BIOGRAPHY:

Youth: (Insubstantiated)

Though the true story of his background is known only to him, there are a wide number of commonly accepted 'facts' about him among those who know him well.

Dyre was well educated and is believed to have been born on Coruscant to a reasonably prominent family given his accent and casual knowledge of galactic politics and trade. His knowledge of combat is also indicative of a formal military education of the caliber only truly offered in the galactic capital at the time of his birth. The only family which Dyre has ever acknowledged is that he had a living brother when he entered the Imperial Military and another brother and sister who died during the course of the Galactic Civil War in 'terrorist' attacks. Some believe that his father was a high ranking military officer in the Imperial Military and that he adopted the surname 'Redwave' so that he would not be tied to his father either through family quarreling or to avoid the perception of nepotism.

Early Career (Substantiated)

Following his graduation from the Academy, Dyre Redwave was given his first command. He was made a Lieutenant overseeing a small detachment of marines aboard an Imperial Star Destroyer. It was here that Dyre earned a fearsome reputation putting a stop to Rebel activity in the more 'Civilized' regions of space. In his first assignment he was charged with apprehending a petty lord on the world of Alderaan who was believed to be funneling funds to organizations which provided material support to the Rebel Alliance. When the primary force arrived to apprehend the captured target and transport the treacherous them to a holding location, they found a hole blown into the side of the estate. Several members of household staff lay on the ground dead, not from blasterfire but instead from blunt force trauma and stabbing, with looks of pained anguish upon their face. It was in the master bedroom where they found their target, one of his children among a pile of bloody rags on the floor, their mother weeping by the pile of their remains. His other child sat tied to a chair. Dyre presented his superiors a signed confession and a list of contacts to his superiors immediately. His actions, though brutal even by Imperial standards, earned him commendation from his superiors who viewed his means as being well worth the results allowing them to limit the planetary funds being routed to insurrectionists.

Though still a junior officer, his methods lead to him becoming quite feared by members of the Rebel Alliance operating in the heart of civilized space. While those who resisted were forced to face brutal consequences, those who didn't resist and who dealt honestly were treated better than most prisoners. Knowledge of this resulted in an insurrectionist cell in the lower levels of Corruscant Surrendering to him when he and his men were sent to apprehend them without a shot being fired. This served to earn him a promotion to the rank of Captain along with the respect of his men who had not had been spared an unnecessary gunfight and likely resulted in far fewer casualties to all involved.

In his new command, now with roughly two hundred soldiers at his disposal, Dyre became responsible for the interruption of rebel supply lines. In his first year he is known to have personally overseen the boarding on no fewer than sixteen ships hauling goods to the insurrectionists. Though not above brutal acts, he openly preferred resolving matters without gunfire. Unlike many officers, he refused to hide behind his rank and would join his men in battle when such acts were necessary. His directness and bravery earning him the respect of his men. His effectiveness and attention to detail earned him the respect of his superiors. Though he was feared for his sheer brutality by insurrectionist elements, his honesty garnered him some respect.

His last stationing, while in service to the Empire, was aboard the second Death Star, where he was responsible not only for security operations but also for oversight and clearance of contractors working aboard the still incomplete space station. He was dispatched on occasion to apprehend vessels who were believed to be insurrectionist spies and terrorists and those carrying illegal cargo. As with all things, rumors spread when news that the location and plans for the second deathstar had been acquired by the 'rebel terrorists'. This news unsettled him and he spoke privately with his subordinate officers.

“The first death star was hit in the core with a single torpedo through a vent and it was vaporized and the better part of two million peopled died. This one has gaping holes in it big enough to pilot a freighter into it and crash it into the core. Sure, it has a shield generator but that can easily get blown up, we are fighting terrorists, all they do is blow things up!” His words were tantamount to treason, but they could not refute the logic. The Emperor had time and again thrown away the lives of their kind casually and the 'Rebel Alliance' were nothing more than domestic terrorists with delusions of grandeur with no understanding that their actions were not beneficial. They all came to the conclusion. Putting their lives at risk for a paycheck and military benefits was one thing. It was entirely different to sit on a bomb waiting for it to explode because a bureaucrat said so. Dyre along with his subordinate officers began to spread the word among their most trusted men.

Knowing that they would be universally hated in the future, they prepared carefully, though quickly, before they departed. Using their rank and security clearances they comandeered a great deal of supplies from the local region of the station. Virtually emptying several armories of spare armor and arms along with any foodstuffs which they could acquire. Most also took personal items, pictures of wives, girlfriends, parents and like along with any personal attire that they had. Managing to evade suspicion, they successfully loaded their supplies aboard an experimental expeditionary & cartography ship which had been docked to take on supplies before venturing into the unexplored regions of space. Their escape was further aided by news that the shield generator had come under attack by the insurrectionists and natives.

When they had taken all they could take, they fled the station, and having gotten to a safe distance they were able to jump to hyperspace, they were afforded a moment to realize their unfortunate situation. Should the Imperials win, which was unlikely given the gross overconfidence of Palatine, they would be regarded as traitors. If the insurrectionists won the entire galaxy would be thrown into an economic disaster or worse, they would try and form a government which would view them as war criminals and probably blow them up. The Hutts while cooperative with the Empire were no friends of the Imperial Military and would no doubt kill them on sight. For that reason, they devised a plan.

Their ship, outfit with cryosleep chambers given that the vessel was designed to operate unmanned for extremely long periods and map out unexplored regions of space at sub-light speeds. They realized what they would have to do, and they prepared to venture into unknown space. After sharing a final and somewhat melancholy meal together they polished their arms and armor, and systematically entered into cryosleep. Dyre and his men were mourned by their friends and loved ones as all were declared dead following the destruction of the second Death Star... while they floated silently through unexplored space, asleep.

Present Career
Having awakened to find that the galaxy he knew and the people he cherished were long since lost and forgotten to the flow of time, Dyre has embraced the life of doing whatever he can get away with. Piracy, slaving, stealing from the rich and then stealing both the rich and poor themselves. He does retain his moral scruples however, viewing the enslavement of humans as intolerable believing that such a status is the lot of 'lesser species'. Instead of operating as a 'member' of the factions which have emerged in the time since his departure from the galaxy he instead takes on the role of 'privateer' for those with whom he shares interest requesting only discretion, a letter of marque and full acceptance of 'prize law'.

As a privateer, Dyre behaves much the same as a pirate would though differs from a true pirate in that he is sanctioned to do so by an organization provided he takes actions only against hostile targets or targets of 'no consequence'. While he may or may not carry a title granted by those whom he serves he is not provided with regular payments, instead his ability to loot, raid and pillage being the payment provided along with information to enable his continued ventures.

SHIP:
Dyre is in possession of an advanced Cartographer Vessel. It has exceptional shielding though no meaningful weaponry. The most notable feature is a full cryostasis chamber.
