Fleet Logistics Entry Encounter Test System [FLEETS]

So after watching and looking about things towards Fleet Combat or even just the idea of raiding, a lot of it looks to make it primarily Skybox animation-flashy, noisey, but not overall very engaging nor is it vital it seems in conquest. When in a battle between armies and fleet the end result of an entire planet is a single duel (or several, maybe up to five) I have decided to be looking into a way to overhaul and set up a possible Fleet system. Once we have play tested and figured out a general basis for the combat and ship management to incorporate the dozens of ship models available, I'd like to expand it into ground armies and then with them both to put it forward as an extension of the invasion system. Currently I am working on a morale system that would work on the fleets themselves and the logistics of speed and formation. Weapons to say the least and defenses will be entertaining. Comment below if you have any ideas that might apply!

It came up with the discussion about the Fringe attacking OP, and I figured HK-36 would be a good starting person to chatter about it. I'm wanting to work with the outlines first before putting up the nitty gritty (I'll keep the Warmongers in mind) But as far as Sargon told me at best this will be a Opt-in system as I'm informed Tefka isn't a fan of stat systems for faction v faction. That said, the intention was to poke the OS and Mandalorians once we had the details to figure out what else could possibly be achieved. Also someone named "Peter" on the admin team might be interested.

As the person who was present for the fleet battles over Eriadu and Naboo which resulted in our victories, I have to respectfully disagree with your assessment of the impact of fleeting on an invasion. At Eriadu, it was discussed between myself and the Fringe leaders then that, were it not for our overwhelming victory in space, the planet would have fallen to the Fringe covert assault. The ground battle at Naboo was close and slowly tipping in favor of the Confederacy when we achieved enough of a lead in space to declare a victory.

Space / Air superiority are exceptionally important. If the invader cannot establish a beachhead without being constantly bombarded, then their offensive will stall and be crushed. The problem is that few people opt in for the fleeting experience. As such, it is regularly relegated to background noise in most invasions. It's also why, in every invasion that I was a part of as Lord Protector, I made sure to include fleeting as part of the necessary objectives to succeed or fail an invasion.

I'm glad to see the effort is made and the rp played out! The impression had been otherwise, and if you had a link to that I'd like to read it to see what fleeting currently looks like. with that in mind though, is there ways to make Fleeting look more attractive? I'd certainly like to stay as a mainstay tool as the ships are as much fun as the melee and short-ranged firefights.

That's [member="Valiens Nantaris"]. He's been trying for a long time to make Invasions...be more like actual wars and less like a series of one-on-one duels. :p He founded the Warmongers group to this end.

Fleeting has played a role in a number of invasions, especially at Eriadu (OP vs. Fringe) and Druckenwell (OP vs. CISI). Armies, by contrast, always seem to be background noise in the duels between space wizards!

[member='Siobhan Kerrigan'] Ah! Much obliged on the further info. As to that I did hope to incorporate armies in once we figured the ships. and once we did armies, to put both forward as aspects for Invasion. This allows for duels to be critical, but not the end-all of invasions was the idea, with plenty of development in the ground and space fights. Also we should arpeez sometime!

Eriadu

Naboo

As far as mainstay, it's just a matter of getting more people involved. People like to imagine it as this big, scary thing that they'd have to go through pages of outside material to learn when it's really not.

All fleeting is is a duel with giant metal weapons instead of a blaster or lightsaber. Respect the other person, they respect you, and just give and take. Do that and everything else will fall into place.

 But aren't duels all demi-god despite only being people 3-6 feet tall and viable to concentrated blaster fire? In all seriousness hallu! Right now thanks to a friend of mine being hung over this morning wasn't able to sleep properly, but when I got a general concept done I'll toss you the outline and see what you think if you want
