Private Gala's Secrets

It wasn't as embarrassing as he figured it'd be given her reaction. He smiled softly as he listened to the tune he himself was so familiar with. He loved listening to her sing to their children. To think this was the song she'd practiced even then. Her mother would be overjoyed to know Valery hadn't forgotten. Aris himself was curious. It wasn't a song he knew, not like the others. And he was so very, very enthralled.

"You sing really good, mom."

The only reason it was embarrassing at all is because singing had always felt like opening up a part of her she never showed to people. It wasn't that she feared she'd sound bad, though that was the case when she was younger — she just felt nervous about how people would look at her. A silly thought, especially around her family, but they were all quick to wipe away any of her nervousness.

"Really?" she looked at Aris with a smile and leaned in closer to pull him into a hug. "It's a song you might have heard me sing to the little ones. My mom sang it to me when I was little to calm me down. It comes from a group of warriors on Keshi, that perhaps I can show you someday." She had already visited them with Kahlil and Vera, so why not show her son as well?

"I'm glad you guys liked these though. There are many more, so watch them if you'd like to learn more about me." She did flash Kahlil a quick glance — there were a couple they would have to remove before handing it over to the kids.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Your mom and I will be watching it first, though."

Kahlil caught that glance and decided it'd be best to lay down that law. If there were videos that weren't supposed to be seen by the children, they'd be getting rid of those immediately. He did glance to the children though, who seemed to pout at the thought of missing something. He just chuckled and shook his head. They'd be fine with the lessons, he figured. Though Aris was a bit more curious about a different idea.

"Am I allowed to visit?"

Valery smirked a little when the kids pouted, but none of them spoke up to challenge it. When dad laid down the law, they never did and it wasn't because they were scared. They just respected their parents enough to not test them.

Valery wondered if that would last in puberty.

<Good call, some recordings are a bit too violent and a few are too... private.> she blinked and shot him a sheepish smile. This was going to provoke more teasing but it had to be done.

Then she turned to Aris and blinked at his question. "Of course you are allowed, sweetie. You're my son," she said with a warm smile. "If you really want to go, we'll do it very soon already. Mama and son day out, hm?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

<Oh I figured. You had that 'I might have been a little naughty' expression when you peeked over.>

Oh yes, there would be much teasing later. Right now though he glanced to Aris, tilting his head. The boy nodded slowly, turning to look back at the recording. He wasn't like the others, he knew that much. He wasn't Keshain.

"Okay. That could be fun, I think."

Without warning, Valery jabbed two fingers into Kahlil's side and squinted again. Vera blinked in surprise but that confusion lasted only a few seconds at most - Mom and Dad often had these weird moments between them. Maybe she would understand them better one day, when she was older.

<I was a struggling young woman.> She smirked a little, knowing it was only half truth. Even back then, she could be just a little naughty - it's why her collection of books existed.

Looking at Aris again, Valery tilted her head too. "You think? Of course it's going to be fun." Valery wrapped an arm around his shoulders and pulled him close. "You're not worried about going there, are you? The people... well, most people are very nice."

Kahlil_Div2.png

<Struggling, mmhmm.>

Kahlil didn't even flinch as she jabbed him, just smirked playfully before glancing towards Aris. Aris nodded slowly, seeming to really think it over before looking back up to Valery. "I learned a lot about being Epicanthix. I'd like to learn a lot about being Keshain too."

<I'm getting revenge for all of the teasing today.> She smiled innocently and placed a hand on his thigh, so she could squeeze down a little and make that her warning. Not that it'd scare him much, but she had to fight this battle. <You're going to get it.> A quick wink and she looked at her son again.

The Keshians, having seen what Vera was like, were not going to believe he was a Noble too. He was so calm and thoughtful about all of this, and she couldn't help but smile at him.

"We'll go to where my parents used to live and meet some people in town. Then I'll take you to the island and maybe we'll train some with the warriors there. My mom used to be one, you know?" She ruffled his hair and grinned.

"If there are specific things you want to learn more about there, I'll happily take you."

Kahlil_Div2.png

<The only one getting it later will be you, Valery.>

Kahlil just flashed her a smirk in turn. There was a lot to look through and sort out so it'd be safe for their children to look through. A lot that was going to take a long, long time. He kept quiet about the rest though, letting Valery instead focus on Aris. Who had smiled brighter. "I don't really know anything, so whatever you want to show me is what I'd like to learn."

Valery blinked, then tried so hard (but failed) to keep herself from blushing as their bond revealed all sorts of thoughts and activities. But that was going to be for later, when the kids were not around. Right now, she looked at Aris and smiled in return.

It was good to see him smile and be happy. That was the most important-

"I fought and defeated three Keshian warriors my age, at the same time, when I was there." Valery blinked and turned to Vera, who had a smug grin aimes at her brother. That statement was a pure challenge.

Noble competitiveness at its finest.

Kahlil_Div2.png

Aris tilted his head before looking up again to Valery after he listened to what Vera said. "Is it normal for Keshain to fight such unfair fights and loose?" Kahlil bit back a laugh, instead turning his attention to the daughter in his arms rather than let his mind travel any farther at just how funny a question that was.

Valery blinked again, "H-hey," she stammered. "No, the Keshians are amazing fighters. But-"

"I was just better," Vera said with another grin. "I'm also half Keshian so don't underestimate us, brother." She poked his forehead and squinted at him. "You still have to show you can do the same!" She exclaimed and Valery began to smile a bit sheepishly now.

She really had more Valery in her than she thought.

"I'm Keshian and I'm the best." She looked at Kahlil now, hoping that comment would pull his attention, so she could grin at him.

Right now, he was looking down at Aeryn, and the little Noble stared right back with a happy smile.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Do you hear that Aeryn? Mama thinks she's the best despite having lost in every one of our fights. Isn't that just so silly? Yes it is, oh yes it is." Kahlil, despite very much being in baby talk mode, was still listening. And now teasing Valery without any restraint. Which had even Aris laugh a little before nodding his head. He seemed to understand what Vera was getting at now, and it had quite the smile on his face.

"Okay, then I will."

Valery "That's because of our bond, and you know it. We're equals but very different." Sword and Shield, and she honestly didn't mind that he always beat her. He was just as powerful, but better in control over not just their bond, but also the emotions in a fight together. She got easily distracted.

"I do remember one spar where I heard you squeal when you went down though. Right, Vera?" She grinned, as she referred to the painful nut shor that had landed her a first victory.

Vera giggled and watched her parents closely. If she had popcorn right now, she would be all over it. Aeryn just giggled at her dad and seemed to love it all as well.

"Yeah you better, Aris! You can do it." As much as she liked teasing him, she would always support him too.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Your mother needs excuses and cheap shots."

Kahlil snickered a little, glancing up from Aeryn to smile at Valery. She'd be paying for those comments, later. For certain now. But right now he was more curious how Aris was going to handle these challenges. He seemed to be handling them well. And.. With a grin, no less. He chuckled, reaching out to ruffle his hair. He certainly was their child.

"I can do it, for sure."

Valery pouted, "They're not excuses, but facts. If we're fighting anybody else, we're equals." She caught his smile and grinned a little in return. She knew she was going to get it for mentioning the cheap shot, but it was worth it. She couldn't make this war of teasing too easy on him.

"Maybe I'll try to get better at controlling the bond, and I'll beat you. Maybe Aris can help me train for it." She waggled her eyebrows but also refocused on her son and his upcoming challenge. In a way, it was an amusing thought they were planning out him beating a bunch of Keshian children.

But such was the Noble way.

"We could get you some Keshian battle gear too. As a little souvenir."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"I'd very much like to see that. It'd be good if you could at least put up a fight."

He smirked a little too playfully this time, but his attention was swiftly pulled back to the now jealous of mom getting all of dad's attention Aeryn on his arms and her poking of his cheek so he'd pay her attention again. He just laughed before idly moving Aeryn around in the air as if she was flying.

Aris, though, seemed incredibly curious about such a plan. To the point he had the sparkles in his eyes practically. "If I can help I want to help. And armor never hurts."

Valery looked at Kahlil and squinted. If Aeryn hadn't been in his arms, she would have literally tackled him right now and started a wrestling match. She just couldn't believe all this teasing! She could put up a fight and was just as strong, and-

He knew that but loved teasing her about it. Her lips thinned as she pressed them together, and she let out a soft, totally calm sigh. Though she had a huge smile when she watched Aeryn get jealous - just like her mom, needy for dad's attention.

"Yeah?" She then asked Aris. "Alright, we'll do some training together and show your father. But first, a trip to Keshi. The armor there is really nice though...it's all girls." She chuckled and ruffled his hair. "I forgot to mention it but all the warriors are women, so we'll have to see if they can make you something custom."

"They did for me."

Kahlil_Div2.png

They were all female?

Aris tilted his head after he reached up to fix his hair after the ruffle, seeming deep in thought on that. If they were all woman, was it really okay for him to be there? Mom seemed to be okay with it, so.. He nodded after a moment, smiling wide again.

"Okay. Let's do that, then. It sounds fun."

There was a sparkle in Valery's eyes when her son called her idea fun. She knew it was silly and that her kids would always love her, but she wanted to make their lives fun and interesting as well. She wanted them to be able to be kids, and not just Jedi or the offspring of two Jedi. So with little trips like this, she hoped to make them happy.

"Ohhh, Aris going to play with girlsss?" Vera giggled and looked at him with a teasing grin.

"He's going to show them my kids are the best, actually." Valery looked proud and ruffled his hair again, unaware that he had just fixed it up again.
