Quality of Life Features
- Small Interface Settings Panel: At the rear of the weapon, above the grip, there is a small interface panel that informs the user of remaining power and allows the user to switch sonic frequencies to accommodate for various lifeforms. Additionally, this panel allows the user to switch between blast and stun modes.
- Identification System (Bio-Lock): Built into the grip is a bio-lock, meaning that only

and any designated individuals may access and use the weapon.
- Textured Grip: The grip is textured to improve handling, a necessity to help balance out the weapon.
- Hair Trigger: The weapon is equipped with a hair trigger, for better control.
- Lightweight Material: Constructed out of Duravlex, Agrinium and Plasteel, the weapon is as lightweight as possible, considering the size.
- Weighted: The rear of the weapon is slightly weighted to compensate for the front-heavy barrel of the sidearm.
- Energy Suppression Chamber: Surrounding the barrel is a suppression chamber that captures and dissipates excess energy used when firing the weapon. This does affect the recoil, however the weapon is quieter as a result. This does not render the weapon silent however, just quiet. The noise of the travelling sonic rounds are not affected by this.
- White Colour Crystal: Upon being fired, the weapon emits white sonic projectiles. Sonic blast bolts take the form of a sharp white needle whereas stun bolts take the form of a white circle.
- ElectroMag Defense Unit: The weapon is installed with a MIL-GRADE ElectroMag Defense Unit, provided by Nakaioma. This device protects the weapons from electromagnetic pulse attacks.
- Cautionary Pulser: The weapon is equipped with a cautionary pulser which vibrates once the weapon is low on power.
- Autosteady Gyro-Gimbal: Below the barrel, an Autosteady gyro-gimbal is installed within the weapon. This is used to assist in balancing the weapon to improve handling, therefore mitigating the front-heavy nature of the weapon.
- SUPPRESSED: As a result of the Energy Suppression Chamber, the sidearm produces a quieter sound than regular sonic weapons. This does not render the weapon silent however, just quiet.
- DEADLY: As a trade-off for capacity, the weapon uses a large portion of the power pack for power and damage improvement. The sonic blast mode uses significantly more energy than the sonic stun mode, however. Upon being fired in the blast mode, a deadly sharp white needle of sonic energy is produced.
- BALANCED: Due to the weighted rear of the weapon and the gyro-gimbal, the weapon is well-balanced considering the weapon appears to be front heavy. As a result, the weight of the weapon can be considered average due to the optimal balancing of the sidearm.
- EMP PROTECTION: The sidearm is installed with a MIL-GRADE ElectroMag Defense Unit, which is designed to protect the weapon against EMP attacks.
- RATE OF FIRE: After being fired, around half a second is required before another shot can be fired to allow the chamber to recharge. Simply meaning that the weapon is incapable of automatic fire.
- LENGTH & THICKNESS: Due to the unusual shape of the weapon, specialised holsters are required to store the weapon. The barrel is thick to accommodate for the number of components and microelectronics, as well as long. The weapon would be quite front heavy should the weights and gyro-gimbal be removed.
- EXPENSIVE REPAIRS: Due to the amount of electronics and exclusivity of the weapon, it can be quite costly to repair. Upon being damaged, unessential components can be removed and the weapon can still be used, yet issues may occur depending on what is removed.
- CAPACITY: Compared to other weapons such as blasters, the sidearm has a limited capacity per power pack which slides into the grip. The power pack can support around 50 shots of sonic blasts and around 75 sonic stun shots.
- MITIGATION: Certain items can mitigate the effect of the weapon. A lightsaber may deflect parts of the sonic shot yet it will wrap around the lightsaber and parts of the shot may still hit the individual. Anti-sonic-specific attire may also dissipate the effect of contact with the shot.
- AUDIBLE: Although the sound produced from the sidearm is significantly reduced, the sidearm is still slightly audible upon being fired. A quiet whine is produced by the weapon when fired and can be heard from a maximum of 5 meters away.
The direct successor and replacement to Marcy's suppressed blaster pistol, the FDS-MF Heavy Sonic Needler is perfectly configured for her use. As a result of access to better and higher quality resources, Marcella could afford to move away from blasters into sonic weaponry to accommodate her interest in combating not only hostile gun-wielding individuals but force users too.
Additionally, the weapon is designed to accommodate and assist in espionage operations, meaning that the sidearm is designed to be reliable and utilitarian; with this in mind, the weapon is specifically built to be quiet to support its purpose and contains a number of electronics and features.
The majority of the electronics are placed around the barrel which also acts as a suppression chamber to keep the weapon as quiet as possible. This makes the weapon's barrel particularly thick and long, making it look front-heavy; this is offset by both weights and a gyro-gimbal which balances the weapon out, significantly improving handling.
Although the suppression chamber does an excellent job at dissipating excess energy from each shot, the weapon can be heard within a five meter radius when fired. Both sonic blast and sonic stun rounds, however, produce their own unique sound, with the sonic blast producing a quiet whine and sonic stun producing a shaky whirr. The suppression chamber does not affect the noise produced by the rounds, only the audio produced by the discharge of the weapon is reduced.
As the weapon is an exclusive, high-end system, it contains a Nakaioma ElectroMag Defence Unit which is installed within the weapon and protects it from electromagnetic pulse attacks, a necessity for a weapon that requires a power-pack to operate.
