On the lush paradise of Alderaan, the Galactic Alliance will hold its first debate between the four ideological blocs competing for supremacy in the upcoming Senate elections. The four party leaders will take to the stage and give their vision of the Alliance as they see it by answering a series of pressing policy questions. This will be the first time in 10 years that the Chancellor has had a real challenge on her hands from the other voting blocs with the Populists resurging to prominence in the Senate.

To host the event, a massive hovering stage has been erected near a waterfall so as not to interfere with the local ecosystem and a number of viewing platforms accompany it. While the majority of the evening will be filled with political intrigue, there will also be rare social opportunities hidden in the event. The Alliance's wealthiest and most powerful people will be gathered at this event to see how the future of the Alliance could look following the election and tonight's debate will give everyone a clear sense of who to get behind. And you may even get a chance to ask one of the candidates a question.

While everyone waits for the four candidates to take the stage, some entertainment and refreshments are available. Those less inclined to social functions can find their own fun during the event, but warned, this will be a heavily guarded function.

"Governor Arturo, is it true you intend to challenge Chancellor Chandra in the current election" Reporters never did understand what a cold shoulder meant. As the Governor and his small entourage of Eufornisian Officials walked to take their seats, the media pounced. A quick raise of the eyebrow from his personal secretary sent to the reporter the ominous threat necessary to stop the nitpicking. "But-"

"The answer" He began. "Is not do I intend to challenge the Chancellor, who already has the clear and present support of the Federal Bloc, the question is do I want the Chancellery"

"And the answer is: I don't know" With a smirk, the Governor and his wife locked arms and proceeded to their seats. A nod of approval from the gathered press corps signaled enough for a pickup story, especially considering the political circles on Eufornis were simply buzzing with anticipation for him to address the awkward matter of his candidacy. Did he truly want to lead the Galactic Alliance. Maybe. one day. Only time would tell if this was that day.

Election time. Until the dawn of the 860s, for Gat Tambor, he would've been content to remain in the shadows, a financier funneling money to those most beneficial to his business ventures. But with the beginning of this turbulent decade, the urge to enact great change and inlay great influence into the Galaxy overtook Gat Tambor. From the Confederacy, the Galactic Alliance and New Imperial Order, Tambor's influence has eclipsed many governments, corporations and events.

For the second time in this decade, he sought the reins of political leadership once more in seeking the seat of the Galactic Alliance's chancellory. The election of 862 aby was what most every critic and politico called the 'closest we'd ever see' to Gat Tambor being elected. He sought to defy this odds, swearing in private the results of 862aby, which came down to the final counts in vital Deep Core worlds was rigged in favor of the Federalists, as despite Emmen Tagge's party largely coming to the ranks of Gat Tambor, there was a backroom deal between the leadership of the Populist and Federalist party to rig the election in favor of Chandra in the hopes important components of Populist legislation would survive her regime.

This, at least, is what Gat Tambor was pretty convinced was going on. Regardless, he'd scrap and fight for every vote and do by the process. The first battle came tonight.

Chandra. The ever expected establishment, politician, diplomat WASTE. Annasari, a fellow anti-establishment renegade candidate such as himself but was...a hopeful bleeding heart in contrast to Gat's tough nosed, pragmatic and prosperous capitalism.

And then there was Sularen. Gat was pretty sure he'd be facing the debate floor face first within ten minutes with Galactic Alliance police swarming him so in all truth, he was pretty confident his voter base would come Tambor's way before long.

"Director Gat Tambor of Skako, representing the Corporatist-Populist bloc." One of the announcers sounded out and soon the Skakoan was hovering unto the stage, offering an idle wave the way of the audience as he recieved a share of thunderous applause from the section housing his invited guests, being recent graduates of the Skakoan institute of engineering and technology, supporters who were wounded Alliance veterans from the Third Imperial Civil War and of course, bodybuilders, to make his voting base look as 'powerful' as possible.

He stood before his podium waiting for the others to arrive...and for the battle to begin.

"The citizens of the Alliance want to see your softer side, the matriarch, the maternal presence in their lives..." a voice following closely behind Adhira chirped as the dusky Balmorran made her way throw a cabal of political analysts and reporters to the behind-the-scenes staging area of the debate. The Chancellor, dressed in metallic gold robes with her pitch-black hair wound tightly above her read, rounded on the voice. "What!?" Several faces turned in the direction of the sudden outburst, but Aaarav instinctively reached out and steadied Adhira to keep her from exploding further.

"What people need right now," she forced her voice into a hushed tone, "is a leader, not a grandmother." Her advisors shrank back from their own advice and Adhira realized, perhaps a moment too late, that she had been a bit harsh. It was, unfortunately, true that after such a bloody confrontation with the Sith Empire that many in the Alliance were likely seeking comfort. Just as she was expected to be the Command In Chief during times of war, the people of the Alliance also looked to her for comfort in times of difficulty. "Right, well," Adhira removed the gold choker that clenched tightly around her neck and flattened the high collar of her cloak, all in one stroke making her look softer, older even. She let Aaarav land a quick peck on her cheek before the moderator spoke.

"Chancellor Adhira Chandra, representing the Federalist Bloc!"

The older woman swept gracefully across the stage, a single open palm raised in greeting. She gave a moment to glare at the Sakoan chairman before returning to the beaming smile that she hoped would continue to charm the people of the Alliance.

There was profound awe as Annasari stood at the edge of the stage, watching the other candidates from the edge of the curtain. Beyond them, the buzz of a massive crowd drew her attention. Where nerves once lived was filled with an unrivaled determination. Looking out upon the debate platform, she realized just how far she had come from the streets of Nar Shadda; but she desired more.

Myra picked at the white and gold robes that hung from her petite form, buzzing around frantically. Anna waved her away with a flick of her hand. The old woman may have been concerned, but she wasn't. The words she spoke mattered far more than her appearance, and her coming announcement for vice-chancellory would surely garner further support.

"It's time, Miss." Myra had informed her, looking to the stage as well.

There was no acknowledgment other than a step forward. Then another. The senator's feet carried her onto the platform, the brilliant spotlight illuminating her face as she took the stage. She offered a warm smile to the crowd with a slow wave.

"Senator Annasari Vahl of Jakku, representing the populist bloc."

The applause was lesser than that of her two opponents, but she expected such. The deep core didn't favor her nearly as much as planets further out. She glanced sideways, scanning both the chancellor and the renowned executive. She offered a cheeky grin to both, before turning her attention to the notes upon her podium.

ALDERAAN
On the Debate Stage

Sularen watched from Backstage as one by one the other Candidates of the Snap Elections headed towards the Podium meet with thunderous applauses. Sularen was nervous and rightfully so. The Standoff that had occurred had just ended and yet the Lord-Imperator had been nominated for the Chancellorship of the Galactic Alliance despite having no intentions in doing so. It was an even bigger surprise to Sularen that his nomination was legitimate , although being the every cautious individual he had his suspicions especially given his current relationship within the Galactic Alliance.

Despite warnings from Dorian Sevenar about the potential danger of these Snap Elections and the possibility of it being a trap , Sularen was never the type of person who never backed down from a Challenge as shown with recent events at Byss. While his Chances at winning were low , Sularen's overall goals were not to become Chancellor , but rather to identify his supporters within the Senate and use these Snap Elections as a means to further advance his goals by secretly expanding his support via those who held sympathy with the Lord-Imperator and supported him. After all , there were Trillions of Sentient within the Galactic Alliance and there was no doubt that despite the obvious opposition he faced in the Senate there would still be a few Billion to support him.

"Nervous?" someone said behind him. Sularen chuckled. "Very funny , Denzul." Sularen replied in an annoyed tone "I've been through far worse , i think can handle a few Snap elections" the Lord-Imperator said confidently."Yeah , that's what you said at Byss yet look what happened." The Senator of Byss said in response. "Well if anything goes wrong we have the Phantom and her Boys ready to bail me out , in case the Alliance does anything. Plus there isn't any sort of warrant for my arrest at this point , not to mention an inquiry about the recent events at Byss after these Elections. I doubt the Alliance would move against me. Plus it will allow me to gain more support from Fringe Populist and Imperialist Groups and further expand my influence."

"Just don't mess up this time Ok. Remember everyone including the Chancellor is watching you. You've already damaged your image the last time you appeared in public , now you have the opportunity to fix it." Denzul said patting Sularen on the shoulder "Now , show them how Powerful you really are" . And with that , Sularen headed out making way towards the Platform where the other Candidates awaited him with spotlights illuminating around him as the Lord-Imperator in his Crimson Imperial Uniform headed towards his Podium.

"Lord-Imperator Marlon Sularen , representing the Imperialist Bloc"

The applause that ensued was lesser then the ones of Tambor and Chandra but slightly louder then Vahl's. In the wake of recent events , Support for Sularen had increased as the Standoff had attracted alot of Fringe Groups from the Populist and Imperialist Specters not to mention that certain Planets with Strong Ties to Imperialism had slowly started to veer towards his side viewing the Lord-Imperator as a champion of the Core Imperial Cause through what they saw as another attempt to oppress what as left of Imperialism in the Core. Because of Sularen , Imperialist Elements in the Core had slowly began to crawl out of the shadows and they were slowly rallying themselves behind him.

Thus the Stage was Set for an incredibly spectacular Snap-Elections.

The Epochian Senator watched from the crowd as the candidates entered the political battleground on stage in front of the masses. The elder Jedi sat in the front row alongside the up and coming junior representative Via Via and the Epochian mogul now Chief Senatorial Aide, Lyzeara Fluree. He had been most interested in how the political talks would go, how one candidate would fair under pressure and the general stance of each leader. Now more than ever a firm hand from a strong leader was needed to hold their Great Alliance together as the galaxy spiraled into chaos all around them.

His vote was in the Federalist Party of which he belonged, a vote for Adhira Chandra Adhira Chandra and the centralized government her cabinet maintained. Although it was far too early to see who was the best candidate, opinions could always be swayed and other factors could be brought to light. He leaned forward with optimistic vigor as his Chief Aide whispered in his ear. The older statesman nodded softly and turned to face his counterpart with a dismissive wave excusing her to handle what business needed tending to.

With an open seat next to him he rested his arm on the comfy rest of his chair and relaxed. Eager as what the future of their Alliance would look like next.

First came Senator Tambor, the neo-conservtive nominee of the Corportist Party who to him reeked of ultra-national vision. Then, the Chancellor herself, a warm and welcoming image of wisdom and power. Finally, Sularen, the devil himself, took to the stage.

"They can't do it" Before any of the gathered candidates had even spoken, the Governor's mind had been made up. He would run. And he would debate, if at all allowed. The Aide who had been seated next to him quickly moved to whisper into the Moderator's ear, closely followed by Arturo himself. Everything about their stride to the moderators podium had to be done correctly, in order to prevent speculation from either the press or the gathered candidates.

"He's running" The aide whispered. "But...you know....can you uh-you know, give him a podium and the right opportunity to announce" The aide stumbled many times, finding herself incapable of finding the correct words. The Governor however, approved of her handing of the situation as it seemed as though he wanted certain questions asked rather than a launch for his own candidacy. At a debate, nonetheless!

From behind the majority of the crowd a pair of Senate Commandos, in a polite but firm way, made way for the titanic serpent who dwarfed the majority of the visitors in size. The purple scales of Senator Sssar Taszzn hadn't been seen for quite some time though he held himself with the same imperious aire that was not too dissimilar from a Hutt. He knew the gravity of his station, his imposing stature, and all that came with either "Make way." instructed one of the Commandos who, with a stern hand, moved a lesser politician from the Senator's path.

As the Senator and his guard moved past the upstart, Sssar, looked down at him as if he was little more than a womprat "Sssshameful." he hissed lowly then turned his attention once again forward. There in the lush natural garden of Alderaan he saw the candidates on their hovering platform. Deciding this place was as good as any the serpent began to circle over himself then drew his tail below him, the ever turning mass below made its own rustling noise as scales scraped over scales "As you wish Senator." spoke the Commando to his left while the one on his right scanned the crowd. As well Guarded as the venue was, this Commando would not be the one to lose a Senator.

Sssar's vigilant gaze fell on one particular candidate, Adhira Chandra Adhira Chandra , arguably his oldest and now his most influential political ally "Go on, old friend, give me a reasssson to vote." he hissed only to chuckle to himself in a way that disturbed some of the socialites nearest him, they traded discomforted looks with one another before making their exit to a different side of the event.

In the shadow of the well-known names in Alliance politics, fielding the questions from reporters on what lay ahead in the debate, Dalton stepped onto the red carpet. He was a relatively unknown figure on the galactic stage, with a history of strong local support for his policies from his home on Hosnian Prime. The holo-cams aimed in his direction from time to time and the odd reporter question about his recent elevation to Senator of Hosnian Prime was met with a smile and a simple answer.

"I'm just happy to be representing the people of Hosnian Prime in the Alliance Senate. I'm here to do my best for them and all of the peoples of the Alliance." Before moving forward. He shook hands with some of the other Senators and leaders of this merchant guild and that major corporation. As he moved closer to where he'd be sitting for the debate, those around him were more and more Senators of the Alliance, a group he'd be needing to work closely within the times ahead. His smile became more and more sincere, and he began to listen more than talk.

Alderaan

Oh politics....

He hadn't been involved in such matters since the days of the Republic when he first joined the Jedi Order. That seemed like so long ago. Even now, he seemed as lost now as he was then. Given the fact that Kahne never paid much attention to the political game only when it concerned something with the Jedi. However this was an entirely new playing field and he had no idea who really, any of these people where. Not personally, but by reputation that was an entirely different story. The faces he had seen on the banners he had recognized, on the holograms that seemed to pop up everywhere as well as the scripts that lit up everywhere.

THe Jedi dressed for the occasion somewhat well, sporting a rather good tuxedo for this event. Not wanting to flaunt the traditional Jedi attire tonight. He wasn't looking to draw attention to his status as he was more particular keen on listening to what the senators had to say. For the debates were always good for quick wit and seeing what they were really about, and it would help Kahne get to know them a little better than he had. For tonight he was indeed a stranger amongst these people.

Halifax's eyes widened as the newest challenger stepped up to the plate, but he worked to keep a friendly smile and hide the surprise. Leaning down to the mic, he spoke once more.

"Donovan Arturo."

As the staffers began to scurry and procure a position on the stage for him, the reporter couldn't help but feel this would only be the beginning of tonight's chaos. Clearing his throat, he looked straight ahead to the HoloNews Network camera.

"Ladies and gentleman, thank you for tuning in tonight. I am Halifax Hewitt, and I will be serving as moderator. This debate is funded by the Alliance Commission for Debates. We are gearing up for one of the tensest nights the Commission has ever seen, as all parties seem to be split between these four- I'm sorry, five- candidate, all extremely different in their views. Tonight's debate will consist of five, fifteen minute segments. Each segment will open with a question, followed by another. Candidates will be allowed two minutes to answer before moving on to the next; after all questions are answered, the floor will be open discussion until the next segment. I have prepared tonight's segments, and can assure you, no one has lied eyes on them except for myself."

He looked down to scan the papers in front of him first before continuing.

"Many citizens have lived in fear every day since we joined the ongoing war against the Sith Empire. It is commonly thought it was not a matter of if they would strike back against the core, but when. Now, we see skirmishes of increasing fervor to our north with this Brotherhood of the Maw. What steps will you take to ensure our citizens safety against these extragalactic threats? Director Tambor, two minutes."

Gat Tambor's gaze remained as placid and intrigued as it always seemed to behind the pressurized goggles of his Skakoan atmo suit. After twisting a knob on the suit to pump another microdose of Mind Spiral through him before speaking up, he was quick to address the question. There would be no doubt in his mind the Third Imperial Civil War and its spin-off conflicts would be the main topic of discussion here. It enraptured all geo-political relations in the Galaxy and given its prominence and strategic yet vulnerable position within the Galactic Core, there was no doubt the Galactic Alliance would be at the forefront.

He seemed to take another moment to dial one of the knobs on his atmo suit, praying that it didn't malfunction again. Usually, he outright didn't care and thought the machine like howl was a power move unlike any other, but now was not the time.

"Thank you, mister Halifax and thank you to the beautiful planet of Alderaan and its people for playing host for all of us tonight." He began, dialing in the knob on his suit once more.

He looked to the main camera centered on the stage, trying to 'ease' his gaze but in all truth, still came off as well, unnerving in his alien appearance.

"We live in perilous times, there is no avoiding this unfortunate reality and the Third Imperial Civil War and the chaos that has spawned around it is as much as a problem in the Alliance as it is anywhere else. The Sith threat has shown that it extends past the borders of the Sith Empire, we have seen this in domestic attacks on Alliance worlds as well as the destruction of Csilla at the hands of the Brotherhood of the Maw." Gat Tambor iterates.

"Now- is simply not the time where weakness can be tolerated as a policy of the Galactic Alliance or its defense force. We have to be a proactive player on the Galactic stage, to ensure the safety and prosperity of our people. But how can this be achieved? We have the fortunate draw of fate that we have avoided the effects of total war to this point- however, the people of the Galactic Alliance will not be content in sending its sons and daughters to die in far off worlds thus- reforms need be made." Gat explains.

"In short, what the Corporatist party proposes is two fold, firstly, the fighting strength of the Galactic Alliance must be supplemented by contracting the myriad of Corporate powers that operate in Alliance space, allow forces such as the Republic Engineering Corporation, the Trade Defense Force and other entities to join the fight in an official capacity. While of course, this would require credits from the tax payers of the Galactic Alliance, this cost would be worthwhile in that more of their sons and daughters, more of their brothers and sisters can remain home in safety and ultimately, less Alliance citizens put themselves in harms way." Gat proposes.

"And lastly... we must do right by those who have volunteered to serve the Galactic Alliance as part of our Defense Force and thus I propose a package in which years of service in the Galactic Alliance Defense Force provide incentives upon the completion of the initial service contract, being access to medical, both physical and psychological benefits, educational benefits allowing returning military men and women to acquire higher education and certifications as well as business and living grants. While this certainly would require more of the tax payer again, it is a cost that will pay itself off down the line, by turning our best soldiers, marines and naval service men and women into our best entrepeneurs, thinkers and craftsman- no doubt attracting more to volunteer to fight but as well- establishing a prosperous future for the Alliance once the time comes for peace once more. That will be all." Gat concludes.

Gemma's wide, toothy smile filled the bottom half of her face as her co-moderator Halifax asked the first question of the evening. Her eyes rippled to show interest in what candidate Tambor was saying, but the smile remained unchanged. When the Skakoan had finished speaking, the flamboyant woman turned her mic on and cleared her throat melodically. "Thank you Chairman Tambor for that thoughtful answer," she chirped, then her bright blue eyes turned on Chancellor Adhira Chandra Adhira Chandra , "Same question for you, Chancellor. How do you plan to keep our people safe as these conflicts increase throughout our sphere of influence?"

Gemma's grin seemed almost menacing now.

Adhira made an incredulous noise as Gat Tambor Gat Tambor concluded his initial remarks following the first question, something that was likely to be caught by the media - she hoped. Her attention snapped immediately to the moderator, Gemma Gronkite as she levied the same question in her direction. The Chancellor could only smile, fully prepared for the answer she was about to give.

"Well, let me tell you," Adhira said coolly, as she stepped out from behind her podium to address the audience more directly, "I have been in the situation room during every engagement we have had with the Sith Empire - a galactic power that I think we all can objectively agree is a serious threat to our democracy. We saw many key victories during that war and we significantly weakened the Empire to the point that our High Command now believes they pose no significant threat to our Alliance. I made the tough calls in real time to safeguard the people of the Galactic Alliance."

"You ask how I would keep our people safe during conflict?"
the old woman glanced at the other candidates dismissively, "The same way I did during the last conflict. With proactivity, precision, and strength."

Adhira gathered her robes and returned to her place behind the podium.

"Well put, Chancellor Chandra." Halifax stated as Adhira finished. With a slight smile, he turned to Annasari. "Onto you, Senator Vahl."

Pale blue eyes flitted from her opponents to the audience. After clearing her throat softly, sharp words cut through the silence.

"Alliance Citizens have seen what proactivity has brought." She stated plainly. "The war machine keeps turning as parents lay their children to rest far before their time. The battle with the sith empire has brought pain to our people, weakened our forces, and emptied our treasuries. To continue, would be utter folly."

Her gaze scanned the crowd as she continued.

"We must pull back from Sith Space. The Third Imperial War is not our battle. We must pull back from the holy crusades and our Imperial ties, and think with logic and our peoples in mind. With a retreat, we can restrategize, replenish resources, and increase border security. Then, when we find ourselves ready, we will strike back against the heathens to our North, before they have a chance to hit us."

"A Very Interesting Senator Vahl" Halifax stated as the Populist Senator from Jakku Finished. Then he turned to Sularen "Sularen , i leave the floor to you now"

Sularen then shifted his focus from his opponents to the Crown before him and soon began.

"The Safety of our Citizens is critical to the integrity of the Galactic Alliance and the Core Worlds as a whole. When the Galactic Alliance first joined the War against the Sith Empire , it was in order to prevent the Sith from launching any potential offensive into the Core Worlds. Now with the Sith Empire on the verge of defeat surrounded by various factions ranging from Imperials to Jedi Extremists or Rogue Sith Factions we must reconsider our stance in the Third Imperial Civil War."

"Thus i believe it would be best if the Galactic Alliance limited it's role in the Third Imperial Civil War withdrawing all major Assets and only maintaining a supportive role in the fight against the Sith with the creation of a Joint GADF-SIA Expeditionary Task Force to combat the Sith in support of the New Imperials and the Ashlan Crusaders. Next i would move forth to fortify the Frontier Worlds to protect the Galactic Alliance's Northern Borders from the growing threat of the Brotherhood of the Maw and further escalate the Expansion of the Military to support this new act in order to create an impenetrable line of defense to protect the inner core from further Mawite assault."

"And Finally i'd would move forth to create a Galactic Alliance Guard as a SIA Paramilitary Force dedicated in ensuring the continued stability of the Alliance internally. With the recent Corellian-Durosian Attack on Byss , it is clear that the Galactic Alliance requires a Rapid-Response Force capable of taking down rogue threats from within whenever they appear. The Galactic Alliance Guard will serve this purpose and will ensure the continued stability of the Alliance against Threats to our National Security"

Nodding along, Halifax leaned forward as the Senator continued.

"Thank you for your answer, Lord Imperator. I do have a follow-up question- we will allow a short period of debate, following your answer. You mentioned creating the Galactic Alliance Guard. If memory serves me right, they were an established entity centuries ago, and came under fire during their initial period of creation. The renowned Master Luke Skywalker called out the establishment as being far too close to authorities of the Galactic Empire, and it is suspected they went on to commit many a crime themselves as their leader fell to the dark side. Why would we want to repeat that history?"

He tilted his head, eyeing the man carefully.

"The main difference between the First Alliance's Galactic Guard and my proposed Guard would be it's function. As i said it would act as a Paramilitary Force dedicated to maintaining security within the Alliance to be utilized as a Rapid-Response Force in cases of Domestic Emergencies such as in the case of the recent Byss Crisis where you would have rogue planets launching attacks on other Member-States. Other examples of Domestic Emergencies would include Major Disasters and Natural Disasters where the Galactic Alliance Guard would provide assistance to the World in need to ensure a quick recovery"
