  • Drill Me: This droid is equipped to drill through any and all material that could get in its way thanks to the diamond augur and the ultrasonic drill, both of which can also be used to penetrate subterranean vehicles.
  • Drop The Base: The droid is equipped with a specialized stainless steel container that holds sodium hydroxide inside of it. This base is one of the most caustic there is and interacts with most metals by dissolving it into gas. Great for piercing the hulls of subterranean drilling vehicles.
  • Bid Badda Boom: One of the segments holds a thermite charge for destroying subterranean passages and vehicles.

  • Deep Dive: This droid is capable of discerning threats below ground, pinpointing them, and burrowing to them swiftly for intercept.
  • You Go Boom: When it reaches its target it deploys its charge either by dropping it into a tunnel, or uses electromagnets to clamp onto a vehicle, bores a hole into it using the base it carries, and drops the charge inside on a very short timer before dropping off.

  • One and Done: It's only got one charge, and half the time because it's attached itself to the vehicle it ends up getting blown up along with the vehicle.
Description.png

Out of a desire to create fortresses that are nearly impregnable, and with a realization that shields typically do not extend below a planets surface, there's been a realization that bases and other hardened facilities are vulnerable to underground assault. Tunneling APC's, giant worms, and even troops with shovels pose a threat to attack from below the surface. While dumb mines already exist for dealing with this threat, they've proven to not be quite as effective at hitting their mark. Smart mines also exist, but they're still not as intelligent and capable of adaptation as a droid would be, and for that reason, a cheap droid brain has been incorporated into the new device. High tech brains were deemed overkill given the limited function of the droid being created.

The droid is programmed to detect underground threats and bore down to them before deploying its explosive charge. In the case of burrowing vehicles and creatures, it can latch itself on and, essentially, suicide itself in order to destroy either. For tunnels full of troops, it can dig in, drop its payload, and keep digging its way out, allowing it to survive. Most of these droids don't survive the deployment of their explosives. Testing has proven them far more efficient at finding and hitting their target than predecessor devices.
