First Steps into a larger world

The nice thing was that Master Starchaser thought it was a good idea for her to follow the path she was taking. It would put her, as he said, in a great spot for a Sentinel. Having gained a bit of trust and candor from the Jedi Master, Sav was getting his real thoughts on things. What he felt that was needed was someone who could blend in, be a Shadow.

A honeypot? She had asked. And her response was merely a shrug from the other Jedi. She didn’t think -he was wrong, though, not on a fundamental level.

And from her own research, it seemed that Felucia would serve both their goals. The shamans here had their own way of crafting, their own way of doing things. They were able to disappear from sight, but they also worked to do a lot of protection use of the Force. Maybe it was the ideal place for her to start? She was hoping so. The Jal Shey had always traveled to find new worlds, and maybe she could hit two birds with one stone, so to speak. She was going to look to see if they had been here, she knew they had to be. Maybe she could find it.

Still, for now she was just going to explore, and see what she found. The girl had parked her ship and left her BB unit, Purple there. The heat was pretty oppressive for her right off, and she opted to just make the trek in a tanktop and pair of cargo pants. She was going to move quick, having only a training blade now, and a staff, the latter of which she was working with to imbue with the Force.

Maybe it would help her?

The thing about this world that she noticed right away was that it was so… alive. She smiled and took a deep breath. Reaching out with the Force she could feel so much life, but the reason she landed here? She saw a few structures and what might be a camp. It could be old Silver Jedi but she was thinking it was more. Happenstance and deus ex machina? Maybe, but it could also really be the Force. She was hoping that she knew what she was doing. Reaching out to the Force, to scan the area, to feel it so alive, crawling around her.

The blonde smiled as she kept moving. The warm air was nice, but what she was doing was making sure she could find a place to settle and focus. Her ship was there but so many distractions. All the texts she had to answer, and voice calls. Plus Purple always wanting to play. That was not bad but it never helped her study either. And she needed to concentrate. But first, she had to get to wherever she was looking at.
It meant a lot of climbing, but Sav did have a few workout machines on her ship for a reason. The climb here was going to be the fun part, for sure. She worked her way up one large plant and gave a low whistle as she looked around the area.

“Nice place. Camp’s over there.” She muttered to herself, but that was when she felt something tug in the Force.

She kept an eye on where her ship was but kept moving. The blonde hopped off the large plant and hit the mud slope, sliding down. At the bottom, she got up and dusted herself off. Sliding the staff from across her back, she put it in her hand. Something was moving. Reaching out with the Force, she pushed the energy she was spooling, it was how she visualized it, around the staff. A small bit of what was being called ‘Force Weapon’ was going to the staff.

It was her first steps to working with imbuing weapons and making herself some new tool out of something else. Well, the first time out of the Temple. The Sentinel Temple of the New Jedi Order on Sullust was quickly becoming her new home. Starchaser said that it might happen but he wasn’t going to say it wasn’t going to happen either. He knew that the Jedi padawans, unless they were super nomadic, sometimes stayed at the Temple as a base of operations. He had his own star destroyer that was out in the Unknown Regions at the moment. But who knew? Savannah was hearing that maybe there was a group who were looking to do more than the Alliance could.

That could put her on a nice nomadic trip, and maybe do a bit of what tales she heard about Coren, a smuggler and Rebel.

She wanted to be a Rebel, it was why she joined up. And then she was a Jedi? Totes awesome, really.

“I can feel you there…” She said, another step forward, she had tightened her grip on her enhanced staff, her right hand on it, palm down, with the staff up under her arm.

“We can feel you too. That is why we are speaking, and not fighting.” The beings had said, in their group and patterned speech. The blonde Thyferran kept looking around. This was going to be getting dizzying real fast. She stopped spinning, and worked to center herself, her staff was touching the dirt at this point. She wasn’t feeling any need to worry, but she did feel a need to speak.

“I am here because I need your help. As I said, I want to meet your Shamans, but I also am looking for anything that may have been… left behind? The Jal Shey perhaps?” She wasn’t sure that was going to get the response she needed. “Wanderers who would enchant clothes?” She bite her lip. Hopefully.

She really needed a caf.

“We know what you speak of. But only Shamans are allowed there. You may follow us and we will introduce you to our shaman. From there, you may be taken to the site you are looking for.”

Not as hard as she thought

She was told that after dinner they may have gone. But it was getting late, and she wasn’t sure what was going on. The Shaman and his assistants had spoken to Savannah at great length, discussing the feeling and thoughts of the Force. Of how it can be directed and almost charged, and spooled… piled into an item, was how the Shaman had said it. Filling staffs and shields with protective energy, increasing their material strength.

This was similar to what Starchaser said regarding the Force barriers.

That was a good sign, she supposed, if someone who was recognized as a Jedi Master was speaking in the same tones as someone who was considered a hedgewitch. She smiled as they continued their conversations, discussing more and more on these topics, but what she really wanted to uncover was how the Felucians were able to disappear from sight.

Coren hadn’t been able to pull this feat off, and he was the one who could fold space around himself. She was hoping she could learn that skill from these beings. She was speaking to Starchaser, after all, about how she wanted to be a Shadow. And he was agreeing. But based on how the Felucian was speaking to her, they were not traveling tonight. It would wait until morning.

They didn’t have toilets. Why did it have to wait?

Waking with the sun was not something that Sav wanted to do again. Ever. She shook her head and stretched, craning her neck around until the vertebrae popped. Arching her back under her blanket she was stretching and let out a soft sigh. Why so early… She shook her head. Shaman, right? Still, it only took her a few minutes to grab her things and make her way over to the stream. She leaned in and cupped up some water, washing her face and neck. The Felucians had approached her and she smiled.

“Ready?” She asked. She wasn’t sure if they were able to understand basic, but they were communicating fine, so she wasn’t going to split hairs. She smiled as she was receiving nods from her new companions. Good, she could finally get moving. What she needed to do here was two fold. Learn to move the Force in a way that would allow her to simply disappear. That would be something very interesting to learn.

When she started walking, she was calling the Force to her, to push the energy into her staff.

One of the Felucians stepped over to her and offered what felt like a smile, in the Force anyway, and put his hand on hers and reached out in the Force. The push was a bit more focused and refined. The Felucian nodded as Savannah worked the Force around her and continued to strengthen her staff. This was going to take some practice, for sure.

She swallowed hard as they continued the walk. This planet was alive, and lovely. She smiled with each step. The planet was full of the Force, and life, and challenges. But that was also the problem, She was conversing with the Felucians, and learning about their people. It was all very fascinating for her, even though she was getting eaten alive by insects.

Who thought this was a good idea again? It was her, yeah, definitely her. She didn’t even think twice about it. But the bugs… they were so bad. And the humidity was just being oppressive. She shook her head quickly, especially as the fear set in. She bit her lip as she watched the people around her. One of the Shaman took her, grabbing her shoulder and pulling her of towards the brush on the side of the path.

There was a predator approaching. She crouched down and could feel the Force swirling around her. She was being shushed before she could even ask a question. That was when she realized what was happening. She was being covered. She was being cloaked from view.

The R2 unit burst from the woods in front of the blonde woman. The droid had used the last of it’s rocket fuel to fly away from the Acklay who must’ve seen the shiny droid as nothing more than a chew toy. The Droid’s rocket boosters failed as soon as he came out of the brush and he slid on his front creating a couple meter impact skid on the Felucian soil. The droid already dirtied from being abandoned on the planet by a former master got up dirtier than he previously was. The droid made warning sounds as he shuffled away backwards using his two legs hoping the woman would take care of the creature.

Savannah was looking up from where the Felucian had kept her hidden. She was taking a deep breath. What she needed was to concentrate, and relax. And with that, she was able to feel the Force a bit stronger, and the way it was bending. It was bending light around her and the Felucian. There was something large moving, not too far away, but that was when she heard the noise. Grabbing her staff, she tensed up.

Rockets.

She looked up, grip tight on the staff, just in case. The Force was still moving around her, to reflect the light around her. It was tiring, but she needed to try. The Jedi Padawan stepped up. She was waiting to see what this was. But that was when she saw it.

… An astromech? That was… unique and unexpected. She reached out with the Force as she stood up, pushing her hand down. Letting the Force down, was a mistake though. She heard the Acklay again.

“…Damn.” She shook her head and turned, the Force chased to her again, a barrier forming as she and the Felucians all grabbed their weapons. Preparing for the assault of the beast.

Savannah shook her head. So, there was now this acklay. She pushed the Force around her and into the staff she was carrying. She could feel the others doing the same as the Acklay came at them. She was moving as she was trained, a martial artist, able to step and flow. She rolled herself beyond one of the acklay’s arms and as she turned, another was coming. Swinging her staff, Savannah hit the Acklay’s leg with a lot more force than she expected.

This Force weapon idea was no joke, huh? Another roll, and she saw a Felucian get knocked down. Making a small sprint and slide to their side, she dropped her staff. As she did, though, she felt called to the Force. The one useful skill that her teacher had shared was to make a barrier. As the next leg of the acklay was coming down, Savannah threw her hands up, and a wall was built between her and the leg.

The leg hit and splintered. The blood from the beast was scattering all over as it fled backwards. Turning to check on her new companion, the Felucian nodded to her. They were fine. She smiled as the others handed her staff back to the blonde. Where was that droid?

The droid looked at the force user who had just defeated the acklay. He couldn’t believed how easily she defeated the creature. R2-Z6 rolled up to the human with his middle “foot” extended. The droid whistled inquisitively towards the young Jedi. “Wee-deep-ra-ree?” [do you speak droid binary, organic?]

She sighed as she grabbed her staff again. The blonde was a bit exhausted and had to sit back down after she got up. The Force was not an easy tool to use and Savannah barely knew what she was doing. The fact that Starchaser had sent her out on her own so early was, what she felt, irresponsible. Didn’t matter all that much, she was here, she was learning, and he apparently had plans for her. But he wasn’t letting her know too much about it. As she reached into her bag for some water, the Felucians continued to care for one another, seeing what damage was caused and helping to heal each other.

She took another sip as the droid approached her. White and gold and looking like it had seen better days. Hearing it beep she smiled. “I know a bit. Have a droid on my ship. Where did you come from?”

[member="R2-Z6"]

R2-Z6 scanned the blonde woman, she was by far the most capable organic he had ever encountered. A satellite dish popped out of his head if there were any more dangerous creatures nearby. He listened to the girl when she asked him where he was from, the droid whistled back “bleep-broop-blee-bloo-wee-broo-ree” [My current master was from Coruscant, unfortunately our ship was attacked and I was sent in an escape pod to get help. The ship along with my master was destroyed and I’ve been stuck here since] the droid followed it up by what could only be described as a sad whistle.

Savannah just knew a few tricks when it came to the galaxy. Apparently being a Jedi was some kind of cosmic life hack from the void. That was pretty neat though. She could write a blog ‘These nine lifehacks will change the way you do life.’ And it’d be about using the Force for housework and navigation. And fighting acklays. Normally she’d need, what, a carbine? Nah, she was just going to throw a shield at something and then beat it with an invulnerable stun baton.

Or near invulnerable.

She smiled to herself and shook her head. Right, focus on the hear and now, and all that jazz. Looking back at the droid, she tipped her head to the side. “Destroyed?” She bit her lip. “Are you sure it was destroyed, and didn’t crash?” She was hopeful, but droids didn’t typically deceive. She looked at the Felucians and nodded. They were not in any rush. They could help here first.

It was too damn hot on this planet. D'vok had been here for a week, stuck searching through the lush, never ending jungle for any signs of help, or civilization. He swore there were at least a few trading outposts, but his searching had yielded no results. He pushed on, stopping only to drink from a small flask at his waist. He saw a clearing. Maybe this was his chance? He moved towards it. He could see a droid, and a person. He decided to wait a bit and survey the situation before making contact with them.

She smiled at the droid again, waiting for an answer, but that didn't stop her from looking around. She could feel something through the network of life that was Felucian. Something was coming. That was when she looked around, the Felucians had vanished, from site at least. She reached out in the Force, they were still there. But... she knew someone else was around. She could feel them.

"Hello?" She called, looking up from the droid. She had her stun baton nearby, and the Force, the Force that was hypercharged by this planet. She wasn't afraid, but, yes, she was wary. Who wouldn't be, in this galaxy, with Sith walking around?

She could take a Knight of Ren, but the Sith? Maybe not.

This was it. D'vok stepped out of the lush flora and onto the dirt path, shared by the woman and the droid. He realized he didn't look exactly like a jedi, or an alliance troop, but a week in the jungle will do that to you. His white tank top made him stand out in the contrasting vibrant colors of the native plants, but his green combat pants and black boots helped him camouflage quite well with his surroundings. The only indicator of who or what he might be, was the lightsaber at his waist, as well as a DL-44 and his whiskey flask. He rubbed his eyes, and wiped the sweat from his brow, before turning to the woman.
"Hello-"
He paused to cough a bit.
"...Sorry. Hello."
He gave her a friendly wave.

The droid had to go into low battery mode until he could gain enough solar energy from a custom solar panel modification. Before he shut off he had detected a lifeform nearby so when he did turn on. The droid had his alarm go off to alert her “BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!” The droid then noticed the life form was another organic. The droid looked over to Sav “beep-woo-wee-roo” [this guy cool?] the droid took out his electro shock mod to make sure he didn’t get too close without an answer from her.
