GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Planet Name: Dvar
  • Demonym: Dvari
  • Region: Mid Rim [x]
  • System Name: Dvar
  • System Features:
    • Asteroid Field: Some rumour the asteroid field circling Dvar is what remains of a moon that was overmined, or maybe militarised during the multiple battles fought there. Anyway, the field is littered with debris, torn wreckages and destroyed listening devices. Some rare asteroids, still feature the Freya or Autovon remote detectors installed there by the New Republic. Among other notable see sights are multiple remains of Imperial SturmRams and T65 X-Wings.
    • Astrographic Information:
      • Orbital Position: 1
      • Rotation Period: 36 standard hours [x]
      • Orbital Period: 300 local days [x]
  • Location: Dvar is located in Kriselist's hexagon, at the Sanctuary Pipeline and Corellian Trade Spine crossroads. [x]
  • Major Imports:
    • Food
    • Technology
    • Medical supplies
  • Major Exports:
    • Titanium ores [x]
    • Ultrachrome ores [x]

    • Desh [x]
    • Copper
    • Xonolite [x]
    • Tricopper [x]

GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: Standard
  • Climate: Humid Subtropical [x]
  • Primary Terrain: Bog
  • Atmosphere: Type I
    LOCATION INFORMATION
  • Capital City: Dvar City
    • Planetary Features:
      • Abandoned Mines: Scattered throughout the planet, these mineshafts have been mined out and subsequently abandoned after they were discovered to be sterile. In some, leftover mining material can still be found, albeit in a poor condition due to humidity and lack of maintenance.
      • Planetary Ocean: Perhaps the place where most of the wildlife is to be found, the ocean occupies 40 per cent of the planetary surface, but has not been exploited at all since the colonisation. Successful fishing stations are yet to be installed, but they could be important progress in the operation of operating mining facilities under the ocean.
      • Planetary Marsh: While most of the planet is made of bogs and muddy plains, Dvar's most humid place surrounds the ocean. 30 per cent of the planetary surface is covered in marshes, which is populated by endemic shrimps and sparse medusas. The marsh does not seem to be populated at all by sentient life, and its sinister fogs deter lone individuals from ever trying to cross the marsh.
      • Ossuaries: After the battle of Dvar, the New Republic services decided to cram the thousands of thousands of dead into massive ossuaries until a proper classification system could be created. Given the impossible amount of bodies to process, many of the ossuaries were left as they were, and can sometimes be found when mining sessions begin.
    • Major Locations:
      • New Massada: Although the planet is not militarised at all, the remains of New Massada stick out of the background. It consists of an impressive entrenched Imperial camp made of several heavy artillery batteries, trenches, bunkers, machine gun nests and the like. While the camp has been abandoned for centuries, its ruins are still visited by people trying to steal relics of the past, or just visit the site of a major battle. Unbeknownst to most of the galaxy, the underground tunnels of New Massada have been restored when the old First Order fell. Serving as a refuge and a weapon cache, the base has lived a new life, housing First Order citizens and soldiers fleeing the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium, and stockpiling weapons and vehicles. No one lives in the base nowadays, but sometimes, pillagers and smugglers manage to breach into one of the aches and steal its content, effectively resulting in a thorough arms trafficking.
      • Dvar City: Originally a labour camp for the prisoners sent on Dvar by the Galactic Empire, Dvar City expanded after the war left the planet. The surviving prisoners had been freed by the New Republic or imprisoned by it, but some chose to remain to build a normal life. As such, using prefabricated Imperial barracks, Dvar City slowly began to grow and attract more people. Nowadays, it can be considered as a secondary urban centre in many populated worlds, but Dvar City is the main and sole urban centre of the planet. A small landing pad has been constructed to replace New Massada's own destroyed and abandoned astroport, but only a few cargos can land at a time. Other places of the town include a market alley, a cantina, and a hangar serving as the main government building.
      • New Republic's Memorial: After the battle of Dvar, the New Republic government decided to create a memorial of the battle to honour its dead and properly bury the Imperial defenders of New Massada. Given the millions of corpses to sort, the agents sent to build the memorial quickly gave up. The main building is supposed to house the bodies of Imperial and Republican soldiers fallen during the battle, but the truth is, only the Republican High Command and an Imperial officer are buried there. The rest of the Imperial and Republican corpses are scattered across the many ossuaries of the planet. Atop the building is many statues of New Republic combatants, surrounding the re-erected Ghost Raider, the last Imperial AT-AT to have been destroyed during the battle.

    POPULATION
    • Native Species: n/a
    • Immigrated Species: Humans, Wookiees [x], Twi'leks [x], Duros [x], Ugnaughts [x]
    • Population: Insignificant
    • Demographics: The vast majority of the population is made of Humans and Near-Humans (around 65 per cent), Wookiees (20 per cent), and other, common alien species found throughout the galaxy, such as Twi'leks, Duros or Ugnaughts (15 per cent). The Duros and Humans form the upper echelon of society, while Wookiees and Ugnaughts are enslaved in the mines of the planet. Twi'leks are not segregated but are often living in poor economic conditions.
    • Primary Languages: Galactic Basic, Huttese
    • Culture: Smuggler's Culture: The unique layout of Dvar's society is one of freedom yet slavery. Society works to transport the mined ores off-world, which has created an elite of space-farers and smugglers and created an independent and strong-willed mindset among the population. Given the relation between law and smugglers, gangs have formed in Dvar City, trying to control the local cantinas, markets and other sources of wealth. This leads to many brawls and skirmishes in the streets of the town, which are quickly put down by the leaders' militias. The landing pad and the governmental hangars are the only places that avoid petty conflicts given their strong surveillance. Outside Dvar City, small conglomerates of slavers manage the mines, exploiting Wookiees and Ugnaughts to get the work done. Hence, the ruthless attitude of the slavers have created bright differences between the "Miners" and "Towners": whereas the former is harsh and authoritarian, the latter are free-willed and curious.

    GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
    • Government: Oligarchic Kleptocracy / Mafiocracy [x] [x]: a group of powerful smugglers rules the planet with unquestioned authority, yet does not care about the fate of its people. The smugglers are here just to extract the resources and make as much money as possible.
    • Affiliation: Neutral
    • Wealth: Low: Despite the major imports of weapons and ores, most of the wealth falls in the hands of the governing smugglers, which they use to upgrade their ships, invest in mines, buy more slaves or equip their militias with better weapons and vehicles.
    • Stability: Low: The authoritarian rule of the smugglers and their lack of interest in the Dvari population has brought the city to a major crisis of instability, during which the gangs rise against the governing space-farers. However, these revolts are quickly put down by the superiorly-equipped militias serving the smugglers, and peace is swiftly restored. However, as soon as the militias retreat to their barracks, the gang wars restart until a strong enough thug rises and unites the gangs to attack the smugglers again.
    • Freedom & Oppression: Dvar is not ruled by a particularly oppressive elite, and the best proof of this is the total absence of police and day-to-day law enforcers. However, the hand of the government can be sensed when the militias deploy to fight a gang revolt or decide to patrol the streets. Moreover, the lack of wealth redistribution leads to a feeling of uninterest among the population: for the Dvari, the smugglers ignore most of them. Outside Dvar City, the Humans and Duros are absolute rulers enslaving the aliens working for them. Still, no one has ever cared to ask the Wookiees if they feel oppressed or not.
    • MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
    • Military: During the late stages of the Galactic Civil War, Dvar became an Imperial fortress world, a thorn in the side of the New Republic. New Massada would not be able to sustain any assault, yet the remains of the entrenchment camp can be repaired and rehabilitated. The majority of the defensive work on the planet would be handled by the smugglers' militias and by the local gangs, should the planet be invaded. These groups are equipped with a plentiful of salvaged Imperial weapons and vehicles, both from the Galactic Empire and the old First Order period. Finally, the smugglers possess a respectable fleet of freighters, cargos and corvettes, sufficiently armed to fight back pirates.
    • Technology: Galactic Standard

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Old Ages (1000 BBY - 4 ABY)

Dvar was discovered sometime around 1000 BBY, as the dust of the Hundred Year Darkness settled. Corellian space-farers explored the mud planet, but due to the lack of heavy equipment and the unattractiveness of mud fields, Dvar was not colonised. As such, it remained devoid of all life, except for endemic medusas and shrimps. Afterwards, Jedi explorers charted the planet, and it was added to the untainted planets list of the Galactic Republic. Due to its important position, at the Sanctuary Pipeline and Corellian Trade Spine crossroads, Republic services installed hyperspace beacons in the system, and soon ships began to pass in the system.
In 35 BBY, the first mining operation was installed on the planet, but pirates began to plague the system. In 27 BBY, a battle between the pirates and the miners turned to the former's advantage, and all the mining operations were abandoned until 4 ABY.

Battle of Dvar (4 ABY - 11 ABY)
At this date, the Empire hoped to create a series of fortress worlds to delay the Alliance's progression in the region. Moreover, Dvar was seen as a potential reserve for raw materials which had difficulties reaching the shipyards of the Core. An entrenchment camp called New Massada was built and slowly improved over the years. Criminals were also brought to the planet to extract the ores, that were supplied to the Core thanks to the hyperspace lanes passing in the system.
In 5 ABY, the New Republic managed to cut the Corellian Trade Spine and began their advance towards Dvar. Supplies were cut for New Massada, but they managed to keep contact with the rest of the galaxy and the Imperial Ruling Council thanks to some smugglers. The New Republic forces landed on the planet and began besieging the Imperial, and so the battle of Dvar began. For three years, the two sides would clash with a fury only rivalled by the number of losses. Quickly, however, New Massada was forced to enlist Penal Troopers to sustain its losses. By 8 ABY, 70 per cent of the garrison would be made of Penal Troopers.
The same year, the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Destiny Blade left the Kuat Drive Yards as the planet surrendered to the New Republic. Sabotaged, the Star Destroyer would not be able to reinforce Dvar as it was originally intended, but Admiral Louchké, commanding the vessel, put up an audacious plan that managed to send reinforcements to Dvar while capturing the enemy Star Destroyer pursuing him. Three regiments landed on Dvar and reinforced the camp, along with fresh supplies and a significant weakening of the orbital defences. Eventually, the garrison would be slaughtered to the last as the New Republic progressed.
Small pockets of resistance held until 11 ABY, but the news of Grand Admiral's Thrawn death prompted some soldiers to surrender. The last commander of New Massada, Lieutenant Drell, managed to cripple several New Republic regiments by blowing sections of the base up, and suicided himself with a baradium detonator when faced with capture. The last soldiers would be killed to the last or manage to flee off-world in small groups and join Louchké in the Core.

Rebuilding and First Colony (11 ABY - 478 ABY)
The planet would undergo many operations to sort the dead soldiers and bury them properly. Following the defeat of the Empire and the departure of the New Republic army, the last inhabitants settled in the ruins of what would become Dvar City. The smugglers that had supplied the Imperials offered the Dvari to buy them the ores they could extract in exchange for refined materials and technologies.
This would go on for centuries, until, in 478 ABY, an ambitious ex-pirate landed on the planet. Seeing the mines as an opportunity, he set up the first slaving gangs that would exploit the ores and sell them to the smugglers passing by. This opened a formidable opportunity for slave trafficking, and several gangs rose to control the mines and use slaves to find rare ores. Soon enough, the smugglers realised they would lose control of the planet's trade if the slave gangs united to shape the market in the way they saw fit. As such, the space-farers decided to launch an attack and subjugate the mines.

Market Wars (478 ABY - 481 ABY)
What started as a series of skirmishes became quickly known as the Market Wars, and forced the slave gangs to unite to fight back. The smugglers gained the upper hand thanks to their use of aircraft and heavy weaponry, and promised freedom to the slaves that sided with them. In the last mine, the final battle took place the slave gangs controlled and had fortified for the occasion. The anti-aircraft missiles quickly shifted the advantage, and the slave gangs dealt a significant number of devastating blows. Meanwhile, a group of speeders arrived at Dvar City and took in hostage the smugglers' cargos, in hopes of negotiating a peace treaty.
The two sides agreed on power limitations for both factions: the slavers would remain in their mines and stay as competitive as possible to create a win-win market. On the other hand, the smugglers accepted to limit their influence to Dvar City, and provide the slavers with whatever they needed. But another group would rise in Dvar City in the next centuries.

Rise of the Gangs (698 ABY - 858 ABY)
By 698 ABY, several gangs had been created in Dvar City, trying to control the points of interests in the city. The smugglers had in mind the Market Wars when they tried to deal with the gangs. They created their own group of thugs, militias that would clash with the gangs in an eternal cycle of militias attacking to destroy alliances between gangs, and gangs uniting to riot in Dvar City.
But the smugglers were losing interest in the town, which had proven unprofitable, unlike the mines. As such, they retreated to their last strongholds, the landing pad and the adjacent hangar. During the Age of Chaos outbreak, the planet would remain relatively untouched by the events that threatened the galaxy. Until the fall of the old First Order, nothing would threaten the life on the planet.

Imperial Interlude and Present Times (858 ABY - Now)
Then, refugees fleeing the Ssi-Ruuvi arrived on the planet, attracted by the rumours of an antique Imperial entrenchment camp. The rag-tag group of soldiers and civilians took over New Massada and Dvar City. The civilians managed to broker an agreement with the smugglers and for a time became a dominant group in the city. Meanwhile, the few soldiers that had fled tried to restore New Massada by creating many weapon caches and fortified nests. Most of the First Order citizens would join the Core Imperial Confederation, but some stayed on the planet and effectively created a strong Imperial influence, even though the smugglers managed to stay in power.
As the decades passed, sparse contact was established with the renewed First Order, but no diplomatic move was tried to join it or pledge allegiance to the Imperial cause. Thanks to the smugglers' finely managed politics, the planet remains neutral and the profit goes on...

Jerec Yularen Jerec Yularen Alright! Let's get to it. First, some formatting stuff I would like to see!
  1. LOCATION INFORMATIONCapital City: Dvar City
Please fix this so that it follows the bullet-point format!
    • Freedom & Oppression: Dvar is not ruled by a particularly oppressive elite, and the best proof of this is the total absence of police and day-to-day law enforcers. However,
the hand of the government can be sensed when the militias deploy to fight a gang revolt or decide to patrol the streets.
Just a simple backspace and this will look just fine.
    • Immigrated Species: Humans, Wookiees, Twi'leks, Duros, Ugnaughts
Please link the exotic species here! Per the codex rules, anything not human needs to be linked.
  2. Could you possibly provide a link to the First Order faction on both Chaos and Wookia in the Links Section simply due to the overall importance of the First Order to this world? While I am aware of the neutrality of the world, I think it would allow any reader of this submission to easily refer to the faction itself and back again.

That's all! Really simple fixes. Looks really cool, and I have a new fanfiction to read. Lemme know when you got these done!

I tried during these last two days to find a link to the old First Order page but wasn't able to find anything. I still linked the canon version of the First Order and its current embodiment. Hope it suffices.
Also corrected the other errors you pointed out.

Quick question, looking at the map: due to the number of planets already present around the crossroads Sanctuary Pipeline/Corellian Trade Spine, any chances Dvar gets added to the map?

Jerec Yularen Jerec Yularen | Mrurh'en'lase | Hel Mrurh'en'lase | Hel

Overall, this planet seems to be very well done. The only thing that raises red flags is that the inspiration for this submission was taken from a Pre-Existing Star Wars fanfiction. Just be certain that everything is written in your own words. I'm not going to read 75K words and 41 Chapters to figure that out though I have skimmed and it seems kosher. If it comes out that it isn't - The submission will be archived.

My only note of clarification is in regards to the Location:

Location: Dvar is located at the crossroads of the Sanctuary Pipeline and Corellian Trade Spine, between Lorta and Nkllon.

This is a little confusing because the space between Lorta and Nkllon is fairly wide, when really, it seems to be located exactly where Kriselist is on the map. Wouldn't it be easier just to say that?

Please tag me when you're ready for me to take another look.

Srina Talon Srina Talon

A look at another SW map shows that Dvar is indeed located at the same place as Kriselist. Given the fact that I've been writing this sub under the author's instructions, I didn't double-check all the info I was given. In fact, the author relied on Wikipedia's SW galaxy map, which isn't accurate enough to locate Kriselist. I've subsequently removed the 'Lorta Nkllon' text so it's just giving the hyperlane crossroads info.

And to reassure you, I didn't copy/paste the whole fanfiction to make this sub. I talked to the author directly as I couldn't just steal his creation for whatever use I could have of it. He is the one who gave me the outline of this sub and I filled it accordingly, trying to stay as close as possible to the spirit of the fanfiction.

So no, I didn't suck out the fanfic to write this, but yes, I wrote that with the author's help, so he could expand some points that aren't covered in his story. Anyway, I encourage y'all to read it because it's truly a good story, and I tried to bring in Chaos a location that served that story.

Please understand that regardless the diligence you seem to have put forth in respecting the original author - I am obligated to uphold the Rules of the Codex and the Site no matter what.

Your intent seems genuine. I appreciate that, and, it's also why I'm letting this pass. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt.

My warning above, however, still stands.

Anytime you're referring to a "Location" we're referring to where the submission might be located on the Chaos Map.

Location: [ This can be a screenshot of the hex from the map with a marker, or you can say that it is located "in X planet's hex" and give a general description of positioning. If you intend to add this planet to the Chaos Map please review the rules thoroughly.]

Location: Dvar is located at the Sanctuary Pipeline and Corellian Trade Spine crossroads

Please follow the instructions on the template. You need to list what planets HEX this is in. Not at the Crossroads of pipelines, etc. That's why I made you a screen cap, linked it, and showed you what planet it would be sitting on.

Tag me when that fixed.
