OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Treatech
  • Affiliation: Treatech Holdings
  • Market Status: Open-Market
  • Model: FTE-91 "Foxbat" Fusial Thrust Engine
  • Modularity: No
    • Able to be outfitted on any ship size
  • Production :Mass-Produced
  • Material:
    • Durasteel
    • Standard Engine components
    • Hadrium
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Jump-Start
    • Foxbat engines are able "freeze" their fusion reactions instead of killing them, allowing them to accelerate from a stop or from low speeds very quickly
  • Ion Resistant
    • The installed Ion Neutralizer helps protect these engines from incoming ion energy and attacks
  • Thrust Vectoring
    • The ability to direct thrust output is not only crucial for the quick acceleration that the FTE-91 was built for, but also adds extra maneuverability to ships that use these engines
STRENGTHS
  • Rapid Acceleration
    • Foxbat engines accelerate extremely quickly compared to other engines
  • Ion Resistant
    • Most pilots fear the crippling effect ion weapons have on their ship's propulsion systems. The NT-I 4 Ion Neutralizer helps protect the engines from this threat.
WEAKNESSES
  • Fuel Guzzler
    • The FTE-91 consumes more fuel compared to similarly sized engines, making them more expensive to maintain
  • 3.6 Roentgen
    • These reaction used in the Foxbat produces radiation in the engine. Typically this is not a problem, but when these systems are damaged, radiation can leak out. This makes repairing FTE-91s dangerous for the engineer. Due to this, Treatech recommends repairs be made at a spacedock or spaceport, where proper safety measures can be put in place, as opposed to in space or in the heat of combat
DESCRIPTION

The counterpart to Treatech's IFD-2 engine line, the FTE-91 provides top of the line acceleration for ships of all sizes. Using specialized technology to contain and control fusion reactions and thrust output, FTE-91s are always ready to jump to their max speed, provided one can front the cost of fuel for the hungry engine system. Trademark Treatech technology helps negate one of the biggest threats to all spacefarers, ion energy. Praised by pilots of all ship types, from heavy mining ships to nimble starfighters, the FTE-91 provides the kick that most engine systems lack.
