STRENGTHS
  • | Versatile Protection | The Gavial is an excellent weave of several kevlar layers with glistaweb woven in. This provides excellent protection against both blaster and kinetic based weapons. The glistaweb deflects blaster bolts, redirecting much of the force away from its intended target while preventing penetration while the multi-layer kevlar can catch slugs fired from projectile-based weaponry using calibers traditionally meant to be used against infantry.
  • | Flexible | Gavial Kevlar does not sacrifice flexibility for the protection it offers. While one may be heavily bruised, there is little need for protective plating over the kevlar itself except as means of even further protection.
WEAKNESSES
  • | Heat | Gavial kevlar does not protect against heat and can melt when exposed to high temperatures such as close proximity to fire, extended contact with a heat source, etc. It can result in the Gavial melting to one's skin if they are not careful around such heat sources. Quite painful.

DESCRIPTION

The Gavial Pattern Glistaweb Kevlar is a simple, but effective means of protection against most weapons frequently used in the Galaxy. Made of a multi-layer mesh, the Gavial serves to protect the wearer from first and foremost blaster bolts; being able to deflect them while mitigating penetration or kinetic energy from the bolt itself to ensure that the wearer doesn't have a hole burned through them. Being able to be fitted into a bodyglove form gives the wearer greater flexibility and dexterity without having to sacrifice them for protection.
The multi-layer weave also allows for the kevlar to catch slugs and other physical projectiles, even if it as thin as a bodyglove. While it does not deflect them, it is able to quite easily catch such projectiles without penetrating the skin; unfortunately, without any underlying gel layer to accompany it, the wearer will experience quite a painful bruising from the impact just as a shot to the chest will likely knock the wind out of you. But you cannot put a price on your life, nor complain about getting bruised when you could have been shot clean through.
