  • Intent: To create a biological molecule for adaptive use and progression of Echani technologies.

  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: Polydroxol

  • Classification: Self-Replicating Construct
  • Method of Consumption: Consumption is fatal.
  • Average Life: Indefinite provided it has access to a power source or biomass to feed on.
  • Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose: There is no nutritional value to this as ingestion causes death. The purpose of the molecule is as a natural constructor that's meant to replicate and grow, allowing for host adaptation and solution to interstellar problems, such as major ship hull breaches.
  • Weight: Light
  • Color: Fluorescent Blue
  • Resistances:
    • Energy: Very High
    • Kinetic: Average
    • Lightsaber: Very Low
    • Blast: Very Low
    • EMP/ION: High
    • Sonic: Average
    • Elemental: Very High
Special.png

  • Self-Replication: The VI molecule is capable of replicating itself nearly indefinitely so long as it is provided with energy and biomass (plant or animal matter). Only a small amount of biomass is necessary to increase the growth.
  • Anaerobic: The molecule can exist without oxygen. It does not require oxygen to survive. It can, however, survive in atmospheres with oxygen.
  • Phage: The molecule reacts by infecting and devouring other cells in order to replicate itself and grow. The cells it devours must be originally living tissue (for example it could eat a slab of nerf meat and grow from that, or it could eat a person).
  • Tensile: Strands of the VI molecule have shown great tensile strength and have been proven, in a lab setting, to be able to reach across the vacuum of space and grab onto other things. The possibility for keeping ships together, or bridging atmospheric gaps, is too much to ignore.
  • Dangerous: The molecule, though useful, is extremely dangerous. It will eat without care anything it comes across in an effort to grow.
Strengths.png

  • "Living Organism": The VI molecule is alive without being alive. It does not require anything more than energy to sustain itself and can go into hibernation when no energy is present for it to feed on, but it doesn't have the capability to think for itself, it can only do what it has been genetically programmed to do.
  • Replication: It can replicate itself by feeding on biomass.
  • Tensile: It's incredibly strong in tension.
  • Space Survivor: It can survive and thrive in the vacuum of space.
Weaknesses.png

  • Biologically Based: While it can survive in space, it's a biological organism, and the same weapons that destroy a ship could also destroy it. Getting hit in the same place as a VI skin has been put in place would defeat the purpose of the molecule in space.
  • Indiscriminate: Utilization of the VI molecule requires extreme caution, including the use of a hazmat suit as the molecule will just as readily feast on the person deploying it as it will on the biomass it's fed. It will only eat biomass, meaning living or formerly living items. It cannot eat metals or other non-living materials.
  • Expansion is Limited: If the molecule is starved of biomass, it will not expand further.
Description.png

Deep beneath a mountain on Aurion, a new subsidiary of Eshan Industrial Corporation, Ignus Black, has constructed a research center for secret projects that may never see the light of day. These "Dark Projects" are buried both for safety reasons and for security reasons. Many of the projects undertaken in this particular research facility are of a military nature, and it isn't desirable that these projects be found out by spies of foreign governments and companies. Some of the projects undertaken by the company in this location are not sanctioned by the Compact government (the Queen specifically).

One project undertaken without asking was the Emergent Molecule project. A task force was sent to collect a specimen of polydroxol. Special care was taken to avoid infection through the use of biohazard suits and proper biohazard protocols in order to avoid being taken control of by the living entity. The sample was taken back to the lab for study of its genetic data.

Through genetic engineering, the scientists were able to take the genetic makeup of the polydroxol and remove its ability to think for itself, thereby and making it an entirely separate material. Additionally, through further manipulation, they were able to make the molecule into something entirely different by simply programming its genetics to certain functions. For example, they programmed it as a bridging agent. However, in order to make it bridge large gaps, it needed to be able to replicate, so they also programmed it to ingest biomass and infused it with chlorophyll to absorb energy from light and radiation. This had the interesting side effect of giving the molecule bioluminescent properties and also resulted in the loss of a scientist who was devoured by the molecule.

Despite this unfortunate incident, testing was approved to go forward and collaboration with Echani Command was forged to test the molecule in space. In a specially controlled environment, utilizing only vessels manned by droids, then a hull was cracked in half by weapons fire, and then a container of the VI molecule was opened and fed, allowing it to perform its programmed bridging function. The molecule expanded outward, grabbed the other side of the hull, and held it in place tight enough that the hull was able to move as if it were one hull rather than two, as would normally be the case when a ship was split in half.

The molecule was deemed a success and the report was given to the EIC board and reviewed by them, stamped with approval, and subsequently approved for manufacture by the acting CEO, Raze Raste.

Note: I wasn't entirely sure whether to put this as a material or a substance so I kind of combined both templates.

Hi again, it's me the judge

So your sub is over balanced
Limited -2
Light +1
Very High +2
Average 0
Very Low -2
Low -1
Very High +2
Average 0
Very High +2
= +2, please drop two ratings so I can pass this onwards.

Also with the image source please make sure it goes to the page you found the image and not the image itself.
