SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: First Order Security Bureau Headquarters
  • Classification: Intelligence Bureau Headquarters
  • Location: Dosuun
  • Affiliation: The First Order
  • Accessibility: The building itself is not clandestine and is easily located, not far from the Imperial Palace, adjacent to Calgar Square in eastern Avalonia. There are even public spaces, but the vast majority of it is highly secured and controlled, as would be expected from the headquarters of an intelligence agency. Access to the upper and basement/sub-basement/catacomb levels are strictly controlled, with heavy patrols, concealment, and restricted electronic access controls.
  • Description: The outside of the building, with its understated, classical Sullivanesque architecture, belies its true nature. The stately tower was in its previous life the headquarters of a bank. The building is some twenty stories tall, standing at the rear of a broad plaza. What is unseen from the exterior are the expansive underground reaches of the building, the upgraded security measures that have made the building a veritable fortress.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Moff's Office Suite

What was once the bank's board room has been re-imagined as an office for the Home Secretary, the Moff that oversees the First Order Security Bureau. The large room features dark wood paneling and floors, polished brass light fixtures, contrasted with modern furnishings for a small sitting area, a broad desk, and a small conference area. Most striking of the room's features is the massive clockface that looms over the lobby, serving as a window down onto the lobby floor three stories below. The office opens into a secured lobby area where visitors can wait for appointments. Also adjacent to the office is a larger conference room, a small kitchenette and a private refresher.

Director's Office Suite

Pictured above with a deputy director, the office is bright and open, with large, reinforced windows overlooking Avalonia. At present, the room is sparsely decorated, waiting for the Director to put her own spin on things. Like the Moff's Office Suite, it contains a small seating area, a small conference area and in separate rooms: an outer office, a conference room, a kitchenette and a private refresher.

Analysis Bullpens

Assigned at a team level, there are dozens of Analysis Bullpens throughout the building. A communal, secured workspace, the analysis bullpens are designed to serve as a collaborative space for those assigned to the same project to work together. These are typically ringed with small individual offices as well, so that when work needs to be taken in private, it can be directly transferred to an individual workstation nearby, and vice versa when individual work could benefit from a group perspective. The bullpens feature privacy glass, sound dampening, and intense firewall security for the local network, ensuring operational and informational security. They also feature central holoprojectors so that information can be shared with the larger group quickly and efficiently.

Secured Vaults

The building's past life as a bank came in particularly handy for the Bureau, as there were four state-of-the-art vaults already installed in the basement level of the bank. The vaults are used for secure storage of Security Bureau assets, including but not limited to: currencies, confiscated valuable goods that are related to ongoing investigations, intelligence caches, and other valuables.

Catacombs - Offices
gR6rsfv.png
Beneath the building are several subfloors of reinforced sub-basement, known by members of the Bureau as the catacombs, although the area has never been used as a burial site as is suggested by the name. Having learned the lessons of the Ssi-Ruuk Imperium's sacking of Dosuun, the Bureau conducted extensive clandestine excavations beneath the building, complete with state-of-the-art oxygen scrubbing, ventilation, and security, with an eye towards survivability in the event of another siege. The blackest of black ops tend to be planned in the catacombs offices. Some of the offices are also used as interrogation rooms as the need arises.

Catacombs - Training Centers

The catacombs features extensive practice and training facilities, including gyms, firing ranges, and other areas for self-improvement, complete with locker rooms, showers, saunas, and two large swimming pools, used occasionally for underwater operations training. Also featured are several large, cavernous chambers that can be configured for various training simulations.

Catacombs - Quartermasters' Labs

The Bureau's Quartermasters, brilliant engineers and operatives in their own right, design, produce, and test clandestine technologies, new weapons, and spy gadgets within the top-secret labs in the catacombs. These rooms are particularly well-insulated and reinforced to allow for the testing of explosives and other devices in relative safety.

Catacombs - Medical Wing
Not Pictured
A fully-stocked medical bay with supplies for a long-term siege, the medical wing features a dozen beds, half a dozen medical droids, two doctors and two nurses, in addition to a fully-kitted pharmacy with a pharmacist and droid assistant.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Following the sack of Dosuun, when the former First Order Security Bureau headquarter was leveled, the newly rechartered First Order requisitioned a former bank office in eastern Avalonia. The building was restored and refurbished from top to bottom, building in top-of-the-line security and top-notch construction techniques to strengthen and fortify the building. The buildings around the new headquarters had been all but leveled and were not rebuilt; instead, the space around it was cleared and paved, save for a large reflecting pool and several greenbelts. The square was renamed Calgar Square in memory of former (and presumed deceased) Minister of Security Dante Calgar. A statue and plaque are placed near the entrance to the Bureau's headquarters.

Rebuilding the headquarters was a long, laborious process, but it was finally completed and dedicated shortly before the destruction of Csilla. The building implemented lessons learned from the Sack of Dosuun, with several redundancies built in place to ensure that data stores and personnel would be able to continue operations in the event of a planetary sacking the likes of which had been witnessed during the last Ssi-Ruuk Imperium invasion. This includes layers of power generation and data connection, emergency rations and water supplies and treatment facilities, and a medical wing.
