Description: The Forge-class Interceptor is a craft meant to both evoke the Sith triumphs of ancient times and to provide a different take on the role of an interceptor. Traditional interceptors sacrificed armament for speed and maneuverability, but the Forge goes for a different min-maxing strategy - maneuverability and firepower over speed. The Forge is fast enough to outrun most bombers, but is nowhere near as fast as most interceptors - roughly comparable to standard Space Superiority fighters. Given that interceptors are meant to defeat bombers, this is hardly a setback, though it means that it will take them longer to close with bomber wings compared to other interceptors.

The Forge's armor layout is simplistic - like most Emeritus ships, the Forge's major frame components are cast duranium segments, which are plated with duraplast - a far weaker material than the adamithium-durasteel composite usually used for hull plates. A focus was made on fitting the Forge with a pair of heavy laser cannons - and while this ensures the pilot of a Forge will never run out of ways to inflict damage on enemies, the lack of warhead launchers significantly impacts the Forge's ability to engage targets from a relatively large distance away, forcing them to close within range of any enemy ship turrets to accurately direct fire on targets.

It is expected that the Forge will prove particularly effective against enemy strike and medium bombers, given that they are capable of outmaneuvering quicker bombers more easily than most interceptors. Their advantages over heavy bombers are minimal in comparison to conventional interceptors - they are meant to engage quicker targets that can inflict serious damage to Sith warships.

Maneuverability Rating: Extreme
We're one rating too high right now. We can either lower the Maneuverability Rating to "Very High", or we can drop a rating somewhere else.

Would modifying the submission to minor satisfy the requirements? I ask because the comparable Vornskr-class Interceptor has more 'points' in its stats, while being classified as a minor production ship. (3/8 armament, 3/8 defenses, 7/8 maneuverability, and 6/8 speed compared to the Forge's 3/8 armament, 2/8 defenses, 8/8 maneuverability, and 4/8 speed - 19 vs 17)

Okay... edited. Quick question, though - if all minor fighters are supposed to have the same number of points allotted to them, why does the Vornskr have two more 'points' worth of stats than the Forge will?

[member="Vanessa Vantai"], I do not comment on previous submissions, but especially not when people try and make direct comparisons. And this is even more true when it was using a different template made during a different time (Starship v4.0 versus Starship 5.0).

The general rule for Starship 5.0 is that every starship starts out with its ratings all at "average". From there on out, every rating increase must be compensated for by a commensurate drop in rating, production, or addition of weakness. That is the sole thing I used to judge this fighter.
