PRODUCTION INFORMATION
Market Status: Closed-Market
Model Name: Basiliskan Incendiary Rounds
Modularity: None
Production: Limited
Material(s):
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Classification: Projectile / Incendiary
Size: Small
Weight: Very Heavy
Explosive Type: Chemical
Delivery Method: Launched (Magnetic Acceleration)
Effective Range: Long-Range
Area Of Effect: Personal (<1m)
Damage Output: Extreme
SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Uses magnetic acceleration to launch incendiary projectiles at extremely high velocity dealing extremely massive kinetic damage to its target before the delayed-ignition incendiary is triggered upon impact, resulting in a terrific burning effect with temperatures in excess of 3,000 standard degrees. Producing full-thickness and partial-thickness burns, continuing to burn even without oxygen (as underwater, in space, etc.) and prolonged exposure can see absorption through the skin, resulting in damage to internal organs such as liver, kidneys, and heart. This two-fold damage can also have extensive effect on inorganic targets, able to burn through most metals, plastics, etc. and ignite flammable materials upon the incendiary’s contacting them.
  • Magnetic acceleration allows for greater-than-average range and accuracy without increase to recoil, making the Fire Breather a solid choice for combat missions where precision targeting and limited collateral damage or traceability is emphasized.
  • A secondary damage-type found with this weapon includes smoke damage such as irritation of eyes, mucous membranes of the nose, and respiratory tract, and in enclosed spaces can result in asphyxiation and permanent respiratory illness/damage, 0.0007 mg/m[SUP]3[/SUP], equal to mustard gas or similar toxic gases.
  • Likewise, the effects of this weapons can include dense, hot white smoke clouds which can obscure vision, consisting mostly of aerosol form of the primary chemical. These clouds can, if enough rounds detonate in a limited space, able to mask friendlies’ movements position from affected enemies, frustrating infrared signatures, and blocking light temporarily until the smoke dissipates.
STRENGTHS:
  • One-Two Punch: Massive kinetic damage and powerful incendiary damage combine to make the Basiliskan rounds a devastating munition, and the effects of the smoke they expel only increases their effectiveness in combat scenarios.
  • Stop This, Space Wizard: Small sized rounds are difficult – if not impossible – for blocking using lightsabers. Like the projectiles of the Verpine Shatter Gun, they are intensely hard to block, even for trained Jedi or Sith warriors with their Force-enhanced reflexes.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Not for Area: The small area of effect confines the munitions’ effects to less than one meter. Smaller in size than other rounds, the shells will only have immediate effect against whatever they strike and lack the widespread damage found in other similar types of munitions.
  • Don’t Get Too Close: The inhalation / irritant damage caused by these rounds, as well as the limited smokescreen effects, can affect anyone too close to the target. Users do not want to use this weapon close-in, as it may place them within the affected area and make them vulnerable.
  • Only Way to Go: Basiliskan rounds are specifically designed for use in the Fire Breather SHAW, and aren’t able to be used in any other weapon platform.
DESCRIPTION
Combining the devastating kinetic effects and smooth reliability, range, and accuracy offered by the Verpine Shatter Guns with the equally devastating effects of flamethrowers, the Basiliskan Incendiary Round allows users to make pinpoint, precision strikes against targets that offer terrific kinetic and thermal destructive potential, backed by chemical damage. Further, they can produce dense smokescreen effects capable of masking friendly movements and locations from detection, frustrating infrared sensors, and obscuring light. These effects, taken together, offer the best mixture of offensive and defensive capabilities.
Basiliskan rounds are small, making them all but impossible to be blocked by lightsaber-type weapons, similarly to the projectiles of the Verpine Shadow Gun. The intense heat of the rounds is capable of igniting flammable materials, burning through most conventional metals and materials, and can be next-to-impossible to extinguish, even continuing to burn underwater. The limited area of effect makes the Basiliskan excellent for use in closed areas and avoiding collateral damages. So while they can’t ‘torch’ an area, like a flamethrower, their controlled effects, limited area, and precision accuracy make them ideal for providing that heavy ‘punch’ needed by special operations teams.
