything they can use."

Vera smiled up at her dad, just to make sure that he knew she wanted to learn more. She had gotten her first taste of runes already, but there was so much more one could do with them. Her mother was still very limited with the concept, but Vera wanted it to be something special for her. Something her dad could teach her so she could be just as awesome as him and blow away her family!

Especially now that Aris was spending time with mom to learn too. She loved her brother, but there was no way she'd let him get ahead of her. The inner Noble was far too competitive for it.

"I'll be good, I promise," Vera then finally said as they entered the Town Hall together, hand-in-hand until the moment she spotted the man they were going to talk to. Dressed up in a fancy, black suit that nicely contrasted his pale blue skin, the older Galacian looked at the new arrivals.

"A child?" He asked. "My guards and the Hill people speak of a great diplomat, and you bring a child before me?"

Erak nodded and followed the Nobles inside. Or, well, Vera really - she clearly didn't like being called a child in such a demeaning way by this leader of the City people. Her cheeks were a little puffed, she stood as tall as she could, and her eyes burned the way Valery's often did before someone got in trouble.

But Vera remained calm.

"I am Padawan Vera Noble, of the New Jedi Order. I am young but it will not stop me from doing what is right. My Mom and her people fought to protect all of Gala, and now it is my turn to keep your people from fighting each other." Vera looked proud and glanced at her father for a moment.

"My dad knows better than anybody else what will happen when you fight your own people while a real threat is out there. Sith, Mandalorians...they are coming, and you must be ready." She smiled at Kahlil and her tone shifted from Padawan Noble to Little star for just a moment.

"Right, dad?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil nodded in agreement with what Vera spoke, for once not beaming like a proud father. This was, after all, a serious conversation. And one she seemed to be handling rather well. He glanced to the one upstart in particular, watching and waiting for him to try something. If there was ever a time to, it'd be up until peace was officially announced after all.

"And you believe an Alliance with the Hill people will make a difference?" the man asked Vera. He seemed to take her words seriously, but that also meant he calmly and seriously argued against them, uncaring that it was a child in front of him. If she wanted to play the diplomat, she'd have to answer him like one.

"Our people are technologically far more advanced, so what is the benefit to us? That we get more Jedi sending children to offer assistance? That our people have to die to protect the Hill folk?" he asked and laughed as if the entire idea was laughable. Though... Vera just stared at him.

"If your people really are so much stronger, you wouldn't still be at war after hundreds of years," she said calmly, but there was something to her eyes that only Kahlil would get. A type of smug, bratty behavior that certainly came from... well, both Valery and Kahlil's genes.

The head of the town hall wasn't that amused and glared at the little Noble.

"You dare insult us?"

Vera shook her head, "I'm just stating the facts. You have been at war and still are. But you don't have to be. Your people can share this world and protect it together." She smiled innocently and looked over her shoulder at her father. "Dad? If the Galacians make peace, the Alliance will be able to help them too, right? Or at least the Jedi?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil didn't laugh this time. Mostly because he was glaring at the outburst of the man speaking with his daughter. She was holding her own quite well in such a discussion, but he was still very much her dad. Anyone who dared to speak to her in such a manner would find only the iciest reception from the Shield of the Jedi. "The Jedi have and always will help those who need help, especially those who suffer under ignorant, bigoted, and or cruel leaders. Rather than leave as what happened in the past, with permission we could build a temple here to hold up our end of that promise."

He glanced to Erak.

"But that is a future discussion. Erak, what would it take for the Hill People to agree to peace?"

"A Jedi Temple? Here on Gala?" He didn't seem to like that idea, but Erak actually seemed to feel positive about it. He had endless respect for the Jedi, as did sll Hill People, though he did agree that now was not the time. They would have to take it in small steps.

"As much as it pains me to admit it, the Hill People are vulnerable if we leave the hills, and we would not stand a chance in the current conflict." He still smiled appreciatively at Vera for standing up for his people.

"So we want a guarantee that we can leave our homes safely."

Vera smiled and looked at her dad, "Non-aggression pact we have them sign before peace talks? Maybe we can oversee it as neutral party and offer protection to all."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"A non-aggression pact would be a given, yes. But that won't stop trouble from arising. Centuries of negative feelings can't be changed by signing a paper. The only way it can change is if people give it a chance to. I'm asking what it would take for the Hill People to give it a chance. And by extension," He turned his gaze to the mayor, his gaze still rather cold from how he'd been treating Vera thus far. Politics still weren't an excuse in his mind to be an ass.

"What it takes for you to want this. Pride is not an excuse to have your people die in a battle you could've ended. Air your grievances, your real ones. All of them. This won't get anywhere if you sit and pretend otherwise."

Vera looked up at her dad and blinked. He really didn't like the Mayor, huh? She could tell by the look in his eyes, and she knew it was because of the Mayor being mean to her. It felt nice, knowing that her parents would never tolerate people being like that to her. But for now, she had to focus on the diplomacy.

Which dad luckily helped a bit with. As much as she liked being able to help, all of this was new to her and it did make her a bit nervous.

She was just a kid.

"A sign of good faith," Erak said. "20 years ago, during the occupation of Hlek-Za, the City People took ancient artifacts of our people as their prize and they currently display them in their museums. Return them to us, and we will give this a chance."

The Mayor narrowed his eyes and decided to weigh in with his own demands, "Very well, but in return, we wish to build a set of mines in the Torek mountains. They are currently impossible to access because of your people, but those resources will be valuable to us all. Especially if outsiders come to wage war against us."

Erak didn't seem to like the idea at all - it meant bringing men and machine to defile nature for resources. But as he looked at Vera's innocent smile and hopeful eyes, he sighed. "Very well, but I would like to make one more request. This one of you, Master Jedi." He turned to Kahlil and smiled warmly.

"We'd like either yourself or your daughter to oversee this exchange."

Kahlil_Div2.png

They were both realistic requests. The last, though, Kahlil glanced between the two. He could be here, perhaps. With the war brewing it meant being away from the front lines. And no, while Vera was a Padawan now she was too young to be here alone. He let out a sigh as he reached up to scratch the back of his head. "I cannot remain here to watch over the creation of the mine. And while I can watch the exchange, your ancestors relied on the Jedi for peace and the Jedi alone. When they inevitably left, well. You've been fighting ever since. We will help bridge the gap towards peace, but the foundations, the maintenance, it must be you and your own people who keep it."
