Veiled Narcissism. Draven wants more out of life and to be a winner, but understands that he has to work under the Empire. He has no desire to be "rehabilitated" or jailed and the Empire can pay well for his successful services as an Agent. So, his side is with the Empire. He toes the line and gives lip service when necessary, but he's very careful to tread lightly around the Empire. He'll do what's necessary until he has enough breathing room to do things his way. He has an obsession with winning and that's one reason why he's so good at catching Deviants.

History

Draven Carter was born on Cormalum to David and Peggy Carter. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) When he was two years old, his parents left their homeworld to escape the "peaceful oppression". They joined a commune in the Mid Rim and lived their lives the way they wanted to. There were 16 other kids at the commune and Draven was aged in the middle of them (most were older and younger, some where about his age). Draven's parents had been different from their loyalist relatives in the sense of deviance, but they weren't necessarily good deviants. Since they had left, his parents' deviance had only grown. The commune celebrated deviance from the Empire's peaceful oppression goals, but David and Peggy were being counter-productive to the commune as a whole.

David started paying less attention and time to his family and got lost in his new freedom. Peggy is a fair, but hard, woman, submissive to her husband, and she gives love where she thinks it belongs. But then, her patience limit grew much thinner as time went on and her marriage began to dissolve beyond her control. Being a child, Draven's inevitable trouble-making led to Peggy having explosive reactions. Peggy started to see Draven as the source of their trouble, when, in actuality, she was subconsciously displacing her anger onto little Draven. Others noticed that Peggy may have been developing something akin to a split personality disorder. At the age of six, Peggy's anger turned Draven away and he didn't want anything to do with her. However, he still wanted his parents to like him. Sometimes, when David would actually take the time to interact with Draven, David would give him high and (sometimes) exaggerated praise for something he had done well, especially if it involved winning competitively.

Yearning for praise and affection from at least his father, Draven became very competitive at what counted as sports around here. If you wanted to win, you were on Draven's team. At first, being another kid and playing and interacting with Draven wasn't so bad. But, as the years went on and he couldn't fill the need for affection that he desired, Draven's attitude and heart became mean and hard. Winning gave him pleasure and "respect". His outbursts of anger at failure started to take after his own mother's. His father's praise waned and became worthless. The other parents viewed Draven as a tolerable problem and didn't want anything to do with him. By age 8, he was pretty much a bully who ran his own clique, even consisting of older kids. On his 8th birthday, the disappointing festivities were cut short by an argument which left the two parents squabbling in the living room and Draven curled up on his bed and clenching his fists.

A month after that, David was wasting his life getting high on drugs and Peggy, soon after, started to sleep around. Both of these quickly sped the commune to dissolution. David overdosed one night on the couch and Peggy spent the last of their money to get she and Draven to a shady shuttle station and barely afford a ticket for only Draven back to Cormalum. He took the ticket and made a show of gladly taking the ticket and leaving her behind. However, as soon as the door's shut, he scurried to a viewport, fear and sadness in his heart.

He watched as his mother pulled out dad's gun and blew her brains out right there on the platform. Draven kneeled on top of the seat next to the viewport, stupefied with horror and anguish as the shuttle pulled away. As soon as the platform disappeared from sight, he curled up and cried his eyes out. He didn't dare make a single noise. That would be seen as weak...he wasn't weak...not ever....

When he woke up after crying himself to sleep, he uncurled and stretched. His joints popped and he noticed a dirty hypodermic on the ground. His dry, puffy eyes stared at it before he reached down, picked it up, and then clutched it to himself. He looked around at the (obviously) shady people in the shuttle with him. 4 men of differing species. He had a bad feeling about this. He went to the bathroom and hid out there for the rest of the trip (4 hours), much to the chagrin and anger of the other shuttle goers.

When he finally reached Cormalum, he was starving. He wandered around until he was picked up by drones and put into the government's Ward unit. From there, Draven continued being what he was and wanted to be: mean and a winner. Although he didn't meet their peaceful propaganda requirements, "higher ups" noted he was willing to obey well enough where needed and he was very talented in getting his tasks done. He was chosen to become an Agent at the Jobs for Ward Children ceremony.

Haha. Actually, the character type that is Inspector Javert is going to pretty much sum up my Mirrorverse character's current role in the Mirrorverse...Except for the fact that Javert is more neutral and focused on upholding the law than my character. I'm really hoping to have Draven eventually jump into Chaos and then start up a crime faction with him. It's all up in the air right now, though. School and life will play a big role in the outcome of whether or not it will come true.
