FAQ Questions & Answers

✦ Farworlds Alliance FAQ ✦

Have a question about the Farworlds Alliance? Ask here openly, message faction staff, or join the Discord if you would rather talk things through there.

What is the Farworlds Alliance?
The Farworlds Alliance is a faction for frontier worlds, noble houses, settlements, refugees, explorers, defenders, diplomats, merchants, relief groups, and independent organizations working together beyond the Core.

The Farworlds Alliance is built around cooperation, sanctuary, mutual defense, protected trade, exploration, diplomacy, and stories set beneath distant stars.

The Farworlds Alliance is also a shared setting for writers of all walks. Friendly allies, uneasy neighbors, wandering crews, rival powers, criminal interests, hostile forces, and dangerous organizations are welcome to tell stories in and around Farworlds Alliance space.

We are narrative-forward, worldbuilding-focused, and open to IC conflict with meaningful consequences. The Unknown Regions are vast, strange, and unsettled; not every visitor comes in peace, and not every story needs to end neatly.

Where can I read more about the Farworlds Alliance?
You can start with the Farworlds Alliance About Page or browse the Farworlds Alliance Information Forum for the Charter, Assembly, member records, resources, Discord, and story hooks.

Who can write with the Farworlds Alliance?
Any writer and any character are welcome to participate in Farworlds Alliance stories. You do not need to sign the Farworlds Alliance Charter just to join threads, write in Farworlds Alliance space, or take part in faction plots.

Writers may bring allies, travelers, merchants, refugees, diplomats, explorers, Jedi, criminals, rivals, raiders, hostile agents, Sith, corporations, mercenary groups, or outside powers into Farworlds Alliance stories, as long as all writing follows site rules, writer consent, and fair storytelling.

Who can become an official Farworlds Alliance member?
Official Farworlds Alliance membership is for in-character groups, governments, organizations, and polities that want to sign the Farworlds Alliance Charter.

This can include worlds, settlements, noble houses, clans, companies, guilds, fleets, orders, temples, relief organizations, sub-factions, defense forces, and other organized groups with someone able to represent them in character.

What does official Farworlds Alliance membership mean?
Official Farworlds Alliance members are in-character Charter signatories. This means the group has formally joined the Farworlds Alliance through the Farworlds Alliance Charter.

Farworlds Alliance Charter signatories may hold a seat in the Farworlds Alliance Assembly, vote on Farworlds Alliance matters, request mutual defense or diplomatic support, and be listed as official members in Farworlds Alliance records.

Does my character need to be an official Farworlds Alliance member?
No. Individual characters do not need official Farworlds Alliance membership to write with the faction.

A character can join threads, visit Farworlds Alliance space, serve an official Farworlds Alliance member group, travel with Farworlds Alliance forces, oppose the Farworlds Alliance, negotiate with the Farworlds Alliance, or simply become involved through story.

Do I need to sign the Farworlds Alliance Charter to play here?
No. The Farworlds Alliance Charter is only required for groups that want official in-character membership within the Farworlds Alliance.

Signing the Farworlds Alliance Charter is not required for guests, allies, enemies, independent characters, visitors, contractors, outside factions, or writers who only want to join Farworlds Alliance stories.

Farworlds Alliance Charter signatories may hold a seat in the Farworlds Alliance Assembly, vote on Farworlds Alliance matters, and benefit from the protections, responsibilities, and agreements of the Farworlds Alliance Charter.

Where do I apply for official Farworlds Alliance membership?
Post a membership request using the Alliance Member Request template here:
Alliance Members

Is the Farworlds Alliance one government?
No. The Farworlds Alliance is a shared table, not a throne. Member worlds and groups keep their own rulers, laws, banners, cultures, fleets, guards, courts, stories, and internal affairs.

Official Farworlds Alliance membership means cooperation, not surrender.

What does official Farworlds Alliance membership give my group?
Official Farworlds Alliance members may gain representation, mutual defense support, diplomatic access, protected trade opportunities, shared story hooks, regional ties, and a clearer place within Farworlds Alliance records.

Official Farworlds Alliance members also gain a voice in the Farworlds Alliance Assembly.

What responsibilities come with official Farworlds Alliance membership?
Official Farworlds Alliance members agree to honor the Farworlds Alliance Charter, respect the sovereignty of other Farworlds Alliance members, avoid unprovoked aggression against fellow Farworlds Alliance members, and uphold the Farworlds Alliance stance against sentient slavery, trafficking, forced labor, debt bondage, and the sale of captive populations.

Official Farworlds Alliance membership is meant to create story ties, mutual defense, diplomacy, and shared responsibility. It does not erase a member group’s identity, leadership, culture, laws, or internal stories.

Do I need to be Light Side?
No. The Farworlds Alliance leans toward protection, sanctuary, and mutual defense, but members may have different traditions, beliefs, and politics.

Characters do not need to be Jedi, Light Side, noble, military, or heroic to write here.

Can independent characters join Farworlds Alliance stories?
Yes. Characters can join stories, serve a member organization, represent a group, travel with Farworlds Alliance forces, answer calls for aid, or become involved through faction threads.

Independent pilots, scouts, mercenaries, healers, Jedi, merchants, refugees, diplomats, soldiers, investigators, smugglers, mechanics, wanderers, and troublemakers all have room out here.

Where can I add my character to Farworlds Alliance records?
You can post your writer and character information here:
Player & Character Roster

Can hostile, criminal, Sith, or rival groups write here?
Yes. The Farworlds Alliance is not only for official members. Rival powers, criminal groups, hostile factions, raiders, Sith, corporations, spies, pirates, mercenaries, and other outside forces may write stories in and around Farworlds Alliance space.

IC conflict is welcome when it respects site rules, writer consent, and fair storytelling. Consequences, tension, diplomacy, betrayal, raids, investigations, uneasy bargains, and frontier trouble are all part of the setting.

What kinds of stories does the Farworlds Alliance write?
Exploration, diplomacy, rescue missions, anti-slavery stories, frontier defense, noble drama, monster hunts, trade disputes, ruins, lost colonies, missing ships, protected convoys, refugee relief, strange signals, border tension, and survival threads.

A story might be a council summit, a diplomatic feast, a slaver raid, a ruined beacon, a frontier settlement asking for help, or a small ship answering a call from the dark between stars.

Can I start a Farworlds Alliance thread?
Yes. You do not need permission to start a thread, invite writers, pitch a story, or use the Farworlds Alliance as a backdrop, as long as you respect site rules and other writers’ consent.

If you want help finding people, support, NPC opposition, allies, or ideas, use the Dispatch Mission Terminal / Story Hooks, Help & Suggestions Box.

Can I submit story ideas or ask for help?
Yes. Mission ideas, rescue hooks, diplomatic scenes, construction projects, defense requests, trade trouble, frontier problems, creature encounters, settlement needs, ruins, mysteries, and character-focused plots are all welcome.

Post them here:
Dispatch Mission Terminal / Story Hooks, Help & Suggestions Box

What is the Farworlds Alliance Assembly?
The Farworlds Alliance Assembly is the in-character place where official Farworlds Alliance members may bring concerns, disputes, requests, emergencies, proposals, and diplomatic matters before the Farworlds Alliance.

The Farworlds Alliance Assembly is meant for discussion, mediation, coordination, and story-building between members.

You can find it here:
Farworlds Alliance Assembly

Does the Farworlds Alliance Assembly control my world or group?
No. The Farworlds Alliance Assembly does not erase local rule or take over member groups. It gives official Farworlds Alliance members a place to speak, ask for help, settle disputes, and answer Farworlds Alliance matters together.

Can Farworlds Alliance member worlds disagree with each other?
Yes. Rivalries, trade disputes, political friction, border tension, noble arguments, and personal grudges can all make good stories.

The Farworlds Alliance asks official members to bring serious disputes to the Farworlds Alliance Assembly before they turn into open violence.

How does Farworlds Alliance military support work?
Official Farworlds Alliance members keep control of their own military forces. Joining the Farworlds Alliance does not give faction staff or another writer command over your ships, soldiers, knights, guards, patrols, or defense groups.

Farworlds Alliance military support is coordinated through story consent, writer communication, and in-character requests for aid.

What can Farworlds Alliance military support include?
Escorts, patrols, convoy protection, anti-piracy action, rescue missions, evacuation support, border defense, disaster response, investigations, security details, relief defense, or larger defense threads when members want to coordinate.

Can my group be friendly with the Farworlds Alliance without becoming an official member?
Yes. A group can be an ally, visitor, contractor, trade partner, relief partner, guest, or story participant without signing the Farworlds Alliance Charter as an official Farworlds Alliance member.

What is the Farworlds Alliance Manifest?
The Farworlds Alliance Manifest is a living record of the people, places, ships, companies, worlds, groups, resources, units, and permissions connected to the Farworlds Alliance.

The Farworlds Alliance Manifest helps writers find what exists, who owns it, and how it can be used in stories.

How do I add ships, companies, worlds, or Codex/Factory links to the Farworlds Alliance Manifest?
Post them in the Manifest Request section here:
Factory & Codex Resources

Please include the link, owner, type, and how it connects to the Farworlds Alliance.

Can I ask for help with Factory or Codex submissions?
Yes. You can ask for help polishing planets, locations, companies, ships, technology, species, organizations, units, resources, and related submissions here:
Factory & Codex Resources

Do I need to be very active to write with the Farworlds Alliance?
No. You can write casually, join one thread, or build a larger long-term presence.

Official Farworlds Alliance member groups are encouraged to stay reachable enough that other writers know who to contact for their worlds, houses, fleets, companies, or organizations.

I am new. Where should I start?
Start by joining an open thread, introducing your character, asking for a story hook, or posting interest in Discord.

You can also browse the Farworlds Alliance Information Forum, add yourself to the Player & Character Roster, or ask for a plot in the Mission Terminal.
