Description: Wanting another option besides lethal lightsabers or blasters, Domino reached back to her roots in martial arts and chose the simple and versatile quarterstaff. Constructed of phrik so as to be able to block sabers the weapon has lost little of the defensive potential inherent of the saber and has a small electrical generator on either end similar to the ones found on electrostaffs. Varying in power from delivering a painful jolt to being strong enough to knock someone unconscious near-instantly, the generators are not capable of delivering a deadly charge without prolonged exposure.

Both ends of the pike also contain the usual saber blade (yellow) of about 30 cm and is adjustable via the force out to 90 cm for when Domino needs to surprise someone in a fight or if there's just something that thick needing to be cut. Although power regulation limits the pike to having only one system per side activated at a time, either a blade or electro generator may be on, not both unless on opposing sides.

Long and smooth, the pike is a phrik tube with framing inside to provide both strength and a seat for the internal components to attach to. A small lip at either end prevents the user's hands from sliding into the blade or electric projector and acts as small guards to prevent another weapon from running off them and over the hands of the person wielding it. At great expense and difficulty, the activation loops contain no dimetris circuits rendering the blades immune to pure cortosis’ nullifying effects on saber blades.

As a pet project of Domino's, the design slowly changed over the years and following a winning bid by Rave Merrill alchemical elements were included. A complicated series of internal safeties requiring intimate knowledge of the weapon were removed in favor of true control through the force. A recessed activation button will ignite one blade and an electrical generator in a force-dead area, but is overridden by Domino's control. At Rave's suggestion, the pike was cored with Terentatek tusk alchamized to prevent force powers from affecting the weapon and to add a layer of disruptive defense against offensive force powers. Lastly, a Night-sister's blood trail keyed to Domino was coated on the pike's insides allowing Domino to always find the weapon she'd invested so much in as well as providing her a solid force-link to her pike with which to control its functions.

Could you explain, in detail, how the saber works without dimetris circuitry? It is the active part of a saber which creates the energy field which holds the plasma used to create the blade in place.

I'm not 100% sure what that second part is asking but they're a part of the activation loop. Striking pure cortosis starts a feedback cascade that shuts down the saber according to my source (Mara Jade's flavor text, sadly I think the page was edited of a better description since John sent me there some months back).

I envisioned it as Domino replacing gold plated circuits with pure platinum in terms of modern day tech/cost. Boosting the pike's ability to deal with the loop rather than having to shut down to save itself.
