Major Locations:
The Imperial capital city of Halaban, which is the seat of power for the Stormborn Empire. The entire city itself is home to 8 million citizens, some of which are stationed Imperial guards. It is divided into three main sections which also signify the classes of the populace. The poor district, referred to as the Dregs, the middle class, known as the Mall and is the largest district, and finally the Heights which is the richer districts and referred to as such because of the area being on a raised section of hills that overlooks the rest of the city.

The old ruined city of Kullcor, which once used to be the main city of its own kingdom of Qutenar. It once housed over 10 million people before inevitably being destroyed by some unknown force. Originally it was the grander cities in the entire world before its destruction. Some blame it on the original ruling power of the city, which was a group of “magic users” known as the Sect of the Skyborn.

The Tyrant’s Legs is the remains of a large statue that was carved to be 300 feet tall over 500 years ago. It was commissioned by the tyrannical ruler of the kingdom of Dulock, Gerard Logai, as a testimonial to himself to be the grandest of all rulers in the world. In the grand uprising that lead to his overthrow the statue was ripped down with only the legs remaining. It is currently located within the large plains within Dulock itself.

The Temple of the Heaven Born is located on the highest peak within the kingdom of Frezier. It is the most holy of places where many from all over the world come to pay respects and give blessings to the gods, or “Heaven Born”. To reach it everyone must climb the grand steps, a carved out path from the base to the top that had claimed the lives of over 50 men while it was built. Some of the greater rules of the world are buried within the temple’s halls while it is tended to by a group of holy men and women known as the Chosen.

Major Location:

Force Nexus: The Force Nexus on Effekt had been created hundreads of years ago by a group of forces users, elieved to be sorcerers in a failed attempt to try and harness ultimate power. The result was the complete destruction of the city of Kullcor where they’d ruled. The Nexus itself was created thanks to this event by absorbing the energy of the hundreds of dead citizens and become a darkside Nexus. However without anyone to use it the Nexus itself became dormant until it was reawaken thanks to the Sith Lord Darth Arcanix and the ruler of the planet Effekt, where the Nexus is, Empress Nimue Stormson. They’d used the energy from a large tribe of slain dwergi, man-beast creatures who live on the planet, to repower it where it currently remains within the ruins.

Size: Small

Intent: To add a major location which will be part of the planet's storyline, as well as Nimue Stormborns. It will be a plot device and a means of trying to create a weapon for the Empress before becoming a major issue that may or may not need to be destoryed because of the problems it causes with the people of the planet.

Culture: The people of Effekt all believe in the ideas of gods, or Heaven Born. There are five altogether and all are worshiped and prayed to base on what they represent; i.e. the god of bountiful meals is prayed to during dinner but it is also the god of the oceans, meaning it is prayed to during fishing or travel overseas as well.

Three main holidays/days of celebration are traditionally devoted to the New Year, the gods and the forming of the Stormborn Empire. These are the Days of New Life, the Feast of Stars and the Day of Concordance. Sports such as jousting, archery, and juggling are common, but there is a period during the start of summer where a grand tournament of games is held during the Days of New Life

Effekt only has two season, summer and winter. Summer is the longer season, lasing up to 260 days, while winter only 140. However during this time the cold weather can reach as far as freezing and stay that way for over a week. To prepare for the long winter people tend to stock up on food and keep it in storage before it becomes too cold to grow anything.

Day-to-day life usually consists of people giving one brief prayer in the morning to the gods, in the hopes that the day will be well and they will be successful, before going about their jobs. Men and women work either at their homes or at whatever jobs they may have, fishing or hunting etc, while the children who are too young to take on apprenticeships stay at home and are cared for by a House Mother; basically a nanny. By the age of ten children are given the opportunity to become apprentices to whatever job they wish to have. This is their version of teaching as they learn anything and everything about their future carrier through the master provided for them, often working with them as well. A child can chose a new one if wished but it is usually an expensive transition, depending on the job. While some chose to follow the career of their parents, which saves time and money, others can become something else if they so choose.

Technology: Originally, about 300 years ago, Effekt technology was no more advanced than a steam engine. But when the travelers from other parts of the galaxy had discovered it and its people eventual trade began to where Effekt now has the same basic technology as other societies in the galaxy; with the exception of space travel.

History:
Over 2,000 years ago Effekt was divided not only by the continents and the sea but by the five major kingdoms that ruled over all the lands. Each kingdom was its own independent power with its own ruling house of power. The kingdoms included Dulock, ruled by the Logai Household, Frezier, ruled by House Borish, Qutenar, ruled by the Ironwood House, Bendar, ruled by House Stormson, and Greedar, ruled by the House Nearlock. Each kingdom had its own strengths and weaknesses, be it military, political or tradable resource, which gave them more power over the others. This had kept them all in moderate peace between each of them, despite the turmoil or wars that may have taken place within each kingdom. Never had any of them tried to rise against the other.

During this time one of the greater powers that everyone respected and feared was magic, which would later turn out to be aspects of the force granted to certain people. Most magic users had become healers or sages to the royal powers. Others, however, had banded together into their own little groups that deemed themselves more powerful than man and thus were meant to rule them. The greatest of these accomplishments was a group called the Sect of the Skyborn who had claimed the city of Kullcor. But they only held that claim for 100 years before the city, and most of the population, were destroyed by some great catastrophe that may believe was caused by the Sect themselves by their own magic. Since then many have feared magic and, in some cases, have killed those who possess the power.

1,000 years later the kingdom of Benda and House Stormson had begun a small but effective campaign to take over the other kingdoms through marriage rights and wagers and the like. Within 100 years they’d managed to secure both kingdoms of Freizer and Greedar, one through marriage and the other by inciting a revolution. The remaining kingdoms of Dulock and Qutenar had partnered into their own superpower that kept the Stormson’s at bay for the next 500 years.

By the end of those 500 years, however, Effekt had finally been discovered by space travelers from the rest of the known galaxy. The original group was said to be Rodian traders who’d landed in the hopes of refueling their ship. When they landed within the Stormson kingdoms at first they’d been feared as demons or heralds sent from the gods, but upon further communication it was made clear they were mortals as the rest of the Effektians.

They’d told of how they came from a larger galactic society and how they had far advanced technology than what the Effektians had, many people being amazed by this sudden revelation. The then king of the Stormson kingdoms, Brutus, had feared the technology and the presence of other species from space would be devastating towards the people. His brother, however, Prince Archibald, had seen a grander opportunity in making pacts with the other worlds and people. When the disagreement between them had grown it ended with Archibald killing his brother and taking the throne to now rule the Stormson kingdoms.

What Archibald was truly after was the technology and weapons from the galaxy to use in overthrowing the remaining kingdoms of Effekt. After opening up further relations and, from there, trading their valuable metals of gold, silver and the like for weapons the Stormborn kingdoms now had the firepower to overthrow Dulock and Qutenar. Once they had been conquered all were now under the banner of the Stormson’s, who then fashioned their new rule into the now ruling Stormborn Empire.

Since that time the Empire had helped to integrate the technologies gained from the other species into their culture. With it there came a marked improvement in transportation, medicine, military strength and food productivity. However Effekt itself has remained quiet in the galaxy, some more traditional powers still standing in thinking it’s too dangerous to travel beyond their planet. Still trade is kept between the species by trading their valuable riches in exchange for further technological advancements.

Notable PCs: Nimue Stormson

Intent: To be a planet ruled by Nimue Stormson, which factors into her story of trying to be a stronger leader and what faction she’ll chose to through her lot in with. It may also act as a crucial planet for resources, both conventional and with the force.
