So after watching and looking about things towards Fleet Combat or even just the idea of raiding, a lot of it looks to make it primarily Skybox animation-flashy, noisey, but not overall very engaging nor is it vital it seems in conquest. When in a battle between armies and fleet the end result of an entire planet is a single duel (or several, maybe up to five) I have decided to be looking into a way to overhaul and set up a possible Fleet system. Once we have play tested and figured out a general basis for the combat and ship management to incorporate the dozens of ship models available, I'd like to expand it into ground armies and then with them both to put it forward as an extension of the invasion system. Currently I am working on a morale system that would work on the fleets themselves and the logistics of speed and formation. Weapons to say the least and defenses will be entertaining.
