OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Rusty's Custom Arms and Armaments
  • Model: ETM Mk 1
  • Affiliation: Closed-Market
  • Modularity: No
  • Production: Semi-Unique (Production run of 5)
  • Material: Durasteel, Plastoid, Microprocessor
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Easy installation
  • Records user's performance in training sims and helps compensate for weaknesses in battle
  • Holonet multiplayer compatible
Strengths:
  • Compensation- Once enough data has been collected, the module will compensate for the user's shortcomings in battle. For instance, if the user has a tendency to jerk the trigger during rapidfire, the module will fire the weapon sooner in order to compensate.
  • Easy Installation- Once the module has collected the requisite data, it can easily be installed in nearly any commercially available firearm that can accept a drop in trigger kit. No special tools required.
  • Holonet Compatible- Training in Holonet multiplayer games dramatically reduces training time, as they allow the user to engage in a wide variety of scenarios and provide near instantaneous feedback on performance.
Weaknesses:
  • Paired for Life- Once the module has been trained for a particular weapon and a particular user, it cannot be unpaired. Anyone else who tries to use said weapon will experience suboptimal performance.
  • Time Consuming- Training takes at least 100 hours in traditional simulators, and 20 hours in Holonet multiplayer matches. Failure to complete training will result in vastly degraded performance.
  • Yo Mom's a Ho- Use in Holonet multiplayer can result in some...unfortunate side effects. Because insults over voice chat can have a way of degrading an opponent's performance, the module may pick up on that. If it does, it will record the insults that cause the most degradation and play them back in battle. May also attempt to call opponents for dinner. Caution is advised in stealth situations, as the ETM can't be shut off for 30 minutes once activated.
DESCRIPTION
The ETM is an invaluable tool for anyone looking to improve their performance in battle. Even the most experienced shooters have their bad habits, and the ETM can help them reduce or eliminate them altogether, if they're willing to put in the work to train the module.

The ETM starts life as a realistically weighted controller for training simulations. It can be ordered in Shotgun, Rifle, Carbine, or Pistol configuration. The controller is compatible with most commercially available training sims and Holonet multiplayer games. The controller contains a number of sensors and recording devices that interface with the sim or game to record the user's performance over time. As it gets used to the user, it uses a set of algorithms to improve the user's performance in the game.

Once a sufficient amount of data has been collected, the end results are programmed into the ETM itself, which is a drop in trigger module. The module is then installed into the user's weapon of choice. So long as the weapon is designed to accommodate aftermarket modifications, installation is easy and requires no special tools. If the weapon is not designed to accommodate aftermarket modifications, RCAA recommends you choose a different weapon, as the ETM is not designed to be modified.

Once installed, the ETM will use the data collected from the training sims to correct flaws in the user's performance. Though it's not a miracle worker, it can compensate for things like poor breath or trigger control, flinching, or any one of a number of little things that can make a big difference in a fight. Compensation mode is activated via a second trigger. Once activated, it won't shut off for a minimum of 30 minutes to prevent accidental deactivation.

You train it to adjust to your flaws as a shooter in sims, and then install it in a real gun. As to the level of correction:

Once installed, the ETM will use the data collected from the training sims to correct flaws in the user's performance. Though it's not a miracle worker, it can compensate for things like poor breath or trigger control, flinching, or any one of a number of little things that can make a big difference in a fight.
It uses the data corrected to cancel out known bad habits as much as possible.
