Educating The Future (Coryth)

"Of course, Phylis." Once more Coryth offered what power she could to help her complete and seal the holocron at last. With the final click, the redhead opened her eyes and watched as Phylis laid on the bench.

"Yes, I believe it's time to activate it." She was quite curious to see the results and just what they'd created.

Coryth eagerly leaned forward and pressed the button to activate it. And the holocron sprang to her life in her image, "Welcome to the Chronicle of Light. I'm Jedi Master Coryth Elaris. How may I assist you? There are a number of topics we can discuss between Healing, Illusions, and Alkahest. Where would you like to begin?" The redhead seemed pleased to see herself standing there.

"So now do we need to put in the proper security protocols to make sure each section is locked off so only those with the proper talents and skills can gain access to the lessons?"

“Hmm, yes. Come now, let’s get this going.”
The scheme was quite simple, and because this was a Force artefact the commands were transmitted telepathically. Since the crystal was imprinted with their two minds only they could make changes.
“The crystals and the matrix can detect the presence of the Light Side and its strength. What’s more, they can take note of the activator and assess visual and auditory cues to see if that person is a Jedi or not. Finally, they can provide limited telepathic probing to ascertain the identity of the person holding it. It’s never going to be perfect, but only a Jedi should be able to access it. As the shell of this is made with Alkahest metal it should deter any Sith or Dark Adept trying to use it. Hmm, unless they have very thick gloves!”

This established, they could program their parts of the holocron as they wished. How? Handwave powers, since this writer is not adept in mystical crystalline programming!

Coryth nodded, intrigued by exactly how it all worked out exactly. Holocrons were extremely interesting items. That was for sure.

Closing her eyes she worked through her side of the holocron, placing in various security measures, challenges and puzzles that would lock each section of her lessons within the holocron. Finally she seemed satisfied and withdrew. The efforts had been a bit exhausting but well worth it in her eyes. "Well, I think that covers it for my side."

After a little bit longer on her own part, Phylis also nodded.
“I believe my part is complete too. It’s so exciting, our own holocron!” Phylis said enthusiastically.
She gave Coryth an impulsive hug, then pulled back, looking a little contrite. “Sorry, got a bit excited,” she said, blushing a little.

“Anyway, I’m going to keep this with me until such time as the Jedi Order gets their act together and has somewhere secure to store its holocrons again. Did you want something to eat or drink before we move on to Alkahest?”

Coryth smiled brightly. "It is!" She said, hugging Phylis in return. "Oh, it's fine, dear. Don't worry about it. You don't have to worry about what's proper or not around me. So, don't worry a bit."

The redhead nodded, "It seems like a wise idea. Though, I have my doubts that the Order can get it's act together anytime soon." She wasn't a fan of the Order any longer. They'd done enough to her and caused her enough harm for her to no longer trust them in any form. "Something to eat, I think would be wonderful."

Phylis led the way to the dining room where Nibbles was waiting expectantly, and Six-Nine had laid out some dishes.
The droid beeped reprovingly. “Yes, yes, we had things to do,” Phylis replied briskly. More chattering. “You little flirt!” Phylis said, looking at Coryth. “He’s concerned you don’t eat enough so didn’t want me starving you. Hmmph!”

Once they’d say and begun eating, Phylis started to plan their next move. “The staff is an idea I’ve had for a long time. Several smaller crystals inside the shaft to focus your enemy to a large one in the tip. That should allow a laser focus of your energy. And yes, a good weighty thing to smack someone with!”

Coryth grinned at Phylis and little Nibbles. And of course there was Six-Nine too. She took a seat beside Phylis and soon chuckled at the droid's comment. "I'm not underweight!" She protested, "I've just always been this tiny." Her voice lighthearted and joyful. Clearly she wasn't that offended, just teasing mostly.

Listening to Phylis, Coryth nodded, her smile growing brighter. "It's an interesting idea to say the least. The focusing would be of great help I think. Plus I do love the idea of being able to whack someone with it. Some people, just need a good thump on the head from time to time."

Her thoughts drifted to the crystals. "Do you have crystals on hand? Or shall we go crystal hunting?" It had been sometime since she'd gotten to do that, and that idea did excite her a good deal.

“I have small crystals for the interior, but I was hoping you might be able to help me find a capstone as it were. Hmm, the crystal which will be the centrepiece is something which you must choose, it must attune to you, so yes, we should find something you like. Do you have any suggestions?”

She gave Nibbles some food, and even Greenie her little lizard came down to have something as well.

Coryth nodded, munching on her food while Phylis spoke. "Hmmm...." The redhead pondered the options of crystals that she knew of, great and small with unique properties. "Well, there is the Mantle of the Force. I know Revan had purchased it somewhere doing the time he was searching for the Star Forge. As far for it's current location, I'm not too sure where it could be. It could take some research and searching before we find it, but I've no doubt its out there somewhere. Also personally I have a Solari Crystal from back when I helped on Rhen Var. It might make an interesting addition to the focusing crystals but not being the main star as it were. What do you think?"

Phylis was suddenly filled with great vigour and enthusiasm. “The Mantle, of course!” she cried.
“I have long searched for that and the Heart of the Guardian, and your saying this must be the will of the Force, as I have just received news of it.”

The Jedi Master got to her feet, dinner still not finished, and hurried over to a stack of datacards. After rooting among them for a moment she produced it triumphantly and came back to the table.

“I discovered a clue in the records of Jedi Master Bastila Shan. As you say, Revan acquired it during his quest for the Star Forge. Crucially, this ancient record notes that he took it with him when he went to confront the Sith Emperor. However, he did not have it later still when he was revived. Hmm, the Mantle is not attested again in the historical record, but I believe I know where it went – Zakuul and the Infinite Empire.”

Phylis, if even given a hint of an archaeology puzzle, became more excitable than a kitten in a laser light show. Coryth had uncorked the bottle, and now there was no getting the genie back inside.

Coryth seemed a little surprised. Though, this was Phylis we were talking about. It shouldn't have. She gave a light chuckle, at Phylis' excitement. It was kinda cute.

She only watched as the brunette leaped from her seat and headed over to the datacards. The redhead nodded, listening keenly. "Zakuul? Now, I sorta regret not taking my galactic geography courses a bit more seriously while at the temple. Whereabouts is that planet?" She had little clue there and was just following Phylis' lead at this point.

“Hmm, well, I wouldn’t feel too bad. It has been over four thousand years since their rise and fall. They are located in the far outer rim, near the very rim of the galaxy. Once they were a great and powerful realm which held both Sith and Republic in their thrall, but their time passed. I have never been there myself, but I would like to see it.”

She looked up at Coryth. “Well, if you’d like we can leave immediately. I’m well supplied for whatever might come up.”

"Well, I suppose not. Still! I never paid much mind to history classes before. They weren't exactly my thing." No, no but healing had been and at least she enjoyed those classes! "Well I'm quite interested to see it myself, too."

Coryth nodded, "Considering I don't have any plans, we might as well leave now. There' little need to wait at all. So, shall we?" She asked softly.

Phylis seemed genuinely excited. “Splendid! Then off we go! The journey will be a day or so, and we can use that time to make the rest of your staff.”

She hurried off to the bridge, Six-Nine following.

Nibbles scurried over to Coryth and nuzzled against her. It seemed the Jedispawn liked her!

"Excellent!" Coryth said eagerly. It was bound to be a fun adventure. "It sounds like a plan, then."

Reaching down, Coryth scratched Nibbles gently on the back. She seemed to be taking to him. Even though her Nexu would happily have eaten it, thinking it was some cute little furry and squishy chew toy! She was actually starting to like the little Jedispawn. "You're just adorable."

She sighed happily and waited patiently for Phylis to return. "I wonder what this is going to be like... What it will look like." She wondered aloud.

Nibbles didn’t answer: even if he could and understood her his focus was more on cheese. And back scratching, the little rodent liked that too, coming over to relax against Coryth’s robes. If she wasn’t careful he’d fall asleep there and doze off, dreaming of the great cheeseboard in the sky.

Soon enough Phylis came back. “Right, shall we get started? Six-Nine, clean up if you would.”
The droid beeped something snarky, but did as ordered.
“I see you’re getting on well with my Jedispawn! I was thinking I’d make a Jester or a Gizka next, what do you think?”

Coryth hadn't been too sure about the Jedispawn the first time she'd met it. She wasn't fond of rats or rat like things. But this little guy seemed alright in her book.

She gave a soft smile as Phylis returned. "Yep, I suppose we should." Slowly the redhead got up from her seat to follow Phylis to the alchemy room once more. "I am, surprisingly. It's ... kind of cute." Cory actually held onto the little rat like creature, and carried it with her, still petting it gingerly.

"Hmm..." She pondered for a moment between the two creature options. "Gizka are cute for reptiles. But the reproduction rate, got to be careful or you'll have a hold full of them. I think I'd go Jester. Those things are adorable and fluffy. It could be fun. That and their telepathic communicate would make it interesting."

“Hmm, perhaps the Jester is the best option, but the thought of a sentient Jester devouring everything does give me pause. I like to think I’m not a mad alchemist!” Phylis said with a smile.

She led Coryth back to the forge. There she laid out an Alusteel hollow pipe sawn in half lengthways so the whole interior was exposed.
“My thoughts were that we alchemise something like this, placing the crystals inside. I wanted to use Alusteel as it’s lighter, and the Alkahest process increases the weight, so it should balance out.”

Coryth giggled a small bit. "Yes, it's not without concerns with a Jester. But the image is sightly amusing, you have to admit that. Especially if we let it loose in Siobhan's home." She paused for a moment, "Though that might be a tiny bit mean to Tegaea and Galina."

Coryth then looked down to the pipe and nodded. She placed nibbles on her shoulder to let him rest there and stay hopefully out of the way. "I think it's a good choice. I am assuming the way we will set the crystals into this, will focus them in a similar fashion to a lightsaber, yes?" She was curious on that part. Alkahest wasn't her specialty after all and she was quite curious.

For a moment Phylis hesitated over the Dark Side option of unleashing a sentient Grrbyrr on Siobhan as reward for her constant flirting. However, her innate moral nature overrode the impulse and she shook her head.

“Yes, I don’t think I’d want to inflict a hungry Jester on anyone. Hmm, I’ll think of another project.”

She turned back to business. “Yes, exactly the same as a lightsabre. Instead of electrical power though, you’re channelling the Force through it. If you think about it in physics terms, it’s like a railgun accelerating the slug faster and faster. Hmmph, well it’s not really like that, but it will do for comparative purposes!” she said,

She gestured her hand over the crystals and they slotted into position, aside from an open one at the top.

“We put your Solari here, and then leave the outer cap for the Mantle. This is what it will look like, but we’ll just need to make it happen.”

Turning, Phylis gestured to the furnace and activated it.
