SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Uses magnetic acceleration to launch incendiary projectiles at extremely high velocity dealing extremely massive kinetic damage to its target before the delayed-ignition incendiary is triggered upon impact, resulting in a terrific burning effect with temperatures in excess of 3,000 standard degrees. Producing full-thickness and partial-thickness burns, continuing to burn even without oxygen (as underwater, in space, etc.) and prolonged exposure can see absorption through the skin, resulting in damage to internal organs such as liver, kidneys, and heart. This two-fold damage can also have extensive effect on inorganic targets, able to burn through most metals, plastics, etc. and ignite flammable materials upon the incendiary’s contacting them.
  • Magnetic acceleration allows for greater-than-average range and accuracy without increase to recoil, making the Fire Breather a solid choice for combat missions where precision targeting and limited collateral damage or traceability is emphasized.
  • A secondary damage-type found with this weapon includes smoke damage such as irritation of eyes, mucous membranes of the nose, and respiratory tract, and in enclosed spaces can result in asphyxiation and permanent respiratory illness/damage, 0.0007 mg/m[SUP]3[/SUP], equal to mustard gas or similar toxic gases.
  • Likewise, the effects of this weapons can include dense, hot white smoke clouds which can obscure vision, consisting mostly of aerosol form of the primary chemical. These clouds can, if enough rounds detonate in a limited space, able to mask friendlies’ movements position from affected enemies, frustrating infrared signatures, and blocking light temporarily until the smoke dissipates.
  • Included pinpoint multi-optic scope offers enhanced vision and improves accuracy, enabling night-vision, thermal imaging, and ultrasonic sensors, as well as image enhancement and magnification, akin to an electromonocular.
  • Included bipod is made from condensed matter composite to reduce vibrations and provide a stable, steady platform for sustained fire, improving accuracy.
  • Magnatomic adhesion grip prevents easy disarmament by enemies or droppage by users.
  • Genetic Code, Retinal (scope), and dermatoglyphic verification prevents use by unauthorized beings.
STRENGTHS:
  • Powerful Isn’t the Word: The Fire Breather isn’t a light weapon. It’s not to be taken lightly either. It’s ability to deal massive damage against its targets and the added benefit of providing a dense smokescreen when needed make it a potent addition to any squad or fire team. From laying down suppressing fire to neutralizing armored foes, even vehicles, and dishing out multi-fold damage against materiel, the Fire Breather is a solid choice every time, any time, all the time!
  • Like Threading a Needle: Terrific accuracy, excellent long-range firepower, and precision targeting optics make the Fire Breather more than your typical ‘spray-and-pray’ weapons, allowing users to focus its awesome destructive capabilities when and where they will do the most damage, and reducing the likelihood of stay rounds or missed targets.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Only One Thing Will Do the Trick: The Fire Breather can only use Basiliskan munitions, and unlike other weapons of the same kind, such as Verpine Shutter Guns able to use multicaliber magazines, it is incompatible with other types of munitions.
  • Not for Lightweights: The Fire Breather isn’t a lightweight weapon, and its sturdy build, weight, and heft require its use be confined only to larger species and beings, or those using strength-enhancements such as cybernetics, powered armors, etc.
  • When It’s Out, It’s Out: The Fire Breather is a projectile weapon, and its heavy drum magazine can only hold 500 rounds. This might sound like a lot, but at automatic firing rates, it’s pretty easy to go the magazine quickly, exhausting it in just under a minute through non-stop firing. Without spare magazines, the weapon becomes useless (save maybe for one heck of a club!).
DESCRIPTION
Have you ever just wanted to smoke the whole room? Well, now you can do just that, and even more! The Fire Breather is able to strike hard – almost ridiculously hard – and lay down an impressive wall of metal and fire and smoke in a very short amount of time, all with deadly accuracy.​
The Fire Breather offers massive-scale damage, including incredible kinetic and thermal damage, together with potential secondary chemical damage, to provide immense stopping power. Yet, limits this awesome strike to within a single meter (although the smoke effect may extend to a wider area), making it ideal for use in close-in engagements or where concern for collateral damage is high. Accurate, stable, and having exceptional long-range precision capability, the Fire Breather combines the elegance and discernment of a sniper rifle with the potency and versatility of more conventional heavy weapons.​
Using the same magnetic acceleration technology as found in a Verpine Shatter Gun for a smooth, low-recoil but rapid firing rate, range, and accuracy, the Fire Breather also combines the super-heated weapons capacity of a flame rifle or flamethrower. The heat of the munitions used can ignite flammable materials upon contact, burn through most conventional metals and other inorganic substances, and even penetrate armor systems with relative ease and exceptional results, and very few materials or armor are tough enough to stop it. While such materials might exists, there is also the matter of the incendiary effects of inhalation and irritation, the smokescreen effects which obscure vision, stifle infrared capability, and make breathing difficult, particular in closed areas. In more open areas, these effects are lessened, and there are still some materials that even the Fire Breather may have trouble dealing with. When several shots are placed in a tight group, the smoke effects can be increased and compounded, increasing the likelihood of effectiveness.​
Tough as nails, able to be used in all weather, and even fired underwater thanks to the magnetic technologies used, the Fire Breather is as tough as any user. Still, however, it’s quiet, and with above-average magazine capacity, it provides a lot of firepower when and where it’s needed most. Be careful however, as fully-automatic non-stop firing can quickly exhaust the magazine, and due to its specialized ammunition requirement, without spare magazines becomes essentially nothing more than a very heavy, very expensive club.​
