STRENGTHS

Gravity Well Projectors - A specialized apparatus used to create Interdictor Fields that simulate the natural gravity shadows of Astronomical and Stellar Bodies such as Planets and Stars. They are utilized by the GADF Nuruodo-class to halt a ship's travel through Hyperspace or to prevent a vessel from fleeing into Hyperspace.

Increased Hangar Capacity - To ensure that the Nuruodo-class was capable of fulfilling its role as a Patrol Cruiser, the design of the vessel includes an expanded hangar bay. This allows the Capital Ship to carry a full wing of Starfighters as well as up to two squadrons or Support Craft that are often utilized to assist in disabling and boarding other vessels.

Agile - The overall design of the vessel was focused on Speed and Maneuverability which produced a Cruiser that is capable of reaching impressive momentum at both Sublight and Light speeds as well as being nimbler than similarly-sized Cruisers.

WEAKNESSES

Minimal Armaments - Much of the standard armaments that would have otherwise been equipped to the Nuruodo-class were removed to ensure ample room for both an increased capacity of the vessel's hangar bay as well as ensure the needed room to install its four Gravity Well Projectors.

Minimal Defenses - The design of the vessel was focused on providing an Interdictor Cruiser that was capable of intercepting or running down vessels trapped in the mass shadows produced by its Gravity Well Projectors. In order to accomplish this, much of the heavier armor plating and additional defensive systems were removed, resulting in a lower defensive rating than similarly-sized Cruisers.

Gravity Well Projectors - Each of these specialized apparatuses is incapable of differentiating between friend or foe when operating and producing their mass shadows, and are just as likely to halt a friendly vessel's travel through Hyperspace or to prevent it from entering Hyperspace as it is likely to effect an enemy ship.

DESCRIPTION

At times ambushing and disabling an enemy formation is just as important as decimating their forces during a conflict, and being able to prevent the rapid movement of an enemy force can at times mean the difference between victory or defeat. Focusing on preventing an enemy from striking deeper into the heart of Chiss Space in an act of defiance against a Defense-Only Doctrine has resulted in the creation of the GADF Nuruodo-class Interdictor Cruiser. A successor and improvement of the older Chiss Assault Cruiser, the Nuruodo-class shares a design aesthetic similar to the Capital Ships of the Galactic Empire, specifically the Immobilizer 418 Cruiser. The GADF Nuruodo-class was designed to provide a means to prevent the rapid transition of enemy forces along established Hyperspace Lanes as well as curb hit-and-run tactics often employed by opportunist groups such as Pirates and Raiders that seek to fill the vacuum left behind by the defeat of the Brotherhood of the Maw. The Nuruodo-class was designed to carry four gravity well projectors, a special apparatus that can simulate the mass shadows naturally produced by Stellar Bodies such as Planets and Suns. These simulated mass shadows halt a ship's travel through hyperspace by abruptly ripping them back into real space, whilst also preventing vessels in real space from entering Hyperspace. However, it should be noted that these systems do not operate on a friend-or-foe system, meaning they are incapable of differentiating between vessels, and are just as likely to affect a friendly ship as they are an enemy. Additionally, these systems can be overcome by the much rarer HIMS systems, which produce a bubble of Hyperspace around a vessel and allow it to continue traveling through a mass shadow. Further design aspects of the Nuruodo-class include an increased hangar capacity, allowing the vessel to deploy a full wing of Starfighters as well as up to two squadrons of Support Craft to assist in disabling and boarding vessels. The primary drawbacks of the Capital Ship can be seen in those systems that were sacrificed in favor of expanding the hangar and equipping the vessel with its gravity well projectors. The addition of these systems necessitated the removal of many of its weapon systems resulting in a smaller armament than is present on similarly-sized Cruisers. Likewise, focusing on increasing its speed and maneuverability has resulted in much of the heavier armor plating being removed alongside the removal of other defensive systems. Common practice has thus included the deployment of escort ships to support the Nuruoodo-class during its missions. Overall, the Nuruodo-class provides the Galactic Alliance with yet another versatile Capital Ship to support its vast armada in the coming conflicts.
