Special.png

  • Miniaturized Particle Accelerators: These particle accelerators fire sequentially to create a quantum wave of bosons in a steady stream towards their target.
Strengths.png

  • Chaos Particles: The effects of these quantum waves of bosons is chaotic. Upon contact with the target, they collapse back into particles in various different states that react violently with what they've contacted. The effects on shields can be as chaotic as causing them to rupture to basically no effect depending on the particle, and for armor it can cause it to rupture or melt or simply deform. No two particles are the same and the effects are often different.
Weaknesses.png

  • Uncontrolled: Because the system fires particles that decay of their own volition it's impossible to determine the outcome of what firing these cannons will be. It could do nothing at all, after all.
Description.png

The concept is simple and yet complex. Particles accelerated in quick succession in a sequential spiral create a quantum boson wave. When this wave strikes a target, the particles rapidly decay back to their normal state, but this decay process is chaotic in nature and the effects of the decay vary. By creating a gun that fires a single helix of particles at a target, it's entirely possible to rip a ship in half or to do nothing to it at all. The downside of the gun is not knowing the outcome of using the weapon, which is entirely why it isn't ever the sole weapon type to be placed on a ship. Relying on the unreliable, aka chaos, is not a smart military tactic. But in the event the reaction is positive, the outcome is highly favorable, making having a few of these on a vessel well worth it. Because rapid decay can be so chaotic and destructive, the potential stopping power of the weapon cannot be truly charted. It can range anywhere from none to extreme destruction. Since the particles never decay the same way, they will always have some sort of effect when fired continuously.
