STRENGTHS
  • Prow Magnetic Railguns - A rare and exotic piece of artillery that is no longer commonly utilized in the Galaxy. Each GADF Coronal is outfitted with four of these weapons which are known to fire a solid slug projectile via electromagnetic force.
  • Light Destroyer - Designed to stand as a Ship-of-the-Line and supplement larger Star Destroyers, the GADF Coronal focused predominately on heavier armaments and defenses though is still lacking when compared to a standard Star Destroyer.
  • Average Dexterity - The GADF Coronal is not known for its speed and maneuverability, though these ratings are often higher than similarly sized Capital Ships with the Light Destroyer designation.
WEAKNESSES
  • Starfighter Support - With its focus on armaments and defensive capabilities in lieu of Hangar Capacity, the GADF Coronal is limited in its capacity to carry Starfighter or Support Squadrons. This often requires that the Capital Ship rely on a Carrier or Escort Craft to provide adequate Starfighter Support.
  • Railgun Capacitors - While Hapan capacitors have been known to have progressed and shown improvement over their predecessors, those capacitors that are utilized in the main weapon systems of the GADF Coronal still require additional time to charge before they can be fired. This results in a slower firing rate and prevents heavy reliance on and use of the Railguns.
  • Forward Firing Arcs - The GADF Coronal was designed to bring as much firepower down upon an enemy as possible. This has focused the majority of its weapons in the forward-firing arc, making strikes from the aft and ventral sections easier due to the light coverage of armaments in those sections.
DESCRIPTION
The GADF Coronal-class is a line of Capital Ships that can be considered a go-between as they are larger than a Heavy Cruiser though smaller than the average Star Destroyer and represent a new line of warships that have seen a larger resurgence in recent history, the Light Destroyer. The GADF Coronal was designed to act as a support ship deployed alongside Fleet Carriers, Light Carriers, or Star Destroyers to provide additional firepower, resulting in the Capital Ship being equipped with Magnetic Railguns. A rare and exotic piece of artillery, its primary weapons were not often commonly utilized in the Galaxy and were known to fire solid slug projectiles via electromagnetic force. However, the capacitors used were known to require additional time to properly cycle and recharge before they could fire again, resulting in a slow rate of fire which prevents a heavy reliance upon this particular weapon system.

Due to the design of the GADF Coronal-class being more heavily focused on an increased armament and heavier defensive capabilities, it lacks hangar capacity as additional room was required for the various weapon and defense systems. This often requires that the Capital Ship relies upon Carriers or vessels with a larger hangar capacity to provide any needed Starfighter escorts to screen against opposing Starfighter or Bomber Squadrons. As the GADF Coronal focuses on heavier armaments, many of its weapon systems are focused on their primary forward-firing arc which unfortunately leaves the aft and ventral sections easier to target due to light weapon coverage. This design flaw results in a further need to rely upon additional support from other vessels to protect these more vulnerable areas.

Where the GADF Coronal-class is likely to shine is their utilization and deployment in larger numbers, either in focused "wolf-packs" or alongside larger warships acting as additional fire support. This Capital Ship represents a renewed focus on the Light Destroyer classification and provides a much-needed ship-of-the-line to provide further support to large fleet formations.
