Strengths
  • AR-0B Damage Reduction Armor Component - This system has become a staple of vessels produced by Von Sorenn Industries - with a constant ablative current coursing through the hull, the system assists in mitigating damage via the removal of harmful substances and debris from the hull of the vessel. This ensures the longevity of the hull, allowing the vessel to be operational for longer periods of time prior to repairs or refitting as needed.
  • GalaxyGuard Mark VII - A system that is often spotted on many vessels manufactured by Von Sorenn Industries - this feature provides greater endurance and operational range of a vessel's Deflector Shield, with multiple such systems extending this benefit. Though the Gaav II is equipped with this system, it should be noted that it is not as powerful as its larger capital ship counterparts.
  • R-PB6 Repair System - A unique starfighter system that is capable of launching specialized short-range probe droids. These droids are capable of repairing the hulls of nearby vessels including the vessel that originally launched them.
  • Cofferdam - Often known as a boarding tube or docking tube - the vessel is fitted with two such systems - one located at the front and one located on the ventral section. These tubes are utilized to assist in locking the shuttle in place - with the assistance of its tractor beams and magnetic clamps - and once the hull of an enemy vessel has been cut into; it delivers its payload of Hellknights into the breech.
  • Plasma Torch Hull-Cutter - The primary tool utilized by the Shuttle to deliver its payload of Hellknights into an enemy vessel. Situated at multiple points on the vessel - with two located in the front and one on the ventral section - these tools are utilized to cut into a vessel's hull after the Shuttle has deployed its Cofferdam.
  • WhisperThrust Engine - This system utilizes sensor baffling materials, supercooled gases, and special engine components to scatter escaping gases and heat from the vessel. The engine is designed to ensure that a vessel - no larger than a freighter - would remain virtually undetectable by sensors and scanners while remaining at a cruising speed.

Weaknesses
  • Slow - This vessel is by no means a TIE/In or A-Wing and is easily overtaken by faster-moving starfighters and interceptors. Much like the Gidim II Bomber, the Gaav II Shuttle often requires support or escort in the form of a Starfighters or Anti-Starfighter Corvettes to accomplish its mission.
  • Limited Weapon Coverage - Many of the vessel's weaponry is set on 90-degree firing arcs, meaning that it is otherwise incapable of bringing all of its weapons to bear on a single point. Even then, the majority of its weaponry is focused in a forward-firing position, further reducing its weapon coverage and leaving it highly vulnerable from attacks to the aft and ventral sections of the vessel.
  • SLAM Passout - Suffering from a similar side-effect of the SubLight Accelerator Motor as experienced in the Gidim II-class Bomber; the Gaav II-class Shuttle has experienced the unintended effect that many of its crew and at times passengers, have been known to pass out due to utilizing the system. This can render the vessel defenseless - in the case of its gunners being incapacitated - or rendering it in effect a flying battering ram if its pilots were incapacitated. There's even the chance that it could potentially render its passenger contingent unconscious, effectively making them useless and potentially sitting ducks to onboard defenses or security teams.
  • WhisperThrust Engine - A system of sensor baffling material that utilizes supercooled gases and special engine components to scatter escaping gases and heat from the vessel in a bid to leave behind as little of a sensor wake as possible - allowing a vessel no larger than a freighter to be rendered virtually undetectable at cruising speeds; however, it should be noted that the system itself does not render the vessel invisible to the naked eye. Likewise, sudden movements or bursts of speed immediately render the vessel immediately detectable to all sensors.
  • Boarding Vulnerability - Once the shuttle has become linked to the vessel it is preparing to board, it is virtually incapable of defending itself - as much of the energy to operate its weapons is redirected towards the Hull-cutters. This also seemingly drains the vessel's shields, leaving it in further peril with no means to protect itself from incoming fire.
  • Tractor Beam Drag - Often experienced when the intended target has not been disabled, the shuttle is capable of being dragged if it has locked its tractor beams onto a larger vessel than the shuttle itself. This can cause strain on the vessel - both its systems and hull - potentially disabling it, rending it apart, or leaving it dead in the water and an ample target for practice.

Description
Where as its predecessor served as a simple unarmed shuttle to ferry Hellknights between vessels and land on planets or in controlled zones, the Gaav II-class is designed with a more direct role in boarding enemy vessels - though still capable of also ferrying forces between vessels and landing them planetside. Taking cues from the Katarn-class Boarding Shuttle and even the Imperial Navy's TIE/br Boarding Shuttle - the Gaav II-class is fully designed to latch and lock onto the hull of an enemy vessels, accomplishing this with its series of Magnetic Clamps and Tractor Beam Projectors to keep the shuttle in place once it has reached its target. Once attached to a vessel in question, the Shuttle extends a Cofferdam - also known as a Boarding Tube or Docking Tube - which provides a sealed environment between the two vessels; with the hull-cutter being deployed once the tube has been fully sealed. After cutting into the enemy vessel, the passengers on the Shuttle are capable of disembarking on their boarding action. While the predecessor craft was unarmed, the Gaav II maintains an impressive array of weaponry - though many of it is locked in a 90-degree angle, or forward firing arch, leaving the vessel's aft and ventral sections greatly exposed and unprotected beyond its defensive measures. The addition of this weapon systems - and a number of its additional defensive systems - has greatly reduced the passenger capacity, with the Gaav II only capable of carrying (20) individuals, where as its predecessor was capable of carrying up to (60) individuals at a time.

Many of the features that the vessel is equipped with are shared in the Gidim II-class Bomber - and have become staple systems and features seen in other vessels manufactured by Von Sorenn Industries. An example of this are the AR-0B Damage Reduction Armor Component, which assists in prolonging the vessel's hull life and integrity, as well as the GalaxyGuard Mark VII, a system which provides additional endurance and range to the Deflector Shield Generator. As a means to further shield it from harm - beyond the ample defensive capabilities - the vessel utilizes a WhisperThrust Engine, a system that scatters gases and heat - provided that the vessel remain at a cruising speed - to render it virtually undetectable to a vessel's scanners or sensors. However, sudden bursts of activity - such as activating its SLAM system - would render it immediately visible on scanners and sensors; nor does the system render the vessel invisible to the naked eye - making it an easy target for starfighter pilots or anyone that looks out a nearby viewport.

More often than not, they are still deployed in a similar manner to their predecessors - often preferring that an enemy vessel has been rendered disabled or motionless to allow for an easier boarding action. However, they are more than capable of withstanding a beating if it means delivering their cargo to an active vessels - though the downside of this is that once it has attached itself to a vessel, it is highly vulnerable. Much of the power is often drained to the hull-cutter and clamps to maintain its seal on the vessel, rending its weapons inoperable and its defenses compromised - likewise, if the shuttle were to attach its tractor beams to a larger vessel that is still moving, it could potentially be dragged, causing additional damage or rending the shuttle apart.
