Hey baby bro - get ready for your planet to be spending more credits at the direction of the Republic. We need to meet up some time.

From time to time, Balun Dashiell had been required to visit the political heart of Naboo, the High Republic Senate, not for the experience of hearing them speak within the rotunda but rather more for personal meetings between himself and Auren Vellisar Auren Vellisar , who held office there, when his presence wasn't otherwise required on Jhaessa Prime. Not particularly well-versed in the political landscape himself, he saw it more as a need to represent the burgeoning trade world as it continued to grow in both influence and population.

Today, however, was not a day that he had envisioned a visit to the district until he had received his brother's holonet message.

"Hey, Kel. Uncle Mak's just messaged me. He's apparently in the senatorial district," Balun remarked as he and his Son rode in the back of a cab. This air-taxi had picked them up from Shiraya's Sanctuary, the Jedi Temple on Naboo and was taking them towards Theed City.

Kellan Dashiell Kellan Dashiell 's gaze was immediately pulled away from the window view as he turned and glanced up at his father, the four-year-old hybrid's eyes lighting up at the chance to see Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell , and if he was lucky, perhaps even his cousin and best friend, Pheobe. "Really? Is Phee there too?" he replied quickly, a wide grin full of desire and pleading plastering his cheeks, "Can we go see them?!" he added excitedly.

"Yeah, of course. Can't miss a chance like this now, can we?" Balun happily replied and glanced back down at his datapad, sending a response and confirming their ETA.

Cheers brother, Kell and I are in a cab. Just left the Jedi Temple, we'll head your way and meet you out front. Kellan's also asking if Pheobe is with you?

Smiling to himself, he sent the brief response before setting the device back in his lap and looking ahead to their driver; "Change of plans, the senate district, if you'd be so kind", he informed the man, soon leaning back and glancing out his side of the airspeeder, looking across the countryside, admiring the view. Shiraya's Sanctuary wasn't within the City limits, but it also wasn't far to travel via speeder, and they'd likely reach their destination in the next fifteen minutes.

For now, though, the splendid nature and lush landscape of Naboo offered Balun a moment of peace, a fondness for the way that the Force had breathed life into the world so remarkably.

As promised, they had gotten ice cream. Phoebe was busy with a swirled vanilla cone coated in rainbow sprinkles. In a small cup next to her was more sprinkles in which she used to dip after each bite. Her dress, once spotless, was now sporting sprinkles all over the front. At least the session had ended with her staying clean and presentable.

Sitting out in a little courtyard, Makai was enjoying milkshake at Phoebe's insistence he also get something. In between chatting with his daughter and commenting on her sprinkle intake, his datapad kept buzzing. At first he thought it was his wife but it appeared Balun had gotten back to him regarding the Senate decision and more.

[[ We're sitting in this courtyard down from the ice cream parlor on the same stretch of street. Phoebe is with me, Myra got called away at the last moment and all the grandparents were busy. Worked out in the end, we're headed for a family trip. Stop by and see us, not sure how long we will be gone. ]]

A few weeks Makai suspected. Both he and Ellie could work from afar or take a short trip. There was a lot of work to be done on Orron and it wouldn't be a simple few night stay.

It took them roughly half an hour, give or take, to reach the courtyard where Makai and Pheobe awaited them. Travelling by air-cab offered sights of the Naboo green plains whilst Balun had been considering their visit to the Jedi Temple and his son's prospective future.

It troubled him somewhat to know what to do about Kellan's future training. The Jedi offered the best protection, ideology, and training, keeping his Son steadily influenced by the Light Side of the Force, yet he couldn't help but wonder how his family would feel. Then again, while they knew the truth about Kellan's mother, they'd probably expect as much to happen - that, or Balun training his Son personally, which ultimately wouldn't sit right with him.

The training of a student required both consideration of their needs and livelihood, and a sense of emotional distance that Balun didn't feel capable of maintaining when it came to Kellan. Naturally, he was too emotionally invested and felt that it would inevitably endanger them in future missions. He had often considered the possibility. Training him in his younger years was very different from what a Master would endeavour. When Kellan had grown roughly to the age of seven, ideally, before being taken as an apprentice.

Kellan was first to spot Makai and Pheobe, giving a shout of excitement at the sight of his cousin and yanking at the tabard of Balun's tunic before racing off ahead. His father smirked to himself, though he retained a casual stride. The courtyard was busy with people coming and going, yet his son was in no danger, with both Balun and Makai watching him as he ran between them.

"Hey, bro", Balun greeted Makai with a faint grin, soon looking down to Pheobe with a broader smile; "Hey, Pheebs!" he spoke with a little more enthusiasm; "What a nice surprise to find you both on Naboo".

"We just saw the Jedi Temple!" Kellan blurted out, his father having hoped to avoid the conversation. Or at least warm his way into it, yet his Son saw no problem sharing what he clearly thought was exciting news and beamed at Pheobe; "What're you guys doing here?" he soon enquired, though he didn't sound at all disappointed. Rather, Kellan couldn't think of a better surprise after the wondrous tour through Shiraya's Sanctuary.

"Hey baby bro."

"Uncle Bale!" At this point, Phoebe had a face full of ice cream and rainbow sprinkles. "Kel!"

Makai rose from his spot on at the table, quickly embracing Kellan in a hug. His nephew seemed incredibly excited and started to question why he and Phoebe were on Naboo. It was rare indeed, especially since he was focused on the Tingel Arm and the Slice, head tucked down focused on business and wrangling the women of his life.

Silently, Makai took out his wallet and handed a credcard over to Thirty-Seven. The droid seemed to understand, ice cream for both Balun and Kellan. They may had only been passing through for a few moments but he could send his nephew off on a sugar high to annoy his brother. Seemed only fitting.

"Did you? Went on a big tour?" Did Jedi give tours? Maybe to other Jedi? "I'm here for political business before heading off to meet with Aunt Myra way out in the Corporate Sector. Promised Phoebe some ice cream. Don't worry, I sent Thirty-Seven to get you some too. Go on, go sit with Pheebs, I know she missed you."

Squeezing Kellan's shoulder, Makai straightened up to look at Balun.

"You guys doing alright?"

Balun waited for Kellan Dashiell Kellan Dashiell and Pheobe to wander off and find a seat, talking amongst themselves with the boy suddenly elated at the prospect of Ice-Cream, enquiring what flavour his cousins were and licking his lips as if he were tempted to steal a taste. Fortunately, his father had taught him a modicum of manners, for which he restrained himself.

"Yeah, we've been pretty good. I've been spoiling Kellan a bit lately, so his mood's at an all-time high" Balun smiled as he watched after the younglings. Truthfully, there was a mission coming up pertaining to the planet Moorja, and as per usual, Balun often looked to make the most of his time with his Son before such times.

"Kell's been asking questions about the Jedi, about what my life was like as a kid and that sort of thing. Offered to give him a first-hand introduction to the home of the Order here in Republic Space, and he jumped at the chance..." he pursed his lips, glancing down briefly before looking to his brother.

"Still not certain how I feel about it", he remarked before adding, "Don't need to say anything, I know how everyone feels," and by everyone, he was referring to the Dashiell's as a family. Neither Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell nor Makai were particularly fond of the Jedi, though Balun suspected that Makai's grievances would be more focused around Kellan, compared to their father's grudge with the Order itself.

"How about yourself? How is Myra doing? Haven't seen much of you guys since Life Day" Balun turned the subject back on Makai and his wife, hoping for a more cheerful discussion and to avoid a potential argument.

"Sounds like you two are having good time. I'm sure the poor kid has been bored to tears seeing all the classrooms that look the same. The library. Oh, maybe that one spot where a girl almost kissed you but came to her senses."

Makai chuckled at his own jokes. All in good fun, more just ribbing at Balun's expense. Before he could even raise an eyebrow though Balun had cut him off from mentioning anything. He didn't know how to feel about his nephew potentially being dropped off at school and then what? He wasn't sure if his brother could see Kellan needed to have family around. Even before his brother could say something though, the half-Galan knew wasn't going to have it out with Balun here.

Ellie knew his feelings on the matter and he typically just shared his thoughts with his wife.

"I'm fine. Just been busy. We both have. That's why Phoebe is with me. Myra got called away last second and all the grandparents were busy." They never left Phoebe alone with the nanny, maybe just an hour or two. "It was easier to bring her with me. I was sitting in on a Senate session. After this we are meeting Ellie back on her Ma's farm, then I've got some business in the Corporate Sector."

Thirty-Seven was returning with the ice cream, handing a rainbow sprinkle cone to Kellan and a plain one to Balun.

[ I didn't know what you would like Mister Dashiell. ]

"What is next on your agenda? Taking my nephew on more disappointing tours?"

"Thanks, thirty-seven. For future reference, my favourite flavour is named after my brother here. Strawberry snowflake".

He couldn't help himself; the regular banter between him and Makai was one of the games the two brothers often played, and had done since the first day they had met. That would typically be an unusual statement, but Balun was seventeen at the time.

So close brothers as Balun felt they were, it was often difficult to know he was at odds with him over Balun's life choices.

"You've been spending a lot of time in my old stomping ground, huh?" Balun turned back to Makai, speaking of the Tingel Arm. He had served among the Aquilian Rangers of the Tingel Arm Coalition years before joining the High Republic, before committing to the Jedi Order. It had been a high rank for someone so young, an honour to serve and with the freedom to travel the region wearing the badge with pride.

Of course, with his service also came his participation on the battlefield, the first of which he had experienced at fourteen years of age. Far younger than anyone should have to witness such horrors.

"Business has been going well for you guys, I'm assuming?" he asked, hoping as much for Makai and his family. "Wouldn't happen to be the reason for your presence at the Senate, would it?" Balun was admittedly curious, though he remembered having a conversation with his father about the Dashiell's getting into politics at one stage, and figured Makai was better suited than any of them.

Sitting alongside Pheebs, Kellan enjoyed his ice cream while staring off across the courtyard and voicing his curiosity about the Senate Rotunda; "What was it like, the big Senate place? Dad says there's heapsa people in there?" he asked, trying to imagine being around so many different people. Kellan had a touch of anxiety in largely social environments, though he didn't have the words to identify the issue at hand, he knew he was different from most other people. At least, by appearance.

"Nah, no more tours", Balun chuckled quietly, glancing back over at Kellan and Pheobe thoughtfully, "Heading back to Jhaessa Prime. I've got a trip coming up, and I want to get something sorted for Kell and Vesha before time gets too close to the day". He didn't give any details about what the trip was exactly, though, once again, he figured Makai might have an idea or two.

His older brother was the smarter of the two, after all.

"Strawberry Snowflake is my stripper name" Makai said quietly enough so it wouldn't carry to the kids. "Also, fun fact, I did a male revue charity show for my fraternity one year. Brought in an insane amount of credits and no, I didn't get naked." He paused, realizing how the story must sound. "Children's hospital was our charity partner, it was a good cause."

Thinking of the Tingel Arm, Makai shrugged.

"Dad has always had a presence in the Tingel Arm. For me its more of getting back to a quieter part of the 'verse. Tried our hand in the Core and I'll keep a presence but for family life and my goals....its time to head back out that way. Much like the Senate, I'll keep an eye out and ties, but the bulk and core of the company just has to lie elsewhere."

The half-Galan sighed, turning thoughtful. The decisions upcoming were more than business. They were also personal.

"I can't keep up otherwise."

He wasn't sure Balun would understand so he didn't elaborate. Unlike his little brother, there was more weight on his shoulders despite not being much older. Different circumstances also gave him a different perspective he didn't expect Balun to understand.

"I can take Kellan. Phoebe would enjoy the company. We're not doing anything crazy. Some family time on Danger's farm. A little business on the planet surrounding but its more just us getting away and planning our next steps."

Dipping her ice cream into the cup of sprinkles once more, Phoebe nodded at her cousin's assessment of the Senate.

"Lots of people, yeah. Thats why Papa said I had to dress up. We didn't talk to anyone though."
Little brows furrowed. "Papa cussed though. I gotta tell Mama when we get back."

Clearly latched onto the fact.

"What'd you do?"

"Y'know, typically I would question stories like that, but when it comes to you, bro, somehow I'm convinced without a single doubt in my mind that there's a pole out there somewhere with your name on it" Balun quickly replied, not leaving his brothers incredable story free of sibling banter. A broad smirk painted across his face, and he glowered at Makai with a newfound respect for the shameless picture Mak's words had described.

"I hope to all the Gods you haven't passed your talents down the family line"
, he snorted a laugh, soon glancing back to where Kellan and Pheobe were sitting, shaking his head in clear dispute of his own remark.

Between Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell , Makai and Balun, it seemed they had all had a hand in the Tingle Arm at one point or another. It was yet another ironic similarity they shared, an unintentional coincidence that spoke to their likeness. If they weren't family, one might think they were inseparable with the frequency of these small yet common interests arising from time to time.

When Makai offered to take Kellan Dashiell Kellan Dashiell , Balun visibly hesitated. He himself wasn't exactly finding it easy to step away from his son's life, and every time he did so came with a good deal of risk to himself, yet the notion that Kellan might be kept distracted from this single revelation did provide a hint of relief in his features as he kept his eyes on the two younglings.

While he hadn't given any details to Makai, Balun knew the nature of his taking leave, and Kellan would only remain so oblivious for so long. Eventually, he would grow up to realise that his father wasn't simply going out to help other people, but that there were inherent dangers in his line of work.

"I wasn't hinting at anything?" Balun glanced back to his brother, the sudden thought occuring to him that perhaps he might have given off that impression to Makai; "I wasn't going to ask. You guys already do a lot for us both..." he expressed, yet as his words faded, his brother would see that he had already accepted the offer in mind, "Would you and Myra really not mind? I know Kellan will enjoy himself more with you guys than with Vesha".

"There was no pole." Makai shook his head, as if Balun hadn't truly grasped his story. "Nor do I have any talents. Just your average boy."

Sitting back against the bench, brows furrowed as his brother visible hesitated about sending Kellan along with him. The half-Galan found it odd, in his opinion he and Ellie were more than qualified to watch his nephew. Quietly sorting through the confusion and sifting through any potential issues Balun could have with him, Makai kept coming up blank.

"I didn't think you were fishing. You mentioned getting Kellan set up with Vesha and I assumed you were going to be busy. Last trip we recently took with Phoebe it was tiring. She's going through this...I don't know how to describe it....wild terrorism crusade phase. Entertaining her has been exhausting, so having Kellan will take off some of that burden."

Hand ran through his hair, remembering how rough it was to have a toddler confined to a luxury yacht for endless days.

"Plus the farm has tons of animals. Kellan will be thrilled. Its way out in the Corporate Sector. Very safe. Ellie and I won't mind, we weren't doing anything too crazy that can't accommodate another kid."

"The farm does sound perfect for Kell; he's grown up with a fondness for animals, much like I did. Something I'm glad we have in common, he cares for nature a great deal, although I don't think he's got much history in botany as I did" Balun grinned, recalling the last time he had tried to introduce Kellan to gardening and hearing the boys complaints of boredom, as though he had been tasked with climbing the tallest mountain on Joiol.

"He went through something similar, a loud, destructive phase when he first came into his voice and liked to throw his toys about the place. The tantrums were rather hilarious, despite having to pretend to be stern with him," he added thereafter, chuckling quietly under his breath. Fortunately for Kellan, Balun was a very patient and compassionate parent, his tolerance well capable of handling the boy's mood swings when they occurred. Less often now than when he was two years old, but they still happened from time to time.

"And he idolises Pheobe, so I know he would be thrilled by the idea", he concluded, though it wasn't the idea itself that gave him pause but rather knowing that Balun was stepping away again for a time. Between his brother and his father, he was aware of their feelings about his lifestyle and heard their warnings about how his being a Jedi might affect Kellan as he grew up.

"Speaking of Pheobe, have you and Myra decided anything regarding her education? Schooling and whatnot? They're both about a year away from that age..." Balun asked, intrigued to learn what his brother had planned, while also considering his options for Kellan. He would be going on five years old soon, and Balun would need to make a decision sooner or later about what his path might look like.

"Not really that many tantrums. I mean she has the big feelings still....more this kid just rolls in like a severe storm. Frankly given who her mother is I am not surprised."

Demanding. Phoebe had been demanding from the womb. Now she was getting smarter and learning to put two and two together. How to use her voice. Logic forming. Makai was proud to see it but if he wasn't tired at the end of some days. Whoever told him those quiet, newborn days were the roughest certainly lied. Sleepless nights were nothing compared to this.

"Glad you think he will enjoy it, I'll keep him away from any of the vegetable patches."

Talk to turn to schooling and he nodded slowly. It had been a topic in their household recently. One of the reasons they were going out to the Corporate Sector to begin with.

"We have, which is why we're going to Orron III." Makai paused, unsure. "Moving headquarters out that way. The Core...Mid-Rim, all too dangerous for our liking for Phoebe. Moving on the edge of Danger's farm. Nearby there's a small village called Sefalls. Debating on funding a school there for the workers of Aina and Dashiell Incorporated, along with some of the locals. Right now you know she has her private tutors for her trade languages and simple things, introduction to reading and the like."

The half-Galan turned to look at his brother.

"After what Ellie and I went through growing up, we just want our kids to enjoy themselves. We're keeping the Joiol property, and also building something in the Slice."

Head glanced back towards the kids.

"What are you thinking for Kellan?"

"Funding a school sounds like a worthwhile initiative. Would do some real good," Balun replied, imagining what a school influenced by his brother might look like. Of course, he merely suggested a financial contribution, but Balun had found that education seemed to vary with a single family's financial capacity. Different schools cater to different socio-economic standards, thus giving the impression of an unfair advantage to those who can afford them.

"Like Pheobe, I've had Kellan learn under a tutor for primary education, and Vesha is also a capable teacher, but it's not Kellan's capability to learn that worries me", Balun explained, watching the two younglings, specifically his son, as he thought of the known anxieties that Kellan experienced against the public spotlight; "He's acutely aware that no one else looks as he does. He's unique, and while I keep telling him that makes him all the more special, he's afraid of being judged by others".

"Then there's the Force-User side of him..." Balun added apprehensively, "I've been training him so far, teaching him how to respect his abilities and use them with restraint, but there are challenges that Force-Users face, and I want him to be prepared for that. Coming into your own as a Force-User can be disorientating without guidance, and I worry about..." he paused, frowning to himself for a moment as he thought to find the appropriate word use, speaking a little more softly, "How his mother's side may influence him. He's more susceptible than I was, because of who he is".

"Education is important, but I want him to be safe as well. Security is something I'm constantly trying to factor into his life, who can protect him should something happen. Should someone seek him out?" He glanced to his side, looking to Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell , knowing that his brother understood who Balun was speaking of.

Makai didn't say the school would be more or less a private benefit for employees with scholarships offered to the locals. An incentive to get the best and brightest in his company to move and stay. If they didn't have to pay for education or rely on local government funded education, it could possibly make a difference.

Eyebrow raised as his brother described his thoughts on young Kellan. Part of him wasn't sure what to say - or what to say without offending. Kellan was unique looking and he could see how the boy would be a little self conscious. He felt the same way about some of his scale patches. Once the boy was older and more comfortable the situation would more than likely resolve itself. Especially once the kid was a teenager and found a girl to be enamored by.

As for the Force thing, Makai found it a convenient excuse. From what he could tell much was based on 'buts' and 'assumptions' of the boys nature. Putting the kid into a box before any real problems arose. There were times Makai got the impression his brother thought Kel was going to start picking the wings of flies for fun. He had yet to see anything of the sort.

"So basically you're unqualified to teach your own son the ways of the Force?"

To him, this was like saying he was unqualified to teach Phoebe how to identify ores and minerals. It was what he did, a passion, and thus easily passed down to his own offpsring.

"I mean, safety is top of mind for every parent. As for your situation, I'm not worried about her. It sounds good until reality slaps her in the face. Or nanny. Or guard. Or hell, even me. You know me and a guy beat the crap out of Ellie's old boyfriend? I broke both his hands. GravGolf club." The half-Galan shrugged. "Bastard rightfully hasn't been seen in the Core since."

Makai paused, thought crossing his mind.

"So what are you going to do? Toss him away into one of your hermit temples and throw away the key? That won't be good for his self-esteem. He's already feeling like an outcast and abandoned by one parent."

"Nah, I've been training him thus far, as I said. Started off gradually when he first began to show signs of conscious sensitivity, it's been slow going as he grows, not wanting to overwhelm him," Balun described loosely, not going into too much detail, given his brother didn't understand the complexities of life as a Force-Sensitive.

"When he's older, it becomes a bit more complicated. If I were to follow the Jedi curriculum, which is what I was taught, emotional attachment could lead to bias that might influence or deter his growth as a Force-User. If I'm afraid of pushing him too hard, for example, being too soft when he needs to experience his limits, could ultimately leave him with gaps in his training and potential", this was of course something that Balun had been thinking about; none of it was concrete evidence but rather speculation from a concerned father.

"I haven't spoken to other Jedi about it at all, yet. I'd like to get advice, but I'm starkly aware that everyone carries a bias, whether they're Jedi or outside of the Order. I have a friend who teaches at an Enclave on Mnemosyne, much more neutral-based, but I'm not sure she would consider training my Son. Our relationship was a bit up and down over the years..." Balun thought aloud, thinking of Iona Starchaser Iona Starchaser and the Praxeum of the Whills.

"I haven't made any plans, though, I'm still thinking ahead. There's no rush with me being able to guide him in the early stage..." Balun explained to Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell , wanting to avoid an argument, and heard the rise in his tone as he voiced his perspective. "I know our upbringing differs a great deal, and this all sounds unnatural to you. For me, it was the only life I knew. Had you and Dad been around and I been visiting back and forth, it would have made it a totally different experience for me." Balun had been so resistant to the Jedi life as it had felt forced on him, abandoned by a family that refused to be present in his life.

"For Kellan, if he did want to be a Jedi, he wouldn't be left alone to it. I would be there by his side. Being the Apprentice to the Grandmaster, the head of the Order, gives me a good deal of freedom to operate within the Temple here on Naboo. It would mean being able to observe his progress, whereas anywhere else I'd have no access".

Makai listened without interruption, eyebrow raising at some of the points Balun made. He couldn't picture sending Phoebe off at such a young age. Maybe when she reached the age of ten or so a summer camp could be explored if she so desired it. Even then it would be a discussion. His brother was talking of sending a small schoolaged child to live away from his family on a more permanent or semi-permanent basis.

It seemed, from his position, a horrible thing to do. If his brother was so concerned about the 'darkside' shoving a kid off to an impersonal school away from a support network seemed like a great way to get him started on said path. Not that Makai cared, he did business with the likes of Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf - to the point of trusting her to escort Persephone. His nephew would still be more than welcomed in his life.

At this point he felt like hitting his own brother with said gravgolf clubs.

Yet he couldn't start a familial incident. Especially not in front of the kids. Nor would it be wise to drive a wedge between them. Then Kellan would be cut off from spending any time with him and the family. His feelings on how stupid his brother sounded paled in comparison to ensuring the boy would have a safe place to land. Maybe Kellan would need it sooner than later.

"Quite the choice there." Getting up, the half-Galan stretched a little. "Probably should be getting these kids to the space port. Long haul to the Corporate Sector."

Balun's response was silent, exhaling through his nose with as subtle a sighing breath as he could manage.

Force only knew what drove him to hope that his brother might try to understand, to be open to the prospective life of a Force-User, where training and discipline, guidance above all, counted against the lure of temptation and darkness, yet this only served to remind Balun of the difference that set him apart from the Dashiell's.

The Force was the only aspect of his life that truly hit a sore point between them, and in most cases was better avoided than left to open discussion. Balun had figured that Makai would be more receptive than Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell , of course. Their father had a deep mistrust of the Jedi, yet it seemed the apple hadn't fallen far from the tree when it came to Kellan's future.

"Send my love to Myra", he spoke after a moment of self-reflection, soon turning his eyes over to the younglings; "Kellan, Pheobe", he called to them and soon waved them over to the two adults.

Kellan's sensitive ears picked up his father's tone perfectly, and though it might have hidden Balen's change in mood, the young force-sensitive picked up on it quickly through sensing a shift within his father's ethereal aura. This gave the boy pause as he had turned, looking back to briefly study his pa, only to be distracted by Pheobe as she shifted beside him.

"Coming!" he quickly shouted back, crossing the courtyard space, a short distance that had kept them in eyesight; "Are we going home already?" he asked with an edge of pre-determined disappointment, anticipating that their day on Naboo had come to an end sooner than he'd have liked.

"Slight change of plans, kiddo. Uncle Mak and I have decided you can spend some time with Pheebs. You're going to go with them, and I'll have Vesha bring your things over" Balun grinned to his son, easily sensing the news would be well received by his little ears.

"Really? I get to stay with you??" Kellan beamed, turning to look up at Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell for confirmation.

"Of course. Maybe dinner sometime, all three of us, when I get back closer this way to drop off Kellan."

Lia and Vesha, along with Thirty-Seven, had been keeping an eye on the kids as they ate their ice cream in the courtyard. Balun had called for them to join them up front since Makai thought it best to leave. Really they could have argued until they were both blue in the face but maturity was realizing it was best to cut a visit short.

As Kellan inquired if he got to stay, Makai reached down and tousled the boys dark locks.

"You sure do. Your Pa is going to be real busy so you're coming with me, Pheebs, and Aunt Myra. We're headed off to the Corporate Sector. Going to spend some time on a farm. Lots of animals. A lake too, so swimming if the water isn't too cold. Does that sound fine? If not, I'm sure Miss Vesha would love to have you as company back home."

Phoebe turned her head, silently pleading that Kellan would go after hearing the plans in place.

Kellan Dashiell Kellan Dashiell was elated by the news, while Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell confirmed his father's statement. Kellan's smile only broadened as he turned to Pheobe and began to jump up and down in celebration, the surprise completely out of left field, as he loved spending time with Phee and her family. Aunt Myra and Uncle Mak were always loving and took them to exciting places, doing things together as a group. They both worked, as his Dad did, but with them he had the added company of someone his age, his best friend in the entire Galaxy!

Balun simply smiled as he watched the younger pair, letting the moment sink in. It seemed he would be flying back to Jhaessa Prime on his own, but at least Kellan wouldn't need to be there to watch Balun leave for the coming mission. "You'll be on your best behaviour while you're gone, kiddo. Your Aunty and Uncle's word is law," Balun reminded the boy before turning and glancing back to his brother.

Nothing he thought of to say seemed satisfactory or worthwhile, so Balun simply gave Makai a nod, followed by a forced smile, lips slightly pursed and skewed to one side as though offering his resignation for the small amount of time they had shared together. Unfortunately, the conversation had turned somewhat pear-shaped, yet the younglings were happy, and he and his brother were adults; they were both capable of moving on.

"Alright, well..." He said as he glanced back to the two young ones, "Try not to drive Uncle Mak too crazy on the flight back. I let you guys get going so the adventures can get started!" he gave an enthusiastic face, eyes wide with a big, excited grin, as though he were sharing in their happiness. He might have looked like a tool in the moment, but the kids giggled and grinned, and it seemed to find its mark with them as intended.

"Now they are hopped up on ice cream and excitement. Going to be a real interesting first half of the flight out."

At least Phoebe would have her cousin available to get all that excited energy out with, instead of himself. Makai imagined there was going to be a lot of running about the yacht and the crash of various toys before both tapered off their sugar high. Hopefully no crankiness would follow but he wasn't counting on it.

The half-Galan gave his brother a brief half hug before they parted. He wasn't mad at his brother, just incredibly disappointed. Pushing him away wasn't going to solve the issues he had with the entire Kellan issue. Might even make it worse.

"Dinner when we get back, or when we meet you to drop of Kell. I'm sure Myra would love to see you again."

With a small nod, he looked around at the small younglings underfoot.

"Alright troops, lets roll out and get flying. Corporate Sector isn't going to wait for anyone."
