Valery blinked as Jonyna reached into her coat and pulled out a can. The familiar hiss of paint filled the quiet as the bold red lines of the Rebel Starbird bloomed across the side of the forgotten structure. For a beat, Valery just stood there, hands on her hips, head tilted slightly.

Then one brow arched.

"...Still a rebel, huh?" A teasing smile curled at her lips as she stepped up beside Jonyna, arms loosely folded. "Should I be worried you're about to tag the Temple next? Or are you saving that for a grand finale?"

She glanced at the symbol again, lingering this time. Despite the lightness in her tone, there was a flicker of something more in her eyes — nostalgia, maybe. Or understanding. Whatever this was for Jonyna, it meant something. And Valery, more than most, knew the weight that symbols could carry.

"Nice touch though," she added, her voice softer now. "This place could use a little reminder of who won."

She bumped her shoulder lightly into Jonyna again and nodded toward the entrance.

"Come on, Rebel. Let's see if your ship's still sleeping in there."

"Always will be." Jonyna said with a cheeky smirk. "Just need to remind folks who come back. I'm sure one day the Imps are gonna try and retake this world for their own means, and they'll find this waiting for them."

Jonyna was quick to follow, though Val was quick to find the entrance had long been wrecked. It went nowhere, whatever structure had been inside was now caved in, and a hole in the ceiling was all that was left. Jonyna, for her part, crawled up through it.

"Supposedly, based on my research, it's supposed to be due east of this structure, by a lake of some sort."

Jonyna was half expecting to find some sort of half complete wreck. The remnants of a starfighter.

Valery followed behind, the remnants of Jonyna's paintwork still fresh in the air. Her eyes lifted to the shattered remnants of the entrance, and her brows furrowed slightly as she stepped through the ruins, taking in the collapse. Whatever had once stood here was buried now, time and earth swallowing it whole. But it didn't deter her — not with Jonyna already scrambling up through the broken ceiling like the Force itself had whispered this way.

With a sigh that was equal parts amused and resigned, Valery leapt up after her, vaulting through the hole in a single smooth motion. As she landed beside the Cathar, she dusted off her gloves and glanced toward the tree-covered horizon.

"East of here, by a lake," she repeated, her voice laced with thoughtful curiosity. "Endor's got no shortage of lakes, but..." She closed her eyes briefly, reaching out with the Force. A ripple — faint, old, but distinct — brushed the edge of her senses.

She opened her eyes and nodded once. "I feel something. Not strong, but enough to follow." Her gaze flicked to Jonyna, and a teasing smirk tugged at the corner of her mouth. "You'd think if it was Red Five, it would've made a louder exit. Skywalker didn't strike me as the type to land gently."

She gestured toward the dense forest stretching eastward, the underbrush thick but navigable. "Let's go find your ghost ship. And if it's really still in one piece..." Valery's eyes sparkled with a mixture of disbelief and hope.

"...We're putting a museum plaque on it."

"Oh, I'm not leaving it here. I'm parking that thing right on the Tython temple grounds if it's still in one piece." Jonyna said with a confidence as they walked forward through the forest. It was easy to see why a jedi would chose this place as their final resting place. The Force flowed freely through the dense forest, and the sound of it's natives rang through the trees high above. Jonyna herself contemplated learning the language sometime, but she was also one to simply enjoy learning languages.

Jonyna could feel it too. The light pull, the whisper in the back of her mind. She started to follow it, and nothing else, leading her in a winding path through the trees. At some point, Jonyna leapt up into the branches to navigate the Denik way, vaulting from branch to branch.

Then they saw it.

A lake, shimmering with crystal clear water...

But next to it...

An X-wing, covered in the overgrowth of the forest. Moss, mud, roots wrapped around it's landing legs.

But it was in one piece. Untouched by anything more than nature itself.

"Well...Chit."

Jonyna was slightly awestruck, as she leapt down from the tree, pausing to look back to Val. "...do we just...walk up?"

Valery landed softly behind Jonyna, boots crunching against a patch of moss-covered earth as she followed the Cathar's wide-eyed gaze toward the lake. The sight stopped her cold. There it was — unmistakable, even half-swallowed by time and nature. An X-wing, ancient and proud, tangled in vines like some relic out of myth. It looked like it had slept peacefully for decades, undisturbed and oddly regal beneath the canopy.

Valery blinked once, then let out a quiet, incredulous laugh.

"Well, chit indeed," she murmured, folding her arms with a smirk.

She turned to Jonyna, eyebrow raised. "You sure this isn't just a really elaborate Force vision? Because I'm not convinced we didn't just trip into some Jedi fairy tale." Still, the awe was clear in her voice — even beneath the teasing. She took a step closer, the soft squish of damp soil underfoot barely noticeable as she approached the edge of the overgrowth.

"Do we just walk up?" she echoed, shooting Jonyna a sideways glance. "What do you want me to do, knock? Ask if Luke's home?" She shook her head, grinning now. Then, with all the reverence and none of the hesitation, Valery stepped toward the X-wing, her voice dropping to something more measured — but still tinged with that playful spark.

"Let's go see if the old girl's still dreaming."

"I can hike perfectly fine by myself. I've done it before alone."

"You know, it's not really about the hiking or proving yourself capable," he started. "It's about fellowship over a shared experience. We could have easily done this on Tython, or..." He looked over at Phoebe's bag again with a smirk. "at a cantina. Endor is just the icing on the cake."

The hike proceeded, Captain Fhirdiad reminding them of the dangers of Endor. A native of Kashyyyk, Mykel never took his safety lightly in the midst of the jungle. However, Endor posed a unique threat, as many of its more dangerous critters were so disarming with their cuteness.

The Galactic Empire had learned that lesson the hard way.

After a time, there was a pause, Fhirdiad pointing out stampeding Maramu. Quickly, he brought out his recorder, tracking the horned creatures hopping through the woods for several seconds. There were so many he could feel gentle tremors through the earth from their collective impact. Their locomotion and posture reminded him of a certain kind of marsupial.

"Ah, very cool, my sister will like that." He said aloud to the group while taking a few more wide shots of their surroundings. "Kaela fancies herself to be a beast tamer. She would have loved it out here, but my parents think she's still a wee bit too young to make such a trip yet."

Loomi took in the playfulness of the expression, an inquisitive frown forming on her face. Was there supposed to be a deeper implication there?

Ah, he wanted to go on a date with the ginger. That's what people did at cantinas probably. That made sense. She had better not pry and make that situation super embarrassing. People sure were weird, making implications but never saying them outright. It was a good thing that Loomi was smart and good at guessing.

Subsequently everyone would see a large herd of horned Maramus stampeding east of them, braying as they hopped away. Finally after a minute or two the herd was gone. Smirking underneath the helm Minerva informed the others.

"They're heading for a waterhole. There's a pretty good one back away. Let's keep moving, the cave is only an hour from us."

"I think I'd be bad at being a wild animal," Loomi noted as the Maramus herd wandered off. "I have a terrible sense of direction. I'd never remember where good places to find resources are..."

She had grown a lot, but was still air-headed in regards to a few things. That was certainly one of them.

"I don't think he'd answer even if we did. Farmboy came here to rest, let's let him." Jonyna said with a careful tone, as she followed behind.

The silence of the forest seemed to agree with Jonyna, only the sound of distant birds and creatures filling the air, as the two approached the forgotten fighter. For the most part, it seemed in one piece, outside of some rust along the landing legs, and a bit of wear on the wings.

"...even if this isn't it, I want this on the temple grounds." Jonyna practically whispered as she brushed a hand along the nose of the ship. "Restore it, put it on display for the younglings and visitors."

The Cathar drew her one of her swords, idly cutting at the vines wrapped around the legs. "I doubt the systems work. We'll probably need to tow it out of here. Thank the Force it's next to a lake, we should be able to get a ship out here just above the lake to load it into..."

Valery stepped in close beside Jonyna, her eyes sweeping over the X-wing with disbelief. The old starfighter had clearly surrendered to time, yet somehow still carried the weight of history — like it remembered the stars it once cut through, the wars it had seen, and the legend who likely sat in its cockpit.

She crouched beside the nearest landing strut, fingers brushing across a patch of flaking paint. Beneath the moss and rust, faint red markings still clung to the hull. Faded. But unmistakable.

"Even if it isn't the Red Five," she murmured, "This ship flew during a special time in history. That alone makes it worth preserving." Valery stood again and looked toward the lake, already picturing how they'd lift it out — the logistics, the effort it would take. But it was worth it. Not just for the artifact, but for what it could mean to those who came after.

"To the younglings, it'll be a story," she said with a small smile. "Something real they can touch. A reminder that we came from something, and that heroes weren't just legends in holos." She gave Jonyna a sidelong glance, her voice lowering.

"You know, this thing's probably got a flight recorder. Or pieces of one. If we're lucky, there might be echoes in the system. A trace of who flew it last. Where it came from." Valery's smirk returned, faint but familiar.

Jonyna smiled in turn. "And if anyone was gonna be able to read it, it'd be my astromech Dice." Jonyna nodded. "I just want...a reminder, ya know? Something to tell the younglings that our place in the galaxy isn't as secure as a lot of folks think it is. A reminder of a time where us Jedi were...harder to find. A remembrance for an era where the Light didn't shine so bright, but people like me had to hold it carefully. The Alliance and the NJO is everything I could've dreamed of during my time as a rebel knight, but...I don't want people to forget that, and became arrogant. That's what happened to the old order."

She paused, looking to the X-wing and brushing off some of the moss. "Plus, hey, we could make this the job of some padawans back at the temple to clean off. Good way to 'teach the newbies', as it were." Jonyna snickered. "Gotta make the young ones do all the hard labor, we're already skeletons after all, right?"

Valery's lips curved into a soft smile as she listened, the weight of Jonyna's words settling over her like a familiar cloak. She stepped closer again, resting a hand gently on the nose of the X-wing.

"You're right," she said quietly, her voice thoughtful. "It'll make for a good lesson, as well as a reminder." She silence stretch for a moment, broken only by the distant sound of the lake and the soft wind rustling through the trees. Then she smirked. "And I love the idea of making the padawans scrub moss off the wings. A little humility builds character. I'll tell them it's a sacred rite passed down from ancient Jedi teachings. They'll believe it."

A beat passed, and she tilted her head at the starfighter again.

"We'll get it out of here," Valery said. "Give it a home in the Temple where it belongs."

Her smile returned, smaller but no less sincere.

"Do we call in some back-up to get it out of here?"

"We could...or..."
She paused, pulling out and flipping open her wrist mounted comms suite. Poking at it for a moment, she smiled. "I could call in my own help."

A few minutes later, the sound of engines filled the air, as the Reaper flew down to the surface of the lake's water, idling just above it as the top of the corvette opened up. "We'll need to get it inside." She paused, blushing slightly to Val. "I uh...accidently put the cargo bay on top. Turns out I had read the blueprints upside down when I gave it to the engineers..."

Gem wandered from Padawan to Padawan as they marched, trying to see if there was some kind of trouble she could cause, but she was mostly distracted by all the sounds of birds and frogs and bugs all around them. It was as enchanting as it was distracting, and she had to remind herself to be mindful of where she was in the group so as to not fall behind or, worse, end up chasing something else. Whens he was younger she had a much harder time staying on task, and would often go hunting some helpless Knight she'd seen walking through the halls. It rarely affected her grade, or even disrupted class; in fact the only person she would disrupt would be the Knight.

But Endor was a different kind of alive from Coruscant. It felt more like Cathar, but even bigger. Denser. It was wonderful. She was gratefult here were so many Jedi about for her to stick to, otherwise she would easily have gotten lost in the forest.

"So what's so wonderous about the Cave of Wonders? Or is this one of those 'The wonder is all your own, you'll find it when we get there' kind of stuff? I swear if there's a test with a box I'm gonna scream."
