DESCRIPTION |
The formation of a fleet can often mean the difference between victory or defeat and punching through that formation can often be one of the most important actions during an engagement to overcome an enemy force. Following the destruction of Csilla and the development of a new conflict that has brewed between the Galactic Alliance and the Mandalorian Enclave, the GADF Xodlak-class was produced to provide the opening salvo meant to act as a spearhead to open the breach in which others might follow. This tactical mentality can be seen in the design of the Xodlak-class which focused on a Frigate that was capable of punching through an enemy formation resulting in an increased armaments rating and heavier weapon systems. However, this overall focus on an increased armament rating has come at the cost of other systems, as can be seen in the lack of hangar capacity. In fact, the hangar capacity of the Xodlak-class is so limited, that is only capable of deploying a singular Starfighter Squadron, often causing it to rely on Carriers or larger Capital Ships to provide additional Starfighter support. Additionally, the added focus on the Xodlak-class defensive rating has seen a drop in its overall speed and maneuverability due to the addition of heavier armor plates and defensive systems located through the Frigate. Reports from the bridge crew have noted that the Capital Ship is often ungainly and difficult to maneuver in anything other than a straight line. It should not be overlooked, however, that the Xodlak-class is a boon to any Fleet, and that the Chiss that often crew these vessels are more than willing to put the Frigate to the test. Its heavier defenses ensure that once it has punched a hole in an enemy formation, it can withstand the increased fire and continue to engage the enemy. Even with a lack of Starfighter Capacity, its other strengths complement the heavier warships that have begun to be deployed by the Chiss, and the newfound allies of the Galactic Alliance in the Hapes Consortium. |
