After a morning of personal training and meditation, Valery had retreated back to the Council Chambners. She had a meeting planned with Kellen Mynn Kellen Mynn , a Jedi Master who she had personally never met before. But with her constant effort to familiarize herself with the Jedi under her leadership, she wanted to change that. What better way than to take on an assignment and invite a fellow Jedi to come along? Not only would it give her the chance to ask questions, but she'd also be able to see him working in the field.

Sometimes, one's actions said the most about character.

<Guards, once he's at the turbolift, please let him up,> Valery said through her comms. Ever since she had been targeted by assassins and bounty hunters, the Temple Guards were far more strict about guarding her, even inside the Council Chambers. But Master Mynn would find free passage up into the tower, where Valery was waiting on her own, and currently staring at the Coruscant skyline.

This would be an interesting day.

Kellen had spent the past few months here at the temple, instructing younglings and masterless padawans on various lightsaber forms, techniques and applications. His past experience in battle served to give practical but fun classes to his students. He wanted them prepared for what would eventually come to them in their futures; conflict.

Today he was to meet with one of the orders most esteemed members and a High Councilor, though they had never met personally he was of course aware of her. It was next to impossible to know every Jedi personally given the size of their Order though when one's feats reach a certain level of notability it was hard not to at least be aware of such paladins of the light.

The Temple Guards let him through the tower and up to the Council chambers. Kellen had only stepped foot in these chambers but a few times but it still found a way to take his breath away as he paused by the doors and gazed around. Walking up behind Valery Noble Valery Noble he gazed out at the view of Coruscant as he spoke.

"Quite the view. It's been awhile since I've seen it from this high up. It's a honor to meet you, Master Noble."

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Master Mynn," Valery said as she turned around to look at the man. Rather than greet him from within her seat, she gestured for him to join her by the panoramic windows of the tower. The view across Coruscant was a pleasant one, and she much preferred to talk with both Jedi standing as well. It helped create a better atmosphere, where she could learn more about the Jedi she had invited over.

Of course, she had read up on his files a little already, but it was far more interesting to learn in person.

"How has your stay at the Temple been so far? Anything that I could help with to make it better?" He had only been here for a few months, after all, and the size of the Temple could be a little overwhelming. Even for an experienced Jedi Master, if they weren't used to a planet like Coruscant.

Her own Jedi training had been within the jungles of New Cov, after all.

"I also had something I wanted to discuss with you — an assignment that I'd like you to join me for."

Having been gestured to follow, Kellen approached the large windows and got a clearer view of the massive ecumenopolis. Though he had been to quite a few planets in his travels, Coruscant was something one never really got used to seeing and experiencing. So much life packed into all of the towered buildings layered on top one another. It was quite a marvel indeed.

Kellen shot his fellow Master a kind smile before responding.
"Thank you but I am settling just fine so far. It has been a pleasure to teach students while here. I find I learn from them more often than I teach." The man chuckled.

And it was true. Teaching required a certain type of person to be able to impart knowledge on another in a coherent yet practical manner. Simply having the wisdom to share didn't always correlate with the sharing part. Kellen was simply lucky he found himself to not be absolutely horrible at it.

Master Noble's words brought him out of his thoughts as he focused back on her. Now she had his interest in earnest. While teaching was admittedly relaxing and a change of pace, he yearned to be back out in the field.

"Is that so? What sort of assignment do you plan on us gallivanting around on?"

"That's good to hear," Valery said with a warm smile, "I'm sure the students are happy to have another teacher." For a while, there hadn't been that many experienced Jedi to teach the younger generations. She had been one of the few Jedi Masters, and most of the Jedi Knights were all extremely young and influenced by wars during their years as Padawan learners. It had made them far less traditional than Valery preferred Jedi to be, and she had long given up on the overly extreme detachment policies of the old Order herself.

That generation of Knights had been... difficult, but with teachers like Kellen offering their assistance, she felt confident the Jedi would do what they were supposed to do.

"I had a feeling that would catch your interest," Valery said with a chuckle, as she noticed him snapping out of his thoughts at the mention of a joint assignment. "The Galactic Alliance is currently at war with the Mandalorians, but we're also facing a potential threat with the Sith retaking the ancient Sith worlds."

"I'm going to do some scouting at their border based off of intel that might suggest new expansion plans. I'd like you to join me," Valery explained. "There's a good chance this mission will be quite boring, especially if we don't see anything. But there's also a risk that we'll run into trouble, so that's why I prefer to go with someone else."

Kellen nodded his head in understanding. The recent aggression by the Mandalorians wasn't a surprise to anyone who knew their cultures history. While there were times they would not be as...martial...at times. There was no doubt warfare was their bread and butter and it was foolish to expect otherwise regardless of what their current government called themselves.

"Of course. If we're going on a camping trip to Sith space then I'll gladly join in. I've been hearing rumblings of intel coming in via my military contacts. Seems like they're making quite the stir in the Outer Rim." Kellen thought for a moment before running his hand through his thick beard. "Then again that is where most our troubles come from."

While most Masters tended to have contacts among the political side of things for diplomacy sake, Kellen tended to stick close to the GADF. It was his thing. And honestly, if the man hadn't been born Force Sensitive then he'd have no doubt he would either be a General or Admiral somewhere fighting the good fight. But his Jedi life proved to be the perfect fit.

"Just let me know when we're heading out boss. I always keep a packed bag for failed...well, that doesn't quite need mentioning now does it, Kellen?" The man chuckled to himself and glanced at Master Noble.

"That is where most of our problems come from now," Valery said with a chuckle. "But that's mostly because we're dealing with cowards who hide among the already troubled people there." In the Outer Rim, there was far less likely going to be coordinated resistance against the Sith or Mandalorians who were seeking power. But if left to grow, they could become more than strong enough to threaten the Alliance in the Core as well.

It's for that reason, that Valery organized these missions to acquire intelligence and potentially neutralize exposed targets. Whether or not they'd be confronting anything with this mission remained to be seen, but she had a feeling that it was going to get tense. It was... just this little tremor in the Force she sometimes felt ahead of time.

"Meet me in the Hangar in about an hour, then," Valery said with a chuckle of your own. "Bring enough to be out there for a few days, just in case. But if we run into trouble and have to stay out there for long, I'm sure we'll manage too." With that said, Valery gestured for the turbolift and went all the way down with him, so they could go their separate ways for now and meet up again in the Hangar.

Kellen affirmed her orders with a curt nod and exited the Council Chambers with her as they both entered the turbolift. It had been awhile since he had left Coruscant and he was eager to be back out in space. And Master Noble's words rang true for him as well. It should be a routine mission but nothing is ever so simple when the Sith are involved. Or the Outer Rim in general.

"Will do. I'll be ready and shall meet you there." It was wise to prepare for a few days stay. He had a 'overnight pack' he'd like to use when he knew he would be present on a planet or other for at least a week. Anything over that allotted time usually meant scavenging, which he wasn't apposed to either. Sometimes it helped having been born on some backwater frontier world after all.

Once the turbolift came to a stop, Kellen proceeded to return to his private quarters within the Temple and started to pack some supplies and extra gear. Everything one might need for a weeks stay in normal environments. Besides, this was a routine reconnaissance mission, what could go wrong?

Kellen knocked on the wood of his prized box holding his family heirloom before going find something to kill some time.

Having prepared the assignment and briefing, Valery already knew what to expect from the mission. So she had all of her stuff ready and packed, with rations and clothes to last her a week under relatively normal circumstances. Once she had collected them from her quarters, she made her way down into the Hangar, and lowered the ramp of the Bastion, her husband's light-freighter that she often took out for missions.

It was a lot bigger than her fighter or smaller shuttles, so it offered some more comfort and could get them out of difficult situations far more easily than other ships.

After the ramp had lowered, Valery brought her stuff inside and already made her way into the cockpit to start preliminary checks before take-off. That way, by the time Kellen Mynn Kellen Mynn arrived, they were ready for departure.

<Master Mynn,> Valery said over a secured comm channel to him, <Once you're in the Hangar, feel free to join me in the light-freighter with the lowered ramp. I have everything ready to get going.>

Kellen had just grabbed his gear and headed out of his quarters when his communicator chirped to life with the voice of Master Noble. After acknowledging her message, he found his way to the hangar and up the ramp of the described freighter. After spending a moment familiarizing himself with some of the interior and finding a place to place his gear, he headed for the cockpit.

As he entered, he quickly moved to occupy a position on the bridge and aided with preliminary checks for the ship having been a able pilot himself. He glanced around the cockpit and smiled.

"Quite the ship you have. Don't suppose it's for sale is it?"

Kellen's known playfulness could be heard in his question. Not that he would want to actually buy the freighter, maybe, but it was mainly his way of being friendly and putting those around him at ease. Especially when you were going on a possible week long assignment together. Quiet contemplation wouldn't do here.

"I scratched the paint once, and my husband nearly made me sleep on the couch for it. If I sell it, I think he might kill me," Valery joked back, though she actually wouldn't want to see Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble 's face if she were to sell the Bastion. Or, worse, if she got it destroyed somehow. Valery blinked at the thought, and shook her head to snap out of that nightmare, so she could go back to focusing on the mission.

With Kellen's help, all checks were made and positive, and she wasted no time in getting them up and out of the atmosphere for their Hyperspace jump.

"Once we're at the border, let's initiate some long-range scans first. They're not as detailed, but it's far less likely for the Sith to find us. Shorter range scans and they might detect we're out here." Valery soon pulled the ship from Hyperspace, and turned to see if Kellen had already found the scanners.

He seemed like a pilot, so she figured she'd let him help.

"If I may ask, where were you trained? On Coruscant? Or did you learn on an Enclave further out?"

He chuckled at her comments and although he did not know Master Khalil personally, any Jedi worth their salt knew of him and the rest of the esteemed Councilors.

As soon as they made their way into Hyperspace, Kellen nodded at the words of Valery and began preparing a wide band sensor sweep for when they entered the system. It would be strong enough to give them a idea of what they were looking at in system but nothing enough to give out a bigger signal than they'd like.

The moment the Bastion entered the system, Kellen initiated the long-range scans. He tapped away on his console as the information began coming in for him to decipher. He turned his head towards his companions direction for a moment before responding to her inquiry.

"Coruscant for the most part. At least my younger years. My Master and I frequented the Outer Rim more often than not. It's where I learned all my...unorthodox skills, I'd say. Drop me on any outback planet and come back in a few months and I've more than likely gone native." Kellen chuckled at having to picture this, especially considering it may or may not have happened once. Or twice.

Maybe a few times but that isn't the point. Damn, he was arguing with himself again.

"And you? I'd never consider asking a lady her age but I've heard tale of your rather exciting history. Someone should make a holovid of you."

"Sometimes I wonder what it'd be like to have gone through training on Coruscant. But... I don't really like the planet, so I'm glad I was trained elsewhere," Valery said with a chuckle after he explained a little more about himself. "The Outer Rim is another beast entirely. Though I'm sure it had its benefits too — the harsh reality out there can really prepare you for the tougher things Jedi deal with." Whether that's the crime gangs that ruled the underworld, the lying and political games, or just basic survival, the Outer Rim tested you on everything.

Especially if you're a Jedi.

Valery's gaze then shifted from her instruments back to Kellen, when he danced around a touchy subject, "Well, during my time before stasis, the Coruscant Temple was still sacked by the old Sith Empire. The Order was mostly located on Tython at the time, but I was part of a smaller Enclave located on New Cov. Perhaps a strange place to be — it's one of the most lethal jungles in the Galaxy."

"But the Jedi there learned how to tame the jungles, so our Temple in the mountains was quite safe."
She smiled a little as memories resurfaced, but the sound of her sensors pinging caught her attention.

"Seems we got something."
