Pour one out for the homies

In case you hadn't heard or seen it yet, the Galactic Alliance has gone minor.

So ends an era of a storied faction, a long-run of a faction that did a lot on the board, for the board, and hosted a lot of great stories. So instead of boohooing and being all sad, I thought of something better to remember the Alliance by (but Alan there's two Alliances, I'm lumping the two of them together since they're largely the same don't @ me)

The good stuff!

So, what was some of your favorite moments from the Alliance? A certain post? A character arc? A thread? A funny discord screenshot because you spend entirely too much time on discord calls when you should be working?

For example, I'm biased but I loved Wedge Draav Wedge Draav and Reima Vitalis Reima Vitalis relationship and especially Penny's writing during the invasion of Coruscant. Actually everyone at Coruscant. Coruscant was cool. Good job everyone.

Sully having the evil ship lie in wait BENEATH the senate??? so cool of a moment. First time I was caught off-guard and genuinely surprised by a thread and shocked at what someone could come up with in a long time.

And then Tulan Kor Tulan Kor and his relationship with Nida Heavenshield Nida Heavenshield and Thirdas Heavenshield Thirdas Heavenshield . Those two are my dawgs. Love reading their threads. Also writing with Thirdas is a great pleasure, the guy makes some really heartfelt moments with his characters. I also like how he writes his characters carrying weight through other's actions. Too often do I feel that (even I do it) that Chaos exists in a vacuum, but homeboy does his best to include actions of other characters and how they affect his. He also references older events that would reasonably stick with someone. I love that about him. I love him. he's mine.

Soundwave Soundwave and his cool Senate characters and focus on shady characters.

Matt the Radar Tech Matt the Radar Tech and his characters.

Big Nick Big Nick and his characters and stupid avatar that I'm going to see when I tag him in this when I hover over his name.

Braze Braze and the journey of Braze from FUCKING ANNOYING KID to whatever Braze is doing now.

All of Kitter Bitters Kitter Bitters stuff for the Alliance, good stuff

Trade's cool scheming

DeadpoolMLP DeadpoolMLP and his GADF warposting was always fun to read during invasions. Tanks and stuff

Valery Noble Valery Noble churning out a gatling gun of posts a day to thread with 16,0000000,0000000,000 1/2 jedi a day and always going to meet with new people in the faction

Connel Vanagor Connel Vanagor and his characters always in a faction thread to support the homies

All the people that made the Alliance great and all the stories great, I can't list here because it would take forever and it would start to make me get teary-eyed and Alan doesn't cry in public.

End of an era, gone but never forgotten. I only wrote a little within the GA, here and there, but I have fond memories of writing opposite GA writers while I was with the NIO, BotM and now DE/GE. I loved the NIO/GA cold war storyline, and I've got so many memories from the numerous conquests/sackings of Coruscant. It's crazy to me that after many years, fighting over many of the same worlds, the stories were always fresh. There's always been great writing coming out of the GA, and even if they're gone, I pray the legacy remains and forms the bedrock for new storylines as factions begin to spread into long-time GA territory.

Pouring one out for a center piece of Chaos history

Alan Alan Just for you... here's the stupid avatar but larger

Uh, just a few words for things I'll look back on fondly.

Ko Vuto Ko Vuto thank you for letting me convince you to write a Jedi. Ko is one of my favorite characters on the board and I appreciate his existence.

Braze Braze you already know that I appreciate finally getting to finish a master/student arc. I think that's still one of my most fulfilling stories on the board.

Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania everything with Ukatis was such a joy. Thank you for letting me be a part of that. I'm glad Jasper's presence could contribute to that story.

Jand Talo Jand Talo you still have one of my favorite moments from the padawan pack, hands down. Jand bringing down the claymore on Ilum ready to kill a mfer was a moment that defined that invasion in my head.

IVI IVI and Arage Bao Arage Bao your plans with the SIA are one of the story beats we had rolling up I wish had gotten to see the light of day. Everything leading up to that was some of the most tense I had ever been reading content on the board.

I could blab for hours, but figured in the spirit of the thread I'd put stuff out there. It's been a fun ride. Cheers.

You mistake my silence for patience
Thank you for the mention and the knid words:

For me there will always be:

Thurion Heavenshield Thurion Heavenshield - Caltin's sword brother, oath brother... Connel’s "uncle" re-read interactions with him going back to the Maw's attempted Annihilation of Tython fondly more than I want to admit.

Jand Talo Jand Talo - Caltin’s last Padawan. Great character, deep and always a blast to read. The big guy is watching and smiling.(and that Bounty Hunter.... hooboy)

Wedge Draav Wedge Draav - Outspoken and an all around P..I.T.A. , at the same time I have beem doing this thing we call RP for a long time and learned a few things from him. (He makes great characters all around)

Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el - Never truly interacted as characters but love the man's progression from a drunk kid (remember that thread?) To now. (The other characters show how great a writer he is)

Iris Arani Iris Arani - Probably one of the most underrated characters. I can count several of her comments to Caltin that I REALLY had to think about how to respond to, and I LOVED that. (This is not a knock on Kahlil or Aros Noble, you have some amazing characters I admire when I read)

Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania - Connel’s 'little sister' being the boss babe she is now.(Still loved Caltin teaching Yula Electric Judgment in a bar. and the sister's rescue)

Aerarii Tithe Aerarii Tithe - I look at Jeff Goldblum and can only think of this man.

Valery Noble Valery Noble - No, she did not start the GA, but she took that ball and RAN with it. Amazing activity and dedication that can only be marveled at. Connel would have become an inactive NPC long ago if not for a conversation with her.

Are there more who deserve recognition? Of course, but I would be naming names through to next week... just because I didn't name them here doesn't mean they don't mean something.(like Jonyna Si Jonyna Si playing six characters in an invasion... crazy cool)

It was an interesting, engaging ride, with the GA. The plethora of threads was fun, even if social threads for a socially awkward Nagai were challenging; but the result was - for me - the development of a thin character concept (a Nagai without scruples) into someone I would consider a successful character.

There were many defining moments, many events and interactions that helped make GA one of my main homes on chaos, but they're numerous and I'm using a phone - so, instead, I'll list some names (and will likely forget some) that helped me define my only successful Jedi to date:

The Padawan pack, Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania , Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el , Corin Kaze Corin Kaze , Iris Arani Iris Arani , Silas Westgard Silas Westgard , Ichika Masudo Ichika Masudo - and others

Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor (who took a chance on a murder hobo padawan), Valery Noble Valery Noble for offering guidance, and some names that can't be pinged nowadays.

This isn't everyone, there were many small encounters I remember in passing, but smile when I think about them, with writers I'll remember in a few days when my brain pops and reminds me.

It was a good run, it probably ended at the right time, and it's going to be interesting to see how other factions claw at the new real estate.

At the end of the day, though, well done GA and everyone in it - the legacy will continue on.

It do be a sad day, but I’m going to tag a few peeps which made the whole ride memorable. (Sorry if I forget anyone)

Valery Noble Valery Noble - The boss (not because she’s a fangirl of Bruce Springsteen) but because of how good of a leader she was. Keeping a faction that big active and on the same page was no small feat. On a personal note, Valery helped me a lot and anyone who needed a nudge in the right direction.

Other than football, which I’m still smug about to this day.

Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble - A man who is a machine at posting along with valery. He also taught me a lot when I first joined, even taking me as a padawan for a short time. The only regret is that we couldn’t find a way to make it work.

Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el - Silas’s best buddy throughout his time in GA and forever will be. We must slay Sith together again one day my friend.

Once you are free from being Indiana Jones of course :p

Jand Talo Jand Talo - One of the paddy packs finest. As well as fierce opponent in the short lived fight club.

Rematch?

Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor - The big guy and a great character I didn’t get the chance to write with as Silas.

Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania - A character who I adored throughout my time in the GA.

Braze Braze - The Jedi brat, it was always a joy to interact with them OOC and IC. Hopefully, we can sort something else out soon.

Starlin Rand Starlin Rand - One of the coolest Jedi in the temple.

GA was my launchpad and intro into chaos and it was a very welcoming atmosphere when I joined. I enjoyed writing for the faction, and being a part of it, having met a lot of good people i consider to be friends (You know who you are) as a GA writer before expanding out into the rest of chaos.

Within the GA i found what I wanted to write, and how I wanted to go about it, i also found the confidence to just run with whatever I thought was interesting to write about be it little moments in an overarching thread or character arcs to cultivate. Drystan (My boy) wouldn't be as fun to write as he is now without that initial start with the GA.

So cheers.
