Private Fleeting Tournament Round One - Jyoti versus Cruanless Orcash

Opponents: Kiff Brayde Kiff Brayde (attacker) vs. Cruanless Orcash Cruanless Orcash (defender)
Fleet size: 9 km
Map: here
Scenario: Ambush
Scenario Description: An attacking fleet led by Kiff Brayde has stumbled upon the unprepared ships of Cruanless Orchas's fleet while they are at anchor at a pair of supply space stations where they are taking on supplies and replacement crewmembers. The defenders most scramble to make themselves battleworthy, while the attackers must destroy or capture this anchorage in order to obtain superiority over local space.

OOC Notes: The two SpacePlex Space Stations that will serve as Cruanless Orcash's supply stations are entirely unarmed, but they are well-shielded and surrounded on all sides by minefields of several hundred Type A mines. There is a single XQ-3 Space Station nearby that is mothballed and powered down, but capable of being taken and used by either side. There is also a wreck of an old Imperial Star Destroyer nearby - it might provide some cover for ships, and a few of its weapon systems might be operable with an enterprising efforts. The dark, jaded looking shapes in the middle of the battlefield map is an asteroid field (I'll edit that in the map later).

Location: Supply Depot, System Name: CLASSIFIED
Objective: Ready to Battle Stations, Analyze threats, and assume defense formation

Assets:

After months of patrol duty and more recently being exhausted from an operation in the Saleucami System, Captain Orcash had taken his ship along with some others from the previous operation to a Supply Depot in the far outer rim. To replenish and recoup.

When they reached the system, they docked at the two SpacePlex Space Stations. They were old and clearly in need of upgrades. Orcash noticed they had no defense turrets or turbolasers. Just a strong shielding array, which at least was something.

He himself stayed on board the Reverence along with Lieutenant Pappus. They sent the Chief Petty Officer, a Togrutan male named Jorus Quillik, to take the reigns and coordinate the replenishing of supplies & the replacement of crewmembers. Quillik met with the Station's commanding officer, Sergeant Major Prello Grau, an Abednedo, to get all of the orders and tasks sorted out.

As all of the other Alliance ships he was with docked around the two stations as well, Cruanless walked back from the main holo table in the command center on the bridge and back towards his command chair located at the front of the bridge. The view was facing towards the asteroid field and the emptiness of space. He had spotted the Abandoned XQ-3 Space Station on their way in and had dispatched two shuttles to investigate and possibly reboot the station. Hopefully there was something they could use in there. He had also seen the wreck of the old Imperial Star Destroyer as well. Scans had picked up no power signs whatsoever, but still parts of it looked semi-intact. He could salvage it for its armament and shielding cores if only he had a full salvage crew. The one he had was depleted and had been sent with the two shuttles to the Abandoned XQ-3 Station. Perhaps he would send them to recon the ship if there was time, but he would probably forget about it. Besides, Orcash wanted to leave as soon as they got their supplies and replacements, which were fresh recruits who had been only assigned to this post 4 months ago.

- 3 hours later -

Cruanless sat slumped in his command chair, continuously staring out into the depths of space. He was thinking about Mon Cala/Dac. His homeworld. Since the Battle of Mon Cala against The Sith Empire, he had been missing the world greatly. Then when Grand Admiral Gial Goldarr reestablished the planet and began repairing the destruction that the Sith had sowed, Orcash heard word of it and immediately traveled with a refugee fleet to support Goldarr's new Commonwealth. However, his duties as a GA naval officer were strenuous and required he leave Dac on multiple occasions, most times came within a few days of him arriving back home anyway. Then the bad news. The Bryn were pressing to the that sector and Goldarr ordered Commonwealth pull out and fall back to safe system. Not for Orcash. He had now planned to go to Dac and reclaim his homeworld. Or, die trying. Only his senior officers knew of this plan and Cruanless felt a bit bad for the rest of his crew, but he had no choice. He would not lose Dac to authoritarian regimes. Not again.

He flashed back to reality when he saw Lieutenant Pappus approach him at his side. He stood up in his seat a bit, but didn't remove his sorrow expressions. He did try to a tiny bit for Pappus, but not much came out of that.

"Sir, the last of replacements are being loaded onboard and we have stocked the ships full of supplies".

"Good, I don't want us here any longer than we have to be".

"Aye sir, we will soon be off". Pappus paused and could see his fellow brethren in a sour mood.

"Cruanless", This got Orcash to turn his head towards Pappus and acknowledge him. The Lieutenant now continued.

"Are we still a go for the Dac mission".

"Aye, no point delaying it any further".

"Yes Captain, however some of the senior officers have voiced their concerns about the choice of mission".

"Lemme guess, they think I am a dumb fool for that decision".

"Huh, sounds about right sir".

"Well, they have never had their heart and soul ripped apart or watched their kin die by the thousands". Orcash's anger and rage started to slowly boil inside him. "There is no choice Srcyr, not for me".

Pappus paused for a moment before straightening his back and standing with posture, "Neither for me too, sir".

Cruanless looked up at the man and gave him a half smile as they both turned back and gazed into the black of space.

ALARM!!!!!!!

The Captain shot up in his seat, immediately spinning it to face behind his previous position. Pappus ran back to his console and was checking all codes, signals, alerts, etc...

"What is it?", asked Orcash.

One of the comm officers responded from across the bridge,
"Not sure sir, might be a malfunction". Meanwhile, Cruanless had gotten up and peered at the radar scanner on Lieutenant Jagrall's console. On it, he could see a clear scope, until......

There was a large object or objects emerging from hyperspace opposite the asteroid field.

He now spoke somewhat softly so that only Pappus and few others could hear him,
"That is no malfunction". He finished as his worry grew when the radar dot increased in size.

Cruanless now whipped his head back up and towards the main bridge viewport. He stared far towards the asteroid field, wondering and fearing what now lurked behind.
