Faction Feast of Shadows || SO Friends and Allies

Feast-Title.png

Thyferra belonged to the Sith. The High Republic had been driven from the bacta world, its positions broken and its hold over the alazhi fields severed. Refineries that had supplied one war machine now supplied another, Imperial vessels occupied the skies, and Sith forces had settled comfortably into the territory they had taken. There would be time enough for reconstruction, consolidation, and whatever came next. For one night, victory was reason enough to do something considerably less practical with the spoils.

The Feast of Shadows spread across one of Thyferra's captured agricultural estates like a carnival that had arrived several centuries too late and decided to stay anyway. Crimson lanterns hung between harvesting towers while striped tents and temporary stalls crowded the grounds below. Music carried over the fields alongside the smell of roasting meats, spiced drinks, smoke, and sweets imported from half a dozen worlds. Performers worked the midway beneath glowing signs, games promised prizes of increasingly questionable value, and a massive observation wheel turned slowly above it all with its passenger cars illuminated red against the night.

Costumes were encouraged, masks almost expected. Ancient Sith, infamous monsters, fallen Jedi, dead emperors, and exaggerated versions of living Sith wandered the grounds together while the identities beneath some disguises remained deliberately unclear. Nobody had forbidden anyone from arriving dressed as a member of the Dark Council. Common sense was expected to handle what regulations did not.

At the center of the carnival waited.

The Black Masquerade, though there was little formal about it. Music, drinking, dancing, costumes, and the usual collection of conversations that became much more interesting once people stopped pretending Sith gatherings were ever entirely social filled the open pavilion. Those interested in judging one another more openly could enter the costume competition, while everyone else was free to enjoy the spectacle or become part of it.

Those looking for something darker could leave the lights of the carnival behind and enter the Haunted Halls. A section of the estate had been converted into a winding passage of Sith relics, illusions, alchemical displays, spectral projections, and carefully arranged scares. The organizers insisted everything within had been planned. They were considerably less convincing when asked why several sealed doors had begun opening on their own before the attraction officially started.

The final diversion was Tribute or Torment, a tradition invented specifically for the evening and already being treated as though the Sith had observed it for centuries. Guests could move among participating stalls and chambers demanding tribute in the form of sweets, drinks, small prizes, favors, or curiosities. Those who refused were expected to accept a harmless torment in return, which left considerable room for interpretation among Sith.

Nothing about the Feast of Shadows was intended to become another battle for Thyferra. The weapons were supposed to stay mostly sheathed, the creatures were supposed to remain where they had been placed, and whatever wandered the Haunted Halls was supposed to be part of the attraction.

Supposed to be.

For tonight, however, the battered world belonged to the victorious, the carnival was open, and the shadows were invited too.

BM.png
At the heart of the Feast of Shadows, the Black Masquerade offers everything expected of a Sith celebration with considerably less concern for restraint. Music, drinking, dancing, costumes, and masked identities fill the open pavilion while guests mingle beneath crimson lights and the glow of the carnival beyond. A costume competition gives anyone looking for attention an excuse to make an entrance, while everyone else is free to socialize, scheme, flirt, provoke, or simply enjoy the spectacle.

HH.png
Those willing to leave the noise and lights of the midway behind can enter the Haunted Halls, a winding section of the estate transformed with Sith relics, illusions, alchemical displays, spectral projections, and carefully staged scares. The attraction was designed to feel unsettling without becoming genuinely dangerous, though several sealed doors have already begun opening on their own and some of the figures seen moving through the corridors do not appear on any of the organizers' plans.

TT.png
Tribute or Torment turns the carnival itself into a game as guests move between stalls, chambers, and participating hosts demanding tribute in the form of sweets, drinks, favors, small prizes, or strange curiosities. Those unwilling to pay are expected to accept a torment in return, whether that means a prank, challenge, dare, or some other inconvenience devised on the spot. The rules are intentionally loose, which is probably the only way a Sith tradition invented earlier that evening was ever going to work.

Victory had a different taste when you'd helped bake the cake, Lysander mused, even if all you'd done was grease the pan. Thyferra was Sith territory now, mud on his boots or not. The comparison to Abregado-rae nagged at him. Less rubble, fewer ghosts. Considerably better catering. Maybe all that time spent putting himself back together was finally done.

Music swelled from the pavilion ahead. Lysander fell into step alongside Lily. Their family tree was less a tree and more a thicket of exiles, murderers, and obligations. So of course they'd end up here. The irony was practically a family heirloom. And honestly? It was also nice to see the Sith actually.. relaxing. No one was shouting into a comm. Tonight's emergency might actually be a shortage of good wine.

It'd been months since he wore something tasteful without making it boring. A pale formal shirt sat beneath a black waistcoat, while a long black coat fell from his shoulders. A silver chain caught the nearby light beneath a high collar. Black trousers disappeared into boots.

Eventually, Lysander glanced toward his cousin. Bits of their conversation back on Throneworld had stayed with him. A smile touched one corner of his mouth. "You know, with all the nonsense our family seems to collect, I'm glad you got out of it," he said with a tilt of his hand, "Well.. not out of it, exactly. Nobody really gets out of this family. We're just good at increasing the distance while kinda hoping the signal drops. What I really mean is, you found something that belonged to you before everyone else could tell you what it was supposed to be. I think that counts for something."

They passed beneath the pavilion's dark archway, and Lysander gave her a once over. "Alright, Lily. I'll give you this one. The dress, the mask.. annoyingly well done. Try not to look so surprised when everyone else notices too."

The mask might've hidden some of his expression, but amusement warmed the Sith's voice. "If you end up being a complete pain in the ass, or if things go sideways because someone spilled wine near us and I have to stab them, that's pretty acceptable too. Preferable, maybe. At least stabbing makes it clear the relationship has changed, right? Clear social rules and all that." One shoulder rolled into a shrug. "Besides, nobody ever stabs someone and then spends twenty something minutes wondering whether they should send a follow up message."

Taiia had not dressed for the Sith before dark colors, yes. Formal occasions, certainly. She knew how to present herself, how to look composed, elegant, and entirely unbothered while the room decided what to make of her. But this was something else entirely. Not simply a gala nor a masquerade. It was a celebration built on conquest, draped over a world that still bled beneath it, one that she had previously helped Allyson fight Darth Prazutis Darth Prazutis on. Crimson lanterns and music did not change that. They only made the contradiction prettier.

Black and deep crimson fell around her in layered silks; the gown fitted close through the waist and torso before descending into darker folds that moved easily with each step. A long slit revealed one leg without turning the look into something crass, while the red beneath the black gave the impression of embers hidden under shadow. The gold had been kept restrained, enough to catch the light here and there, but not so much that it overpowered the rest. A mask of red lace and black filigree framed her eyes without hiding too much of her face, leaving the sharp lines of her cheeks and the pointed ears visible. Her hair had been left softer than usual, drawn partially back but allowed to fall more freely in red waves over her shoulders and down her back.

Taiia stood beside Allyson for a moment before they entered, her gaze lingering on her wife instead of the estate ahead. The black suit looked exactly as it always did on her; sharp, dangerous, effortless. Allyson wore it the way some people wore armor, though Taiia thought that comparison unfair to armor. Beskar had never once looked that good.

A faint smile touched her mouth behind the mask. "You look beautiful as always," she said softly, her tone touched with quiet amusement. "I am still not quite sure how you managed to talk me into this."

She offered her arm and turned her attention toward the estate. The agricultural grounds had been transformed into something else entirely. Crimson lanterns burned between towers, casting warm pools of red-gold light across walkways crowded with masked guests, performers, and temporary stalls. Music drifted through the evening air, woven through with laughter, smoke, a variety of food, and the constant low hum of a celebration populated almost entirely by people who could turn dangerous without warning. Beyond the midway and carnival lights, the masquerade spilled across the open pavilion in rich fabrics, candlelight, polished black surfaces, and moving silhouettes. Figures in masks and extravagant costumes crossed beneath the glow of hanging lights like pieces on a dejarik board, some theatrical, some beautiful, some unsettling enough to be both.

It was all lavish enough to distract from what the place had been before Taiia could still feel Thyferra beneath it all in the knowledge of what had happened here, and in the simple fact that a Sith celebration could only ever be built on the bones of something else.

Her hand settled lightly against her wife's arm as they began to walk, the contact easy and familiar. She could feel people noticing them already. Some because of the event, some because of the woman beside her, and some because Taiia had made no particular effort to disappear into the background tonight. She had dressed to fit the masquerade, yes, but not to vanish inside it. If anything, she had allowed herself just enough indulgence to stand out just a touch.

Her mouth curved slightly. "I have to admit," she said, voice quieter now as they passed beneath the lantern light and into the heart of the festivities, "for a Sith celebration, this is almost charming." Taiia turned her head just enough to glance at Allyson again, the softer warmth in her expression visible despite the mask. She let her gaze drift out across the carnival again, taking in the observation wheel turning slowly against the night, the movement of masked figures through candlelight, and the darker invitation of the estate beyond it all.

The music was good.

That was Vess's first impression of the Black Masquerade, and a considerably more favorable one than she'd expected to have of a Sith celebration. She'd come to Thyferra knowing perfectly well whose victory everyone was celebrating. That didn't mean she couldn't appreciate a good party. Or the opportunity to wander through a place full of people who had spent considerable effort making themselves difficult to recognize. The carnival beyond the pavilion had been entertaining enough, with plenty of expensive-looking distractions to keep a thief occupied for hours. Vess had resisted the temptation to test any of them. So far.

For the occasion, she'd traded her usual working clothes for something considerably more deliberate. Fitted black trousers hugged the lines of her legs before disappearing into knee-high, heeled boots, while a tailored black bodice featured a plunging neckline and a fitted waist. Over it, she wore a sharply tailored coat with structured shoulders, a high collar, and deep crimson lining that flashed beneath its split tails as she moved. A pair of slender belts rested at her waist and hips, their gunmetal buckles complementing the understated hardware of her outfit. Long black gloves completed the ensemble, while her dark brown hair had been gathered into an exceptionally high ponytail, its length cascading down her back.

An angular ivory mask concealed the upper half of her face, its surface marked by delicate circuitry that caught the crimson light when she turned her head. It was a costume, certainly, but not much of a disguise for anyone who knew her.

Ahead of her, Vess caught sight of two familiar figures making their way into the pavilion. Taiia was rather difficult to miss, particularly dressed for the occasion, while the woman accompanying her was considerably easier to recognize. Allyson Locke Allyson Locke had apparently decided that her usual black suit was perfectly suitable for a masquerade.

She considered catching up with them, but decided against it. They had their evening, and she had hers. Besides, she suspected Allyson would appreciate enjoying herself without her totally-not-a-padawan hovering and needing someone to keep an eye on her. A small smile tugged at the corner of her mouth.

Two guests lingered near the pavilion's entrance, apparently occupied with a conversation of their own. ( Lysander von Ascania Lysander von Ascania & Lily Rhodes Lily Rhodes ) Vess paid them little attention beyond the momentary inconvenience of finding a path around them. There was room enough to pass, though the opportunity to practice something she'd been working on was considerably more interesting.

A subtle application of the Force followed, not quite invisibility and certainly nothing so crude as compelling anyone to look away. She simply encouraged their attention to find something more interesting than another masked woman approaching the festivities. The music, the passing guests, the crimson lanterns overhead. Plenty of distractions to work with, and only the smallest suggestion that she belonged among them.

Whether either stranger noticed the attempted misdirection was another matter entirely. Vess slipped past at an unhurried pace, the faintest hint of a crooked smile touching her lips beneath the ivory mask. There was something rather satisfying about using a technique meant for serious infiltration to accomplish something as thoroughly unnecessary as entering a party.

The music grew louder as she passed beneath the archway, and whatever interest she'd had in the little experiment was promptly replaced by the prospect of a good evening. A server passed with a tray of drinks. Vess relieved them of one with a murmured thanks, lifting the glass for an experimental sip.

Not bad.

She'd had worse for considerably more credits. Her attention drifted toward the dance floor, following the rhythm of the music. For a moment, one foot tapped along before she caught herself doing it. The little smile returned anyway.

Used to Vess might have kept close to the walls, counted the exits, and spent the evening wondering how quickly she could disappear. She'd already counted the exits, naturally. The difference was that she wasn't particularly worried about needing them. Vess took another sip of her drink and continued into the gathering, unhurried, her gaze occasionally catching on a familiar silhouette or something that looked expensive enough to warrant a second glance.

She hadn't come looking for trouble, but she'd never been particularly good at ignoring something interesting, either.

As ever, Darth Strosius found Himself unamused by the festivities that had been deemed a necessity on Thyferra. The efforts to rebuild and restore the world to some functioning state were still well underway and yet it was still to be the host of this...event regardless. To celebrate a victory that was barely worth calling pyrrhic seemed a tad in poor taste, but of course His insights were neither sought nor certainly would they have been heeded even if they were and thus the carnival was as it was.

As the crowds mingled in their masquerade, perhaps the most honest that many of them would be given that they were openly wearing the guises of another rather than silently doing so, and offering sweets and refreshments for those bold enough to demand them though He found Himself instinctively moving to the more secluded event of the night. The so called "Haunted Halls" were meant to be something of a tourist attraction, simply another feature of entertainment for the night, yet already He could sense a palpable tension in the air.

Within the winding and confusing layout there was a stillness that couldn't be planned or intended, one that heralded unexpected and genuine uncertainty rather than something that could be manufactured with actors and some hastily cobbled together trickery. Though Darth Strosius didn't care much for ascertaining the source of such a discrepancy of course. He was far more interested in the relics and displays that served as landmarks within the Haunted Halls.

Ideally amidst the confusion, both intentional and not, He could find the opportunity to swipe some of the more interesting ones. For the moment though He simply wandered with a datapad in hand and noted down the displays and relics of interest that He passed with His careful stride. Idly making a mental list alongside His writings for the most vulnerable and unique targets among them.

There was something refreshing about shedding the weight of duty, even if only for an evening. The responsibilities of Mandalore were never truly far from his thoughts, but tonight was an opportunity to relax, enjoy himself, and perhaps remember what it felt like to simply exist without the weight of an entire world resting upon his shoulders.

Dressed in a finely tailored dark suit with subtle crimson accents, Artorious entered the Black Masquerade with an easy going expression. A simple black mask concealed a portion of his features, though anyone familiar with him would likely recognize him. His attire was nothing extravagant, but enough to impress perhaps someone.

His gaze wandered across the pavilion, taking in the decorations, music, and assortment of guests. Several familiar faces caught his attention, alongside others he had yet to meet. He offered the occasional respectful nod, content to observe the festivities for the moment. Of course, old habits were difficult to abandon. Even without his armor, Artorious remained quietly attentive to his surroundings. He didn't expect trouble, but he would be ready to lend a hand if needed. Until then, there was no reason not to enjoy himself.

As a server passed nearby, Artorious politely raised a hand to catch their attention. "Excuse me, if you wouldn't mind." He offered a grateful nod before selecting a glass of whiskey from the tray. "Much appreciated."

Taking a sip, he allowed himself a small smile as he turned his attention toward the festivities once more. Perhaps he would find a familiar face to catch up with, make a few new acquaintances, or simply enjoy whatever entertainment the evening had to offer.

For tonight, at least, he intended to have a little fun.

Nysa stood at the edge of the ballroom, watching the dancers move beneath the chandeliers with big fat candles dripping a black wax. One hand held a glass of green, smoking punch. There were all sorts of creatures. Big beasts and smaller, more dangerous things. She wasn't really watching their dancing.

She was watching the Force move between them.

It curled around the room in little currents—warm around laughter, sharp around jealousy, strangely quiet around people pretending to be happy. A pattern woven through the air itself, striking discordang chords. Notes that would never be resolved and all the more beautiful for it.

A masked gentleman stopped beside her.

Nysa's dark green eyes like a midnight swamp flickered over to him. Then at his mask. Then slightly past him, as though listening to something only she could hear.

"You're very nervous."

A small pause, as her fingers lifted

"Oh. I'm sorry. I suppose that's a terrible thing to say to someone you've just met."

Her eyes drifted toward the dancers.

"It does that sometimes. People put masks over their faces and forget that the rest of them is still speaking."

She looked back at him.

"Your thoughts are very loud." Nysa's expression softened. "Not in an unpleasant way." She tilted her head. A ghost of a smile, tilting on whimsical. "Mine do that too." For a moment, she seemed distracted by something across the ballroom. "There's someone over there who's angry."

She pointed vaguely toward the crowd.

"And someone else is about to cry."

She lowered her hand, realizing it was probably rude to point.

"I don't think either of them knows yet."

Her gaze returned to her strange, masked companion.

"It's funny. Everyone here is pretending the masks make them mysterious." A tiny, almost apologetic smile.

"Would you like to dance?" She hesitated. "I should warn you, though. Sometimes I step on people's feet when I'm distracted by ghosts."

There was something rather charming about the entire affair.

Lyssara had wandered through the Haunted Halls at an unhurried pace, occasionally pausing beside one of the more elaborate displays. Some were rather convincing, others less so, though she supposed much of their appeal was lost upon someone who had never possessed eyes to begin with. The occasional shriek from an unfortunate visitor brought a faint smile to her lips, particularly when followed by the laughter of their companions.

The relics, however, were considerably more interesting. She lingered beside one such display, her attention resting upon the faint impressions left within the Force by whatever history the object possessed. Whether the organizers understood what they had placed among their decorations was another matter entirely; it would hardly be the first time someone had mistaken something dangerous that seemed benign.

There were others moving through the halls, of course. Some hurried along in search of the next carefully arranged fright, while others seemed more interested in the curiosities that had been gathered for the occasion. One presence in particular lingered near the displays, moving with a deliberate patience that distinguished him from the more excitable visitors. Lyssara gave him little more than a passing consideration. Her attention was elsewhere.

Something had been troubling the edges of her perception since she entered the attraction. Not quite a voice, nor anything she could readily identify as a spirit, but a faint disturbance beneath the overlapping impressions of the relics and the elaborate illusions. It was subtle enough that she might have dismissed it had she not been so intimately familiar with the peculiar ways the Force could behave around places touched by the dead. She tilted her head slightly, listening to something beyond the sounds of the festivities. Curious. One hand rose toward her black veil, her fingertips briefly brushing the embroidered silk Dathomiri symbols before falling away again. Whatever it was, it did not seem particularly interested in making itself known.

Lyssara smiled faintly. "Shy, are we?" The words were little more than a murmur, intended for no one in particular. Rather than pursuing the disturbance, she remained where she was, quietly contemplating the relic before her. There was no need to hurry. Whatever secrets the Haunted Halls possessed would reveal themselves in their own time, and Lyssara had always found patience considerably more rewarding of late.

Adelina took the black-gloved hand offered by Aidan Ares and allowed him to lead her up the stairs -- only so she didn't trip and make a fool of herself. It was a bit of a tricky thing to navigate stairs in a gown and high heels, after all. Once they reached the top, she separated her hand from his... much to his dismay. "This isn't a date," she reminded him as they entered the venue.

She did appreciate the invite (parties were one of her weaknesses), she was certainly not interested in Mr. Ares. In fact, she knew she'd be looking for a good excuse to ditch him as soon as she could get lost in the crowd. He'd been pursuing her since Spira, when she'd walked the runway during fashion week. He was well-connected, Adelina couldn't deny it, but he wasn't even a designer or even a photographer. His job was something boring. So boring, in fact, that she couldn't even remember what he did. But it didn't really matter.

Adelina hadn't had any interactions with the Sith, but she had nothing against them. In fact, she had agreed to come tonight in order to get to know them better. Her mother had once described them as 'garish' having attended a similar masquerade. As far as her mother's insults went, that was extremely mild. Despite their looks, Adelina and her mother had nothing in common. Lady Draco's energy was rather cold and calculating, where Adelina's was raw and unrefined.

As she gazed about, there was something about the ballroom that reminded her of home.

It was rare that she missed Entralla, or even thought about it, actually. How long had she been away now? A couple of years, she figured.

"This isn't a date... yet," said Mr. Ares with a snicker.

Adelina cut him a glance and a look that said, yeah... right.

Twang!

Shphreeeeeeeew!!

Thunk!!!

The arrow screamed as it released from the tightly drawn bowstring, the fletching creating a long, whistling cry as it sailed through the open air. It struck the target with a meaty impact, followed closely by a pained and agonized cry. The arrow had embedded itself deep, but not far enough to punch through to the other side. It struck bone somewhere along the way and stuck itself there. The figure lashed to the iron pole writhed and buckled at the latest intrusion, the rest of their body marked by earlier arrows that clung to them like quills.

Darth Carnifex watched silently, though internally He seethed monstrously. In the aftermath of Thyferra, the Empire had been able to apprehend many Republic soldiers that hadn't been able to evacuate in time. Carnifex had requisitioned those of least value, taking them under His authority and preparing them for this little game of His. They'd been stripped of their armor and left with only enough covering for modesty's sake, then they were bound to an iron pole at the end of a long rectangular courtyard. Participants would stand at the opposite end armed with traditional bows, firing arrows across the space into the living targets.

The objective? Whoever can kill their target with the most amount of arrows fired wins. This dissuaded them from seeking immediate kill-shots and prolonged the suffering of those who fought against the Empire. This single-minded, cruel spite was born of what He'd learned after the battle. The Empress had been wounded, grievously so, and it set alight a dark fire in the Dark Lord's belly. Though outwardly composed, internally He'd been more angered than He had been in a very, very long time. Nearby droids had buckled under their own weight in the presence of His subdued fury.

So this might have been petty, but the Dark Lord didn't care. No amount of suffering inflicted could ever measure up to an equivalent exchange for what had happened, but He'd have to make due with what He had. These soldiers weren't even the greatest prizes He'd managed to acquire, but they'd be saved for later. No sense in squandering all of His goodies at the start.

Black Masquerade (Bane of the Open Bar)

Kaela was well and truly out of place, at a fancy masquerade attended by the highest echelons of Sith and Mandalorian societies. She'd just heard: fancy party, open bar and managed to get herself onto a ship that had been headed to Thyferra with a suit that was expensive to her, but might as well have been the set of oil-stained shop clothes she'd be wearing when she'd gotten off of Aargonar two steps behind the pirates that had burned her home.

There was nobody here that
Kaela knew, or even felt she could talk to reasonably without someone asking, "Wait, who are you?" so instead she thought to plunder the open bar and enjoy liquor that cost as much per bottle as the entire town she'd been raised in, before it'd been burned. She'd already managed to fill a flask without anyone noticing with some bright blue liquor that seemed faintly luminescent, burned her throat, and left a minty aftertaste and a cooling effect.

She wasn't drunk yet, but
Kaela was hitting that level of inebriation where she was drunk enough to no longer feel all of her reservations, but still had enough of her faculties not to make a fool of herself. She started to scan the room, looking for someone to talk to, keeping her eyes peeled for someone who looked like they felt as out of place as she was, or someone who might be receptive to talking to someone who was so firmly on the bottom of the totem pole she might as well have been the dirt it was standing upon.

Varin had stepped into the room, locked loosely at the elbow with Seren at his side. His black suit neatly straightened and set to his figure while red trim offers a reprieve from a consistent single color. His mask resembling a creature that his people had worshipped since before even his father’s father and his fathers before him. A draconic being said to have devoured suns.

It too matched the colorings of his mask, and his burning gaze looked towards the many faces who also decided to conceal themselves. Then they found hers. Seren’s golden gaze visible through her mask drawing a soft smile from him.

Music filled the air, noticeable but not oppressive adding to the background ambience of conversation and the scent of various foods while servants walked around carrying trays of small delights and various wines.

The two seemed to move in near unison as they made their way in. Varin’s figure towering over most that came in attendance.

He had noticed that some had already quickly indulged in the drinks. It was a celebration afterall, and indulgence was encouraged at these events. He paid no heed to it.

“It is already shaping up to be an interesting night I see.”

His hand gently grazed her arm as he slowly reached for her with his free hand.

His eyes appraising the woman who had been with him since the near start. From wandering planets in search of ancient secrets to now the Sith General of the Sith Covenant. She had been a pillar for him and a constant presence for him. His closest treasure.

His hand slowly withdrew as he plucked a glass of wine from a passing servant, taking a slow sip from the glass.

He was not very much into wine drinking, in fact his palette was very amateur. But the wine he had plucked had a sweetness that he quite quickly grew fond of.

“Hmm, what would you say of this?”

He offered the glass over to her.

Kaelen had been hearing about the Feast of Shadows for a while now.

Ever since Thyferra fell, there had been talk about the celebration that would follow. A carnival, the masquerade, games, drinking, and whatever else the Sith had decided to throw together for the occasion.
From what he'd heard, Kaelen expected it to be big.

Stepping into the Black Masquerade, he found that the rumors hadn't been far off. Crimson lights hung above the crowd while music played through the pavilion, with masked guests moving between tables and drinks being passed around.

Kaelen was dressed in a dark formal coat with a few crimson accents, a black mask covering the upper half of his face. He took a drink from a passing server and looked around, taking in the people and costumes scattered throughout the room.
A small smirk crossed his face as he looked toward the carnival outside.

"Not bad."

His eyes briefly caught on a few faces as he moved through the area, though he didn't make any effort to approach them. There was plenty of time for that.
For now, Kaelen was content to see what the night brought him.

The music changed as he moved farther into the gathering, and his attention was drawn toward the dance floor for a moment. He watched a few of the masked guests before taking another drink.

Leaving this open incase anyone wants to say Hi :)

Objective I: The Black Masquerade
Location: Feast of Shadows, Thyferra
Interacting With: Siv Kryze Siv Kryze

The crimson lights of the Feast of Shadows stretched across Thyferra's captured estate, illuminating a spectacle Veyla might have found impressive under different circumstances. Harvesting towers had become lantern supports, temporary stalls crowded the grounds, and music drifted through the warm evening air alongside the scents of unfamiliar food and expensive alcohol. Above everything, an enormous observation wheel revolved against the night sky. The Sith apparently knew how to celebrate a victory, although Veyla suspected their definition of entertainment might differ considerably from her own.

She dressed for the occasion, though not in the elaborate costumes many wore while wandering the grounds. Her Warden-Type beskar'gam was a formal variation of the armor she ordinarily wore, its polished black plates accented with crimson detailing and the insignia of House Kryze displayed upon her shoulder. Dark shell-spidersilk fell in carefully arranged layers beneath the armor, lending the ensemble an elegance her usual battlefield equipment was never meant to have. The result was unmistakably Mandalorian, even among the extravagantly dressed Sith. Her helmet completed the ensemble, although she carried it beneath one arm for the moment, leaving her fiery red hair and emerald eyes visible.

Something faintly amusing about attending a Sith masquerade without disguising herself as anything. Perhaps that was the point. She had spent enough of her life deciding who she wanted to be without borrowing somebody else's identity for an evening. Besides, she rather liked the armor, even if the formal tailoring was considerably different from what she normally wore.

Her attention shifted toward Siv as they approached the Black Masquerade. "I have to admit, when you mentioned a celebration, I wasn't expecting something quite this elaborate." A small smile accompanied the observation as she glanced toward the costumed figures moving beneath the pavilion's crimson lights. "Although I suppose inviting the Sith to dress as monsters is one way to make it difficult to tell who's who."

She wasn't particularly concerned about their presence. The developing relationship between Mandalore and the Sith had already made her reconsider some of her earlier assumptions, and she had no intention of spending the entire evening searching for trouble that might never materialize. Still, the knowledge that they were celebrating the conquest of a Republic world lingered at the back of her mind. Enjoying the festivities didn't require her to forget where they were or why everyone had gathered.

For tonight, however, she intended to make the most of the invitation. Veyla looked toward the music and the gathering beneath the pavilion, curiosity beginning to outweigh her reservations. "So, are we going to find something to drink first, or should we see just how seriously they're taking this costume competition?" Her smile broadened slightly. "Because I think we could make a respectable showing without having to pretend we're dead Sith emperors."
