HYPERLANE CHARACTERISTICS
  • Speed: Low
  • Accessibility:
Known quite well by those in the Outer Rim, the Five Veils is both trade route and tourist trap depending on the end locations. Svivren being the trade end of the route while Skynara the tour end of the route. Bickering between different companies long since passed settled the two endpoints and through the wheel of time both have become logistical endpoints.

The Svivren end point is largely avoided by pirates for the security the host planet maintains about its port, though access to the lane is largely free with properly authorized documentation. Mostly accessed by legitimate traders and merchants, the end of this section of the lane is trouble free and even boasts a healthy dedicated security force.

The Skynara section of the lane is far easier to access and less than stellar documentation passes through with a few credits exchanged to add weight to their credence. Largely a tourist pit, the Skynara section of the lane is readily sought out by pirates and other beings with less than polite interests.

The beginning of the Lane on Farstine is the major trade hub that connects to another hyperlane, thus making travel to the Outer Rim territories via the Five Veils profitable. Loose and fast, the planet turns a blind eye to the trade of Spice and other illicit goods so long as the proper hands are greased.

The route itself is properly labeled on most starmaps, however the caveat previously being the hazard of pirate attacks that are presented along the route due to the illicit trade of Spice. Looking for an easy score of spices or even worse, slaves, the route was formerly a large hazard to those with more legal intentions in mind.

The Confederacy by and large put an end to these dangers and practices with their occupation. However, the dissolution of this governing body however, and the fallout of the safety net around the route it returned to its former ways.
  • Route Hazards:
The largest dangers of the route are Pirates and Raiders. Though a hurried jump through the lane might also land one directly slamming into the asteroid field around Vergesso. Another present danger at times during unregulated passage, collisions are another possible hazard should any entities attempting to avoid customs make an unscheduled pass at the lane.

Mynocks infest old derelicts and Asteroids through the pass though they avoid the Vergesso section with good reason.

An Exogorth has even been sighted along the way.

The occasional Neebray can also be sighted crossing the lane during migrations or in search of food.

Scree are the worst offenders along the route, a notation in the map to avoid stops in the Vergesso Asteroids at all costs. With the nearly guaranteed destruction of the ship and loss of life added in the notes. The space faring insectoids are a danger to even the most defensible vessels and swarm in large numbers to assault their prey.
  • Rest Stops:
With the route becoming available to the larger galaxy, and the common antics of Piracy and Raiders coming back to the fold, a chance at potential gain was seen.

Using underworld connections to acquire easily modified space stations, rest stops where placed along the route to aid those passing through or attempting to gain access to the route. Large and hard to miss, the stations are beacons in a path riddled with dangers.

Updates along the route are closely monitored and routinely changed to make passage easier as well as give those passing through a safe haven in case of the worst. A modest fee covers the chance dock, repair, re-arm, or rest, on the safety of the designated stations along the route.

Beacons are routinely checked, Asteroids and other anomalies dealt with for ease of travel. Even the threats of the space faring creatures are routinely dealt with for ease of access to those wishing to pass through the lane.

A total of six space stations dot the passage between planets, monitoring travel between the points and even providing havens for those travelling between the planets or cruising through as tourists. Every station is capable of berthing smaller craft up to corvettes, and capable of providing docking tubes for larger vessels.

With dedicated repair and refueling droids on each station, the need to make sketchy jumps on anything more than Spacer's Tape and a prayer are a thing of the past. Alongside this, interior compartments have been dedicated to housing inhabitants and travelers though nowhere near to its full capacity. A number of fast food services are available, alongside intergalactic transpondance centers, laundering units, and hygiene facilities included with lodging or through separate transactions.

Limited medical facilities, enough to stabilize and or bring a being to a condition for travel to dedicated medical facilities, exist aboard each of the stations as well. Provided these services come with extra charges to receive the care offered.

A number of vessel's from the PGEM catalog can be seen patrolling the route as security. Nothing large enough to threaten military patrols, but enough to dissuade singular pirate vessels hoping for an easy score. These vessels pass between the stations at regular intervals, and avoid stopping or nearing established planets if able.
DESCRIPTION
With the absence of a larger government to control the route, Niki Priddy siezed the opportunity granted the lack of overarching control to establish a potential gain from a trade route plagued by piracy and raiders. Using underworld connections, she purchased stations to affix in locations that left those traveling the route exposed to ambush by less than friendly beings and other natural dangers.

Working out a deal with the planets along the path, she established a foothold for each station. Most within reason as a stop to limit the amount of profit loss to each planet on the route. Without giving up her own gains in both monetary and reputation value. Seen as a boon for securing the route further than any planets associated had done, those traveling the Five Veils enjoy security and safety, even with hauling less than legal cargo.

Seeing the benefit of securing the route for anyone wishing to avoid conflict, the route is not limited to legal goods. So long as peace is maintained along the route and in the stations, no outside authorities are legally allowed to intervene as the stations have been negotiated to be neutral grounds for all passing through them.

The stations are owned and operate at the behest of Niki Priddy.
