  • General behavior: Doruvir live deep in Veradune’s caves, crawling along the walls and floors in the darkness. Incredibly sensitive to most spectrums of light, the doruvir can see well in almost complete darkness, but can be blinded by any significant light source. Upon finding their prey, the Doruvir will use its long stinger ended tail to paralyze the victim with a fast acting toxin. The Doruvir will then climb onto its back and use its sharpened legs to puncture through and gain a hold so that it can use its drill like proboscis to consume the marrow within the spine. Doruvir can survive on other sources of marrow such as femurs and other bones, but for no apparent reason, other than taste, appear to prefer the spine.

Doruvir are often found in colonies ranging from ten to twenty and will swarm their prey with the largest moving to take the prized position of the victim’s back. These colonies are often situated around a central nest where they keep their eggs.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Doruvir, due to their dangerous nature and tendency of scurrying away from sources of light, are something of a mystery to even the most exploratory denizens of Veradune. It is theorized that their malevolent nature presence is unnatural and actually a by product of experimentation by a blight sect of wilders. While some Doruvir have been taken captive for study, most do not last long in captivity, the harsh light of the outside world seeming to rob them of their will to live. There have however, been reports of adventurers and young trialing zorrens in the mountains being found with their bodies apparently having fallen victim to colonies of Doruvir. Due to their tendency to attach themselves to their prey's back with the hug-like embrace of their sharp piercing legs, Doruvir have become colloquially known by most Verans as spine cuddlers.
