SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Speed Skater: The FAE/P-06 SuperGlide Repulsift Skates allow a capable skater to glide just above the ground at breakneck speeds, often in excess of 1800 km/h. Thus, a trained, talented user can harness the repulsorlift skates to lethal effect in battle, making them into a hyper-lethal high-speed skirmisher that can engage targets at blinding speeds.
  • Stability: The SuperGlides are ultra-stable, with controlled, poised handling characteristics at all speeds. In this, the repulsorlift field is tuned for maximum inertia negation. This makes the FAE/P-06 significantly more beginner-friendly than the FAE/P-02. In addition, the ultra-stable handling characteristics allow skaters to better wield larger, more powerful weapons while skating due to improved recoil stabilization.
  • Extreme Condition: The SuperGlides are capable of all-terrain and all-weather operation. In addition, their surface repulsor capability allows them to function over deep water, giving skaters the ability to engage in aquatic maneuvers.
  • Disentangled: The integrated, miniaturized gravitic stabilizers allow the skates to maintain operation while in areas subject to repulsorlift jamming.
WEAKNESSES
  • Push Off: In utilizing repulsorlifts, the FAE/P-06 also has the chief disadvantage of the technology—that being an inability to function without a nearby gravity well as the system requires mass to push against. Thus, the SuperGlides are nonfunctional in deep space.
  • Mechanical Mutation: Like any piece of technology, the SuperGlides will likely be susceptible to mechu-deru and other technology-twisting powers if left unprotected. A talented practitioner of such esoteric sorceries could induce a jam or some other technological failure that might compromise the system entirely or demand precious time to fix, leaving the user vulnerable.
  • No Running: The SuperGlides are designed in such a way as to optimize repulsorlift output and efficiency. Unfortunately, these design decisions came at the expense of practicality. As such, the HyperGlides do not allow the user to easily walk while wearing them. Users must resort to either hovering very slowly or clumsily (and slowly) walking on the “repulsorlift blade” of the skates.
DESCRIPTION
First United Astral Engineering’s second product entry into the repulsorlift skates market following the FAE/P-02 Energized Jump Skates, the FAE/P-06 SuperGlide Repulsorlift Skates are the more disciplined, controlled, and stable counterpart to its predecessor. Due to their less twitchy and unstable handling characteristics, the SuperGlides are more beginner-friendly than the FAE/P-02s in spite of the fact that the SuperGlides can reach a higher top speed. Naturally, this speed comes at the expense of handling. Thus, while fairly balletic, the SuperGlides lack the raw, jittery agility of the FAE/P-02s. The SuperGlides function best when taking wider, more calculated lines.

Still, like the FAE/P-02s, the SuperGlides are an ultra-high-performance skate that is fairly demanding on their users in terms of physical strain and technical skill. However, the SuperGlide’s stable handling characteristics make it a good learner’s skate, especially when the power setting modulation system is used to dampen the power for beginners.

In terms of specifications, the SuperGlides are rated for a top speed of 1800 km/h (1900 km/h with active repulsor booster). Their normal rated flight ceiling is ~5 meters above the ground level of the immediate area (i.e. if a user is skating over on a rooftop, then the ground level is the rooftop), although the repulsor booster function can allow for extended "bounds" outside this ceiling. In addition, the skates are capable of “leapfrogging” the user from one point in space to another, skating on inverted surfaces, and accelerating up vertical and even "overhang" surfaces against normal gravity. Finally, the skates can maintain normal operation so long as they are within "antigrav range" of a gravity well.

In all, the SuperGlide is a skate that prizes foresight over reflex, rewarding skaters who think several moves or corners ahead with unparalleled stability. It is a platform for mastering the very physics it defies, offering skaters to float like a carrier butterfly and sting like an eel!
