Elimination of the Graug Slaveyards [Republic vs. Vulcanus]

"You have filled us with a terrible resolve."

A sizable contingent of Republic starships sped through hyperspace. It had enough firepower to be a devastating force in an under-defended system - which only governments such as the Fringe, Protectorate, and Confederacy could easily field.

Not long ago, @[member="Darth Vulcanus"] attacked Coruscant an abducted a large amount of Republic citizens. Now, Darth Vulcanis and his organization on Sabarene faced impending destruction. In one attack, the Graug had been labeled a threat to the continued existence of the Republic that must be subdued - or eliminated if it was deemed their submission to Republican ideals was impossible.

Heading this task force, Daella Apparine took charge just as if it was a mission in the mostly lawless Tingel Arm. In fact, despite usually not being proactive in business outside of the Tingel Arm, she was one of the Jedi Councilors that was vocal about the counter-attack on Vulcanus. Her experience in dealing with rampant warlords gave her the credentials to plan the attack on Sabarene. She called forth what personal allies she could for this endeavor - many of them having been seen at the Ossus Jedi Academy.

Using Daella’s advice, the Republic Armed Forces commanders devised a set of Rules of Engagement. It was simple: Graug are seen as hostiles until either dead or unconscious due to their reputation and any prisoners and non-Graug civilians found must be detained for their safety unless otherwise hostile. Overall, the Republic aimed to rescue many of the civilians captured by Darth Vulcanis - yet another primary objective was the permanent dismantling of his power base on the planet.

Bouncing account the south of the galaxy and sticking to robust hyperlanes that would not draw the Fringe’s attention, the Republic’s fleet looped around to Sabarene in an efficient yet long, several day journey. Republic Intelligence had to dig to extreme depths for the knowledge of hyperlanes in the area as well as the location of Vulcanus’s base of operations.

But eventually, the Republic made it to Sabarene - the headquarters of Darth Vulcanus’s Graug Slaveyards.

----------------------

Once in Sabarene’s orbit, the Republic fleet began to make attempts to secure the space around them. Hostile ships would be engaged quickly and efficiently. Assault ships brought Republic soldiers and Jedi to the ground.

While the objective in space was clear, planetside soldiers and Jedi were faced with several different tasks. One such task was to disable the factories used by Vulcanus to produce machinery. Another was to take out the headquarters of his Graug Slaveyards himself. For those more diplomatic, they would also have the chance to go out and meet with the P’w’eck refuges that settled on the world and attempt to prevent them from getting in harms way.

Remaining in the fleet aboard a capital ship, Daella paid attention to the initial reports of the mission and waited for any changes in the battle’s weather.

And so they had come, foolish of them...They would find only death here. Vulcanus had made it back to Sabarene with his remaining men and the Republic probably had no idea what they were walking into to. Gratos had been vacated of Graug long before the Sith Wars even began and now, the Graug military stood 75 billion strong thanks to the culture of the creatures dictating that all males (who made up the majority of the population) were to be warriors and workers alike. Even some willing females were allowed to join the fight, but they were few and far between. Sabarene had no shields or guns like Coruscant, but it had massive hallows built deep under the planets surface and they could withstand orbital bombardments of nearly every kind. The best part was that Krag had begun construction of the hallows in Sabarene's dense mountain ranges and thus the only way into the hallows were through mountain passages that could withstand even a direct nuclear blast. Sabarene had, in its own right, become a fortress world of the Graug. There would be casualties and there were millions of Graug on the surface of the planet who would be forced to engage in fighting right away, but losses were acceptable.

Darth Vulcanus sat deep under the planet's crust, his throne of bones encircled with force fueled magma that sent off an eerie glow across the chambers of his throne room. The Graug would have no trouble fighting on a planet with such a strong darkside presence and Krag's own darkside power flowing up and out of the hallows. He could sense them, the Republic ships as they entered the system and slipped past the Fringes hyperlane defense. It couldn't have been easy but, just as Krag had with Coruscant, all it took was a little bit of persistence. In all honesty, Darth Vulcanus was taken by surprise by the Republic's finding of him on Sabarene but he supposed it was to be expected after he kidnapped hundreds of civilians and wounded Jedi. Of course, by this time most of the prisoners had been killed or mutated in experiments and were well beyond saving. The slaves of the yards, however, were still very much alive and Krag imagined that the Republic would hit them first. No matter, he would slaughter them to the last man and force them to remove themselves from his planet.

Looking to Horde Master Jakoath, Krag said, "The Jedi have come..I can sense them. Prepare all of the Hordes and send two up to the surface to meet the Republic onslaught. Be sure to send a Horde up to each of the six entrances and keep them deep enough to survive bombardments."

"It will be done, Warlord" The Graug hissed back and bowed his head, "What of you, my lord?"

Krag chuckled deeply and slowly rose from his throne, "I will teach these Jedi the true meaning of fear. Bring any slaves in the hallows up to the surface and kill them all, show these Republic scum that I care not for the lives of their innocent."

Diana stood next to her bladesister @[member="Daella Apparine"] with a placid expression on her face. From her neck down she wore her custom made armor, having given up her anonymous hunt for Sith and having slightly returned to activity within the Jedi Order. She was here today for that specific reason, because Daella had asked her to come back and help, and so she had.

She stood silently, watching holo-read outs and battle reports. For now she would hang back just as Daella was doing, watching and waiting for something truly spectacular to happen.

Briefly she recalled an encounter she had with the Graug and their strange war machines back on Ossus. She had killed a strange animal they used in combat and for a flicker of time had faced their leader, though later Joshua had taken on the creature. She thought back for a time, then turned to regard the planet ahead of them, her face remaining listless.

Truthfully Diana had no idea what the Graug had expected, they attacked the capital of the Republic, kidnapped thousands, and killed Jedi. Retaliation had been inevitable.

She frowned slightly at that thought. It made her sad that war was so common place within this galaxy, that attacking and counter-attacking was so natural that it did not even required second thoughts. The idea made her uncomfortable, though she knew it was the way of the galaxy, no matter the species. Silently Diana watched through the viewport, eyes shifting between bright flashes of light.

Kalen Esmara had fallen into wandering after the incident that ended with him getting prosthetices for his legs and his left arm. He had left the Republic and made his way into the fringe space living his life as a small time spacer doing jobs for convoys and such in the fighter he had picked up. It was a Remnant-class multirole fighter that he had procured from The Brotherhood shortly after they disbanded. Now he used it as his personal craft. He had been meeting with Darth Vulcanus about possibilities of a job that was when all hell broke loose looking at the being before him Kalen raised an eyebrow. "So about that job can I start now?"

Krag looked at the sad and pitiful being before him, his body had become a twisted concoction of metal and flesh it disgusted the Graug Warlord. How was a renegade Jedi, who had obviously been weak enough to allow himself to become disfigured so, supposed to help the mighty Graug Hordes? Even so, Krag had begun to realize the importance of darksiders sticking together after the genocides committed by the Jedi and Fel. Every darksider would have a chance to prove their worth, the weak would die on the battlefield and would no longer weigh down the cause but the strong would thrive through conflict and help them prosper. To that end, Krag put aside some of his irrational hate and spoke to the apprentice

"Before me stands only a weakling who will weigh down the cause...prove yourself strong and I shall accept you, die and you are weak and will get no sympathy from me."

Kalen smirks and turns walking towards the door he stops and looks over his shoulder holding up a fist he clenched it. "It is not me but the Jedi who will die today I owe them for abandoning me after I gave everything for their cause." With that the young man turned and walked towards where his fighter was landed preparing to take the fight to where he was best in the air where they would be at his mercy. @[member="Darth Vulcanus"] @[member="Daella Apparine"] @[member="Diana Moridena"]

Once again, the Jedi and Graug Forces would clash against one another. However, this time; the Order was taking the offensive against the Sith's influence in the system.

The people that was kidnapped from Coruscant was taken to slave yards where they would be "harvested", and no followerd of the lightside would allow the darksider to perform such hidious activity without consequence.

A series of around 10 transports with 2 Squadrons of X-Wing Starfighters headed planetside... their mission was to secure the area around the factories that supplied the Sith's machinery and destroy it, make sure that the machines of war were completely dismantled.

In one of the transports, the corellian Knight known as Vexander Graves stood ready with his Covert 7 armor, his sniper rifle in the back and his lightsaber in the belt along with several other gadgets that would be needed. His team was the one in charge to open the breach for the demolition teams to get inside.

Vexander was almost in the exit of the transport, standing by the door and ready to jump first to battle to provide an area for his team to deploy... he knew that other Jedi would head into battle and would follow in just a few moments; but they would most likely had different missions.

Looking by the window at the escorts of the shuttle while they began the entry to the atmosphere, the Knight proceeded to report his status at the Mission Command Center.

"This is Vexander Graves, ETA to the target: 5 minutes." looking back at the men in his transport, the man proceeded to project a sense of calmness around all the men in the transport, regardless if they were Jedi or not... he did that feat with the help of the Force while he remained completely ready and holded a strong grip at the strap attached to the roof that allowed him to remain standing up.

Soon, they would be in battle... and he would charge at the Sith Forces just like he did in the Jedi Temple.

Waiting at the back of the transport, the Pantoran Jedi Padawan Nasika Serizawa was busy meditating while also giving silent prayers. Not for herself but more for those down on the planet who they would need to save. She feared for how many would still be alive by the time this was all over and, being one to not want to have lives wasted, only prayed that not a one would be lost. But then that was likely too much to ask for in such a time.

Nasika had seen the Garug in action on Courascant. She'd seen how vicious they could be in battle and what sort of weapnry they had. Given that they'd endured when they attacked the Jedi temple, Nasika knew this would be one hell of a fight they were about to enter. But she had her own plans to follow. With no actual saber, only using a high setted training saber, Nasika would do her best to avoid an actual fight with a Garug. But she did plan to sneak around and try to free the slaves. She knew it would not be a quick and clean as she hoped, but at the same time she knew she could not just try to force her way through the forces in time to save any slaves.

As they came closer to the target she finally stood and readied herself, still giving prayers in her head.

As the transport shuttle rattled Padawan Terrano fiddled with his knee brace.

The persistent injury kept him grounded, made him realise the limits of the human condition. No matter how strongly the fires of justice burned charging in alone would be beyond a foolish endeavour and a dead Jedi did nobody any good. He wore a grim expression while he contemplated this, of course Hal was usually in possession of such an expression but on this occasion there was cause.

A Jedi must protect the weak and defenceless from evil.

A tenet of the past that he would aim to stick by for the rest of his existence, it almost felt like failure that they had gotten this far. The innocents of Coruscant that had been taken, how many had already perished? How many were still suffering? Why hadn't he been there to try and protect them? That was a train of thought that he needed to pacify before it grew, passion always threatening on the foreground.

A calm washed over him as it did with the others in the transport, courtesy of @[member="Vexander Graves"].

He tucked his right trouser leg back into his boot, hiding the protective gear that if seen by enemies would most definitely be exploited. They would touch down soon, his first real mission had come.

Sitting in her seat, she brought her breathe in and out, calming herself in this brief moment of peace before the sudden outbreak of battle. Letting her eyes pass over both her friend, Vexander and the other young man, whom she recalled being Hal Terrano, she could tell both were as determined as she was to get the fighting under way and over in the briefest amount of time possible.

She had not been on Coruscant on the day of the Graug invasion, she had not experienced the ferocity of the Graug forces, nor had she witnessed the death and pain that entrenched the city world as reconstruction commenced. Like always Tython seemed to be have been kept out of the loop once more, leaving the Shi'ido feeling guilty that there could have been nothing she could have done to stop those civilians from being kidnapped. However she had the time now to fix what had been wrought, now was the time for a counter-strike.

Bringing herself onto her feet, she felt herself relax slightly, picking up on the Knights attempt to calm those within the shuttle. Adding her own efforts to the technique, she strengthened the wave, hoping that the combined efforts of the pair would provide some sense of calm to those in the shuttle before they were thrown out into the beginnings of battle. She tensed as she felt the shuttle buckle under the pressure of the planets atmosphere. It won't be long now, she thought, relieving herself of her brown cloak, revealing the various pieces of armor that adorned her tunic and pants, memoirs from the Sith war.

Ready for whatever awaited the Jedi, the Jedi Master stood between the two men, anxiously awaiting their arrival. Ready to face the hordes.

The ship headed towards the factories began to shake violently as they finished the planet-entry. It was to be expected, anti-air turrents were definetely aiming them while the X-Wing squadrons were screening their approach... primary analysis estimated that they would be landing around 3 miles away from the targets... and although it seemed to be a long walk, it was the closest that they could get... and it would be a huge struggle to get to the facilities... still, the transports were big enough and had everything for them to get there... and the Jedi inside were ready.

Although he was not the highest ranking Jedi of the group, he was lending his military expertize to the group and provided his input on the matter.

Heavy fire was hitting the ships, but the pilot was confident that he would take them to the ground. A communication came to all Jedi in the transport.

"Touch down in 30... 29... 28..."

Tension began to rise among the troops... and Vexander took his lightsaber in his hand and tightened the connection to the Force to spread as much calmness as possible... and with that, he proceeded to give a few words that he used to hear from his Commanding Officers in the Republic Military when he was about to get into the battlefield.

"Remember, the Force is with us... we cannot let others suffer attacks like the one we had on Coruscant..."

Vexander's blue eyes were resolute, he looked at each one of the present Jedi and prepared himself.

"...spread to the flanks to divert fire, Master Gan has the lead and she'll provide commands..." looking at the Shi'do Master, the young man nodded with his serious demeanor in order to let her know that he would be behind with the rest of the teams.

The voice through the comm once again could be heard "Get ready... 5..." the door of the shuttle opened revealing a huge battlefield with graugs approaching to intercept them, however, the X-Wing's above were providing cover fire for them to land "4...3..."

Vexander ignited his cyan blade just in time to deflect a small volley aimed at them when the door opened "2...1..."

"MOVE OUT TEAM! FOR THE ORDER!"

Drake looked around the transport at the other Jedi with him. His own teacher sent calmness through the transport. The rest of the Jedi with him, they gave him strength. He would fight for them, and with them. The Padawan nodded his head at the words of Vexander, and took his lightsaber into his hand, holding it in a tight grip. Drake prepared himself as the voice began the countdown.

His muscles were tense. In fact, everything about him was tense at that moment. Drake didn't feel scared, no, he felt anxious. Anxious to be in the heat of battle.

I'll be at your side master. Drake thought to himself. He thought it was funny, thinking to himself, and pretending his mentor could hear.

Drake ignited the dark blue blade of his lightsaber as the doors opened, and jumped out, quickly hitting away a shot with his lightsaber. He looked to the other Jedi around him. "This is gonna be fun..." the ex-smuggler muttered to himself, rather sarcastically. Drake scrambled to the side of the transport door, allowing others to move through it easily. He hit another shot away.

Krag, warlord of the Graug and the last Dark Lord of the Sith, marched through the caverns that took him to the surface of the planet. The tunnels were full of growling and hissing Graug and the body heat alone was enough to cook an egg on the floor, but it didn't bother Krag in the slightest. The beast of war just marched through, pushing warriors out of his path with harsh shoves and strong elbows. Soon enough, the dimly lit tunnel became a flooded tube of sunlight as he approached the exit to the surface and witnessed the burning rays of the sun. His footsteps seemed to crush rock with every step as he moved out onto a mountainous ledge overlooking a steep hill that lead to ground level. The Republic transports could already be seen landing their forces in the distance, to get in close quarters with them the Graug had quite a run ahead of them but that was no matter. Graug were experts in their trade of banzai war tactics, they could place rounds with decent accuracy even when running full bore towards the enemy. The casualties would most likely be high, but what else could be expected from a million man charging line of Graug forces?

Krag looked to the hill below him and saw one of his many hordes slowly pouring out of another cavern entrance, their Horde Master striding out in front with armor covered in bones and other such trophies. The Horde Master stood on the edge of the mountain's steep hill and slowly drug a large double sided sword from a sheath on his back. Thrusting it high up into the air with both hands he roared, [In Graug] "The God of War sides with us!" the beast roared and his horde cried a warcry in the wake of his echoing voice, "give to the Jedi, nothing but take from them EVERYTHING!" yet another thunderous warcry as the the Horde master jumped onto the steep hill and began his half run, half slide down the hill and towards the Republic gunships. The rest of his million man Horde followed behind, some raised long curved swords and raved while others shot explosive arrows , slugs or sonic rounds

Glycon Warbeasts stood on top of the hill, their war riders making them lower their massive mass-driver cannons to bare on the landing Republic troops. CRACK the sounds of the Mass-Driver cannons shook the very foundations of the mountains, their massive payload traveling downrange faster than any blaster or normal slug could. Snipers using anti-material rifles provided overwatch for the troops charging down the hill, there rounds able to punch through almost any unshielded target which included gunships. Krag grinned cynically at the horde that was rushing to war, but the sounds of human screaming soon drug his attention away to a higher mountain top. Krag watched as a screaming form dropped past him and smashed against rocks below his ledge. The Graug had begun to execute the slaves that weren't in the yards, taking them to the tops of mountains and throwing them off so that their screams would echo throughout the battlefield. Krag could already feel the darkside presence of their deaths...and it felt good.

Taking one last deep breath, Krag crossed his arms and watched the battle...

Unlike the other Jedi who were going to the factories, Antares was going straight to the supposed headquarters. While the other Jedi took down the factories, he would be going straight to the leader. Underground if necessary. Someone had to, and if he did indeed die, then his Jedi friends would have succeeded where he failed.

This wasn't a mission of revenge or even vengeance. This was a mission of necessity. And because of that, hopefully, the Jedi, Republic citizens and slaves would be saved.

Antares Eta-6A starfighter landed closer to @[member="Darth Vulcanus"] than the other Jedi, but further enough away that he wouldn't be swarmed. Though his ship was smoking when he landed. "Fix the ship as best you can." He said to the astromech just as he exited the ship. He wouldn't be able to cover the droid.

Reaching back into the ship, he drew his Republic ballistic shield. It would be useful in such situations. After experiencing the heat from the Sith's pyrokinesis, he would come prepared. The shield was that preparation.

He was already moving forward, his presence within the Force concealed while he moved. The Sith couldn't win. Not today. Not here.

Standing up as well, MArek shrugged off his robe, the black magnus metal armor hadn't changed since he'd forged it, minus a few scratches here and there. The Jedi were all read for this, he could sense it, he was sure. He placed a hand on Rasu's shoulder and gave to woman a warm smile, followed by a nod. Making the padawans get sick because of PDA before a war was not a good game plan.

When the door flung open, he jumped, landing on the ground with a heavy thud. Using the force he called his saber hilt to his hand and twirled it into a reverse grip, then thumbing the ignition as a smile grew on his face. Krag was here, he hadn't seen the bastard in ages. T'was time to catch up with old friends. It was for this reason, he donned the very helmet he once saw as a prison, as a form of recognition, one that if the Gurag who recognized it saw it, they'd run. Fast.

Vulpesen's paladin split the air over Sabrene, bringing him close to the the stronghold of evil. "Torrevaso, ready to party." His face held a wide grin as he searched the battlefield, seeing @[member="Antares Windu"] just below him. "Entering..." He flicked his ahnd and Ace dropped the ramp. With a running start, Vulpesen charged and launched himself out of the transport, allowing the Ashlan wolf to steer it away. "Now!" The wind whipped his robes around, causing them to flap behind him as he descended towards the horde. "Salutations, Graug!" His golden saber's rose from the hilt in his hand, moving into a spinning slash which took down several of the monsters in his landing. The shadow had entered and considering these kathpups had tried to blow up his home, he was not particularly happy. Especially since they also ruined his day off.

ANtares turned around to look at @[member="Vulpesen"] coming out of the air, he only grunted and said nothing. Instead, he ignited his lightsaber, swayed around the swing of a Graug's arm, and with a flip it was decapitated. It was in the way of him and it's leader, poor beast. And he was gone.

Antares wasn't going to wait for anyone, he had to capture that Sith Lord, he was the only thing that was holding the Graug together, and once he died then the Graug would break, after a few more of them were dead. He was a silent black spectre, and when he was met with a wall of charging gruag, he brought his shield up to his body, and it blocked the shots as he charged.

He was slowing making his progress to the Sith. It was only a matter of time until it was split in half upon the floor.

One of the perks of getting bought out by Silk Holdings was the sudden and pleasant availability of the Jo'henry-class Rare Materials Mining Vessel. Ugly as sin, yellow as O'reen, blockily mandibled and eighty metres long, it really shouldn't have been part of the long-range attack force, and Junior Senator Rel Connory of Eshan shouldn't either. Then again, the rare hyperroutes to get here had come from this particularly utilitarian ship, at least in part, and from its eccentric captain.

Mia would kill him. He'd live.

The Jo'henry sped through the conspicuous lack of fleet assets. This was a secret base, not a staging point. Any substantial space forces which the Graug boasted were apparently elsewhere, not that they could have kept a fleet operational based on this one primitive and remote world

Which left the Bard plotting a very straight course to the slave pens.
