There were very few things that the Mandalorian valued more than all the credits in the Galaxy. First amongst these were the Resol'nare: the tenets which dictated day to day living for the children of Mandalore. The second of these...was sleep. Ever sinc receiving his promotion within the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Isley had been aroused from the midst of slumber countless times in order to run a variety of operations. While his record had been one of success, the constant sacrifice of sleep had led him to desire nothing more than a day off...and once relucantantly taken he had made absolutely certain to cut out all potential distractions. He had given @[member="Phoebe Draclau"] his credit chit for a day on the town, he had set his comm to the emergency channel...and then collapsed on his bed for some well-deserved rest.

Twenty minutes later, just as he entered the sweet embrace of slumber, his comm blared into existence with its obnoxious tone. An exasperated growl escaped the Mandalorian's lips as he fumbled about and clawed for the device which laid upon his bedside dresser. Once the infernal thing was in his grasp, he rolled over and spoke with a groggy voice. "This had better be karking good." were his only words. From this point, he was brought up to date as to what had transpired only hours before. Apparently, a young woman, no older than thirteen in age, had become an accomplice for murder. While this was something that Isley could care less about, it was the fact that she frantically brought up his name that caused the local authorities to call him.

Apparently, his baby sister had come all the way to Confederate space looking for him, had gotten in a spot of trouble, and was now sitting in a holding cell. Wrought with disbelief, and tired frustration, the Mandalorian bolted from his bed and quickly donned his armor before making his way to the station. Upon arrival, he was greeted by the officers in charge and escorted to the rear of the facility, through the various corridors, until they arrived at the electrified holding cells. With each step, Isley felt himself growing angry; for they had locked his sister, his baby sister, in a karking cell with animals? What were they thinking?! He'd have went off and slugged them...if not for the fact that it would have made things worse for her. At long last, they arrived at cell B13R, which was filled to the brim with women whom looked to be high out of their minds.

"Open the karking gate." he growled, to which the officers complied. Once the door slid open, Isley stepped within the cell and said aloud. "Ginnie?! Are you in here?!"

@[member="Ginnie Verd"].

Credit-less and devoid of her comm, Ginnie Verd scuffled with a drunken man and his pimp girlfriend. She screamed and yelled, punched, kicked, scratched at the fumbling man - trying to get her bag back. All she wanted was her stuff back! Ginnie didn't know what they yelled at her for, watching the foul expressions on their faces, she was glad her hearing aides had fallen out and gotten crunched under the man's boot.

That's when it happened. He slipped on her hearing aides. One of his hands let go of the knapsack and Ginnie grabbed it, tugging it to her chest as the woman screeched at the man and grabbed his lapel, mouthing something that looked like 'frelling cheat' and he fell over the station's banister down, down, down to the hangar bay far below. The girl's lips quivered as she watched over the rail, fascinated by the way his body contorted on the far-off ground. She didn't hear when the pimp-woman grabbed her arm, nails biting down into her dark flesh so hard she screamed.

"She did it! She did it! She pushed him, I saw her do it!" Ginnie was thrown into the arms of officials, they yelled and locked her in a room, explained what she'd done and if she'd give them a name, a guardian, where were her parents? She tried to read their lips but one was a Bothan. Useless. All the girl could say, all she knew was that police were there to help little lost kids, and his little lost girl needed her big brother. Ginnie needed @[member="Isley Verd"]. Repeated and repeated his name had been, until they put her in a holding cell 'to make her cooperate'. She didn't hear them. Ginnie didn't know why. She balled her fists and fought the urge to punch them in the gut.

Once in the holding cell, Ginnie quickly discovered being small was the best advantage a girl could have. She snuck underneath doting drunks and jittering glitterstim addicts, until she crammed herself in the smallest hole she could find and prayed her brother would come rescue her.

Deep in the back corner of the holding cell crammed into a cranny manufactured when a conglomerate of brawling women knocked a bed slab out of its moorings, a thirteen year old deaf girl huddled with her arms clutched around her knees. She buried all but one eye into the sopping wet fabric of her knee-covered trousers, watching the spasmodic feet and thighs of incarcerated females slide, quiver and stumble around the space. One of the women barked up,

"That deaf girl!? There's a girl in here, she was watchin' my lips! I'd a cousin what did that, watched and watched. Couldn't hear a lick. She's in the corner."

"Deaf?" The Police officer asked.

The Mandalorian could not believe what he was seeing. His sister, handicapped by a lack of hearing ability, was cooped up in a cell with a pack of Spice Junkies?! There was an angry growl that escaped his lips as he shoved past the horde of drug-addicted women, towards the back of the holding cell, until he came to a halt before the girl who was seated upon the floor. This was her...this was his baby sister...after all these years. A multitude of emotions washed over him in a single instant: remorse, anger, confusion...yet the largest was simply an overwhelming urge to protect. At first, he expected for her to damn near leap into his arms; but then it dawned on him that the armor he wore at this very moment was infinitely different from the one he had left home with. He had reforged it to suit his own purposes, and to this end it looked much more menacing then before. As such, he dropped to one knee and removed his helmet, then spoke, moving his lips slowly and clearly so that she could read them.

"Ginnie, I'm here. What happened?" he said, in a voice as soft as a whisper. Then, he reached out and pulled her into his arms, damn near cradling her against his armor for a few seconds. Upon release, he inspected her closely. There were no pronounced injuries, nor bruises. "Talk to me sister, what happened?" he said, with his now-yellow eyes upon her.

@[member="Ginnie Verd"].

Ginnie rubbed her nose with her sleeve, her chin wobbling. It wasn't okay to cry. It wasn't tough. At first she shirked away from @[member="Isley Verd"], scrambling by pushing her feet on the floor and herself along the wall. She put her hands up in a defensive position to protect her head until the helmet wooshed and there her brother knelt holding her close. The girl flung herself at Isley, embracing him so hard she thought the armour would dent her fleshly skin. Then, once she sat back wide-eyed at her brother and watched him talk, she slugged him in the jaw with her shaking, nervous fist.

"What happened!? You ran away! That's what happened! You ran and Mandalore was gross! You bum! You left! You left me alone! How do you think I would deal with it!?" She snuffled and hiccuped before colliding into her big brother's arms again. "I been looking for you for four months! This guy tried to steal my bag, and his girlfriend started hitting him and they tried to grab me and I punched them good and grabbed my backpack and and and my hearing aides fell out and he slipped on them and fell over the railing, when his girlfriend pushed him! She pushed him! He slipped on my hearing aides and fell! I don't know what they want they kept yelling at me but I couldn't hear them!"

There was no denying that the blood of Mandalore flowed hot through the veins of his little sister, for out of hurt and frustration...she slugged him as hard as she could. Though she was small, she packed a solid punch; enough to cause the Mandalorian to audibly go "OW!". However, there was also no denying that he deserved that, and so much more. Isley hearkened to the words of his sister intently, nodding along as she quickly bore her tale, slugged him again, and then returned to his arms once more. A growl of frustration then erupted within his throat once he heard the reason why she was locked up. Could they honestly have thought that a young child would have maliciously killed someone? They weren't in Imperial space!!

"I'll handle them Ginnie, you're coming home with me." he said. Reaching down, he pulled his helmet back onto his head and then held her in his arms. He then stood, damn near cradling her in his arms as he began to carry her out of the cell. "Absolve her of whatever charges you've booked her with...I can't karking believe you'd toss a child, let alone my sister, into a cell. This isn't the Empire, there's no children going around murdering people. Force be damned!" he said to the nearest officer, before heading to the door. He then stopped, mid stride, and said to her. "I karked up, bad, little sister...but I'm never going to abandon you again. Now then...dry your eyes. Did you have any belongings with you?"

@[member="Ginnie Verd"].

Isley believed her. He also had that special kind of jaw that made her hand hurt after punching him. She noted that maybe next time she'd palm-heel strike him instead. Then she'd still be able to hold a blaster without clutzing it up afterward. Drying her eyes with her sleeves, Ginnie curled up on her brother's chest, hugging her little arms around his neck and clinging deep. Ginnie wouldn't let go. Not now she'd found him, four months was an eternity for a child, a greater span of life than the flickers of seconds it felt like to older people. Four months, and there he was rescuing her. "Are we going back to Mandalore?"

Innocent girl, how did she manage? "I have a knapsack. They took it. It's mine, they can't take it." She whimpered, burying her face in the crook between his helmet and his shoulder. "I didn't murder him. But I did punch him good. Punched him so hard I heard cracking."

Another loud sniff came from her nose, she stuttered and hugged a little stronger to @[member="Isley Verd"]. "Not allowed t'bandon me. Not ever allowed."

At first, silence ruled the Mandalorian...simply because he couldn't form the words to say. She clung to him so tightly, that it damn near caused a lump to form in his throat. The amount that he had missed her went beyond words; and as such he couldn't break her heart by outright saying no. Instead, he looked to the nearest guardsman and nearly barked. "Get her bag. Now." There was no verbal response, but instead the man quickly rendered a shaky nod and rushed out and around the corner. Isley waited, tapping his foot upon the ground, and less than thirty seconds later, the officer returned with the knapsack in question. The Mandalorian took the strap in his hand, rendered a nod of acknowledgement, and began to stride forth to the entrance of the establishment.

"I've got your knapsack right here..." he began softly, giving her a gentle, "keldabe kiss" by touching his helmet to her brow affectionately. "And I believe you, whole-heartedly. You have a really hard punch, you know that?" His words were punctuated with a proud chuckle as he exited the building and began walking towards his personal airspeeder. It wasn't anything too fancy, but it was enough to get him from point A to point B. "I'll never abandon you again, this I swear...but right now, we're not going back to Mandalore. We're going to my apartment. Okay?" he said, lowering her to the ground and opening the door to his speeder. "Go ahead and get strapped in."

With that said, he walked around to the other side, opened the door and sat within the driver's seat.

@[member="Ginnie Verd"].

Silence and words, the girl was used to living in silence, being kept behind a hazy door in comparison to the worlds at large. She didn't miss her brother's silence, but she didn't see it as significant. Too deep she curled into him, until he spilled her from his arms and she stood in front of his speeder.

What now? She'd found Isley, but what of it? He was taking her home, his apartment home and it would have to do while she enacted her plan to bring him back to Mandalore. Ginnie curled up in the speeder and belted herself in, grabbing her bag and clutching it to her young chest so hard her nails dug into the canvas. Wasn't nothing in the universe what would keep her from her stuff.

"I do have a hard punch. I might be defective, but I can fight. Fought my way through the wrong part of Coruscant! Bloodied my knuckles, but I did it. No son of a Naboo was gonna take down this lil girl of Mandalore. . . Why'd you have to leave me behind, Isley? I fight good enough don't I?" @[member="Isley Verd"]

Once they were both seated and strapped in, the Mandalorian started up the airspeeder's engines and drove it into the thriving throughways which led into the city. The flight wouldn't take long, but long enough for him to formulate a proper response to the question his baby sister had posed. He didn't know where to start, in all honesty, as so much had happened in such a rapid succession that it made his head spin at times. Nonetheless, he inhaled a breath and began. "I left you behind because I was supposed to be back in a week. The assignment was a simple scouting mission." He punctuated his words with a calm breath before continuing.

"But...I let my guard down and got captured. A week turned into three years being the plaything of a sadistic Sith. She tormented me, day and night, hoping to get information about Mandalore...but I didn't say a karking word. I busted out and saw that I was in Confederate space. They were nice enough to keep me from dying in the desert of Tatooine, patched me up, and even gave me housing. The least I could do was repay my debt to them with a little extra firepower on missions." Of course, there was more...more that'd get him slugged probably. "But...I got depressed and angry. The Confederacy wasn't enemies with the Sith, the Republic wasn't doing much, and the Empire just stood there. Unscathed. They attacked our home, waged war on our people, and yet that fat karking Emperor sat back and gloated all the while. Well, I wasn't going to have it."

"Ended up making a deal with another Sith. I work under him for a little bit and he gives me the opportunity to help kill the Emperor. I took it and helped cut down Voracitos. Then the Sith taught me all about the Dark Side. When it was all said and done, I left and came back to the Confederacy. By then, our people labeled me Dar'manda...and the rest is history."

@[member="Ginnie Verd"].

The Dark Side. Something inside Ginnie shivered, caterwauling deep with an ill sensation. @[member="Isley Verd"]'s baby sister was attached through strings and thick bands to the Force and the Dark Side had yet to touch her. Innocent and scared, Ginnie listened to her brother's story - eyes scanning the flow of his lips in the mirror. Dar'manda. Ginnie shivered again, a deeply unsettling jitter in her spine.

"This is what happens when you go off without me." She stated, sure of one firm universal constant. Isley wouldn't have had so many problems with his kid sister along for the ride. Huffing loudly, Ginnie tsked. "Leave you alone for a couple of years, and boom! Sith, torture, Sith, Emperor slaughter, drifting in space, nearly dying on Tatooine? Brother, you needed me more than I thought. Admit it. Dar'manda? Sounds to me like a cry for Ginnie help." Leaning over, Ginnie patted Isley's armoured arm and smiled up at him.

"It's okay, Isley. I'm here now. Everything's gonna just fine. I mean it!" Obviously what every troubled Darksider needed to bring themselves into the best possible future was their baby sister tagging along.

It came as an immense surprise to hear that the young Mandalorian was taking the news so well. As opposed to yelling, hitting, or even crying; she took Isley's tale in stride...and was absolutely convinced that all his woes were because she was not around. This display was, to say the least, adorable; and led Isley to reach out and pat her atop the head affectionately. "You're absolutely right. Now that you're here, all will be well." he said simply, before placing his hand back upon the wheel and completing the voyage home. He pulled the airspeeder to a halt just outside the balcony-entrance, which was located several stories into the air. "Watch your step." he advised, before unbuckling himself.

@[member="Ginnie Verd"].

After all, the whole thing started with @[member="Isley Verd"] leaving home. Not just home, but her! The ego-centric child knew that half that stuff would have disappeared if he'd have her around. "Exactly!" Ginnie huffed, scrunching her face at her brother's scratching her hair. Patting down her braids, Ginnie kicked her feet up on the dash of the speeder and continued hugging her bag.

"You know better now, don't you?" Once they got to the home, Ginnie threw her backpack around her shoulders and went to step out… then tumbled back into her seat and grabbed hold of the first thing she could grab hold to. "AUGH! HEIGHTS! I'm gonna fall! I'm gonna tumble into my doomy death! MY LIFE IS ALMOST OVER! Goodbye, Ginnie!"
